      1. I want two scoring combo guards or lead guards in the backcourt. That is where Self thrives and this should help our offense. Taylen Kinney might be one of these. We should probably pick up another in the portal.

      2. I want a starting wing in the vein of a Marcus Garrett or Melvin council. Probably a portal guy though I have my eyes on Trent Perry.

      3. I want us to save the 6 million that Stokes wants (use it for some good portal combo guards and wings) and for us to start Rosario at the 4 next year. He will rebound, defend, help give our big man space, and I think his shots will fall.

      4. Unless his demands are outrageous, I want us to keep Flory. Give him more spacing with a four around 1 lineup next year.

      5. Keep Mbiya. Have him rotate in with Flory to give us a change of pace bruiser off the bench.

      6. Play Luke Barnett big minutes off the bench. Tell him to let it fly.

      7. Find a way to get Adkins some minutes too. Maybe at the 4 if need be. His defense can be a great tool.

I don't really feel strongly about keeping anybody on this roster. An entirely new team would be crazy of course, but that seems the way of the world these days.

But what i want: A legit big with talent. Flory is too small. MORE than a few excellent shooters. A guard who can penetrate and get to the rim.

Flory: I like him, but hasn't lead us to the promised land so far.

Rosario: Play him at the 4? Hmmm.

Mbiya: always nice to have a big big on the squad.

        The recruits: no clue.

A Melvin or Marcus on the wing: I think i've lost track of what "wing" means in college hoops. It used to be a small forward, but now seems to include shooting guards. IMO a wing needs to be at least 6-7.

We played 4 guards in 2018 and 2022 not sure why Self seems to refuse to go back to it.

I want NIL money to go away and for players to stay four years.

            And world peace.

@nuleafjhawk The first two aren't happening. And because you grouped them together, I'm now worried the third won't either.

              Rock Chalk!

@bskeet I think the third won't happen regardless of what the first two are. 😥

@rockchalkjayhawk I don't mean to suggest Council is a wing. What I meant was I want a wing who has the athleticism, effort, and glue of a Council or a Garrett.

Yea, would be nice to have a player with that kind of motor at any spot.

I agree about Flory he improved a ton this season and did a lot of good things but he struggles mightily against size and experience. I was naturally shocked to see him make the finalists for NDPOY this week. I’m in the boat of his Dook wants him for 5 million they can have him.

Hot take Paul Mbiya will be better than Flory in a few years if not next season. 7’8 wing span with a high motor basically Doke 2.0 if the cards are played correctly. Give me some guards with height that can shoot and we are right back in the FF next season.

The problem is that won’t happen, we’ll likely lose Mbiya and Tiller to the portal, end up paying big bucks for Flory to stay and to get Stokes here. We finish up pretty much exactly the same as this season.

@kjayhawks2.0 mbiya cant move as wel as Flory. I think theres a reason we only saw him post season. I dont think there are too many dimensions to his game.

I don’t think don’t that’s a question at this point but think of where Mbiya would be had he gotten any minutes during the year. Flory runs the floor great and is super quick but Mbiya is exactly the type that Flory struggles to guard. Back him in and an easy jump hook that he can’t do anything to stop. That’s my biggest issue with the past few years, the right guys have not gotten the minutes imo. Dawson and Kohl should’ve played more with Mbiya to me.

Ignorant/Stupid question: Is it not allowed to establish a buyout on a player's contract so if another program wants a player, they not only have to pay the athlete, but also have to pay a buyout to the program?

For example, the buyout could be $500k if they leave after 1 year and $1m if after 2 years. Some sort of structure so the program gets some compensation for the investment it puts into the athlete that is simply transported to the other program... Right now, only the player gets compensated.

                            Rock Chalk!
