One of my favorite sports moments recently…

Before my sons volleyball games at his high school, they play the national anthem. It always breaks and studders. The PA system in the gym is awful. Everyone is used to it and suffers through the recording. One of his last home games, the national anthem did not start. We waited, facing vaguely in the direction of a wall that had a flag, waiting for that tired old tune about a flag to choke into life, totter through the clicks and pops and finally end to our relief and applause so we could play… but it never started. So one of the students started singing it, as a joke at first, and others and myself jumped in singing it and before you knew it every single person in the gym, home and visitor, parent and child was singing the national anthem as best as they could and it was BEAUTIFUL. I remembered what I love about this country.
We are in this thing together, friends, and it means everything. Never forget!

@nuleafjhawk There are plenty of groups, including both parties, trying to make us feel bad about what we are so they can be the agent of change we need. Its also every middle man trying to sell us something.
