That game went about as expected. The good news is our season is far from over. If Marshall can start playing like a serviceable starter I think we have a shot at a bowl game.

The OLine isn't good enough that a serviceable QB wins a lot of games. Marshall appears better suited as a RB at this point, but the OLine is bad enough that the offense needs Marshall's running ability to be able to create enough time to get a pass off.

Some thoughts from far away. I just spent a dream vacation/retirement trip to Switzerland and had to come home today, really yesterday. So at 3 AM Geneva time, we're walking to the airport since shuttle buses weren't running yet and I'm 'watching' KU play on my ESPN app. Semi encouraging first half disappeared with a 2nd half that looked like last years version of the game. Watching the game on the live updates wasn't very encouraging as turnovers and penalties seemed to derail their chances.

There seemed to be a lot of backlash against KU using the border war in their get hyped for the game stuff. A lot of 'did KU really use the civil war' to hype themselves up? A lot of people seemed to think we just kind of made that up out of the blue, not at all having any clue of the kind of rivalry this is. Of course the idiotic Missouri coach mouthed off after the game and I really dislike the guy now for it. Lance really might need to adjust his coaching goals here to beating misery. When Lovie Smith was hired to coach the Bears he said "I'm here to beat the Packers". And he did, at least for a few years and then it went south for him. I want Lance to say the same. "I'm here to beat Missouri". Of course he's failed at that so far and he might be on his way to being too late to save his job. Saddens me to say because I had high hopes after his promising start here.

Was there anything in the game that has you believe that Marshall is a "serviceable" P4 starter? 13 of 30 (and one of those was a wing and a prayer). 2 INTs. 4 fumbles (only 1 TO). 20 rushes for 23 yards. Really undersized.

Some of the ineffectiveness is due to O-line woes, but definitely not all. Multiple really bad throw/decision-making. I really question whether either of our QBs is capable of winning games for us against quality competition...

@kjayhawks2.0 I'm through with football and I'll admit that I whine a lot during basketball season but a bad BB season for us is better than most teams best season. Ever.

Thinking positively at least we aren’t Texas. This is what year 21 of them supposedly being back. Down 20-3 with one of, if not the most expensive roster in CFB. I’m sure Steve is about done there.

Wow I spoke too soon on Texas entered the 4th quarter down 23-3 but put up 21 unanswered in the final quarter to win. Wow I hate both teams with a passion so at least one of them lost.

What's there to hate about Ohio State, other than they are good at football?

                  Texas, yea.

                    This didn't age too well.

@rockchalkjayhawk there fans are just arrogant, I’ve disliked them since they got gifted the championship in 2002. Still absolutely laughable call and it was made like 10 seconds after the play was over?

I honestly am scratching my head pretty hard at this point as to how in the heck he won the job. Cole is obviously a good leader and respected by his teammates or he wouldn’t be a captain. He also played well enough to beat KSU in his only start IMO. Honestly hoping he isn’t hurt because the way this line looks, I see no chance of us making it all year without someone getting hurt at QB.

Marshall I think is a great athlete but we look like a highschool program just putting the ball in the hands of the best athlete and hoping it works out. It was the same story with Ryan Willis and Montell Cozart under Beaty. Willis was much better at decision making and throwing but Cozart was a good athlete. Obviously any comparison to the Beaty coaching isn’t going to be positive.

IMO if we aren’t going to move Marshall to RB or WR, which is likely where he would be at most P4 programs. We need to burn the play book and start running the triple option. The option came about for teams that gave up too much penetration up the middle. I’m not sure if our Guards came from Haskell but they sure hell look like it.

I’d also like to see Dylan Edwards get more touches. I agree he is small but he is very shifty and quick. He is averaging 5.9 yards per carry. Willis has not impressed me in the slightest so far between seeming to run right into the defense and have holding calls against him, mainly because his blocking form is similar to my sons 5th and 6th team. We have to find ways to get Edwards and McMillan the ball in space. I’m just not sure that’s possible with Marshall throwing it to them.

We obviously have a long journey ahead with the ASU game. But I’ve always felt like weird game circumstances favor the underdog which is obviously us. We likely won’t be favored in another game this season outside of middle Tennessee. I do think Mizzou is a much better team than ASU so all we can do is line them up and see how it goes.
