Royals v O's -- Game 1
-
Damn, get up to let the dogs out and Escobar nails one. BTW, great defensive effort by Escobar last inning. (beer)
-
Too funny. They showed royals scoring on the big board and you’d thought the Hawks had won.
-
Hey just got out of The Presley’s Theatre in Branson. Top of 9th 5-5 tie. Has poured rain for 2 days here at Table Rock & I don’t fish in rain. 2 on no outs-schizz is on!!
-
Go royals, no time like the present, top of 9.
-
Bases jammed, no runs, that one hurts.
-
@wissoxfan83 ouch! Ugly game for us!!
-
Been exciting, I don’t care that much either way.
-
@wissoxfan83 well I do!!
-
Yep can"t afford to waste bases loaded and no outs, especially tied in the 9th.
-
@globaljaybird You let a little rain ruin your parade? Not much of an angler.
-
Damn I hate sidearm/underarm pitchers. But on the other hand. HOO-AAH!!!
-
@brooksmd Tail end of Pacific hurricane. Glad Gordon came back from the beanbal-hope that’s enough!!
-
That’s 4 RBI’s for him tonight.
-
Da Moose got loose. After 0-9 against this guy he was due. Ready to breakout the Crown. (beer)
-
@brooksmd Have one for me guy. With the Mrs & no Henessy in sight.
-
@globaljaybird That’s poor planning and there is no excuse for that.
-
Dang, 5 in a row and 4 in extra innings. These guys could drive you to drink. Don’t mind if I do. Cheers all. GN (beer)
-
@brooksmd yeah!!! Now I need to catch up w/late night reads! Good day! Hopefully tomorrow will be easier!
-
That stinking game lasted 4 hours and 37 minutes. Think about that. It works out to 28 minutes per inning. Most of those innings neither team scored a run. What in the heck is going on with MLB and the length of these games? The first round of the playoffs average game length was 3:41. Unbelievable. And MLB wonders why the casual fan isn’t watching anymore. It’s why Fox Sports 1 has most of the NLCS and why none of the Royals/O’s series is on free TV.
-
@wissoxfan83 well, w/the royals, figure it to be much longer!!! As long as it takes!!!
-
@wissoxfan83 Blame it on Baltimore. The pitchers threw more to first than they did to the catcher when the Royals had base runners. Think I read somewhere that MLB was looking at ways to speed up the game.
-
@brooksmd Get ready for a reeeeeeal long one tonight if not rained out. 2-4 more inches of rain-all day long + winds at game time 20-30 mph out of the North. Damn good day to stay inside at home. Wish I could. Rained the entire 4 days we were at Table Rock over the weekend. Advertisers like long games in all sports & so do networks + more dollars in all their pockets. Regardless of all the spin, that’s actually what they really want. JMO
-
@globaljaybird You forgot the owners. Longer games equals more concession money in their pockets. Of course if they’d stop the ridiculous multi-million dollar contracts for average players then a family of four wouldn’t need to take out a signature loan to attend a game. And whatever happened to pitchers like Spahn, Drysdale, Koufax and many more who could throw a complete game? Now a starter goes 4-5 innings, then you have 3-4 middle relievers and a closer. Every change adds 10-15 minutes. (steps down off soapbox)
-
At this time there is better than 50-50 chance that the game gets postponed. Steady rain all day and projected rains through the evening.

Try this
First off, congrats. You guys are a really scrappy team and it’s making this a heck of a series. I wish a few things would have gone our way, but hey, that’s baseball. I wanted to share something I saw during the Royals BP. My friends and I had went early, we watched you guys warm up. We stood in the left field seats and judged balls getting hit towards us–pretty fun to do if you’ve never done it. Anyways, there were a few KC players near the wall shagging fly balls, doing normal stuff. But then they started tossing a few balls to some of the little kids with gloves. They encouraged them to toss it back and thus a game of catch began between little kids (decked out in O’s gear) and KC players. This went on for a good twenty minutes. There was one in particular–Scott Downs–that was having a lot of fun with it. These little kids ate it up. Playing catch with MLB players, man, what a memory. They treated those kids so well, and none of them had any KC gear on. I turned to my buddy and said “you know, it’s really hard to hate this team.” And that’s the truth. That was really cool, something I’ve never seen. Anyways, just had to share it. Good luck, and know that if we don’t pull off some miracles I’m rooting for KC in the WS.
