Former NBA player Scot Pollard to compete on Survivor
WARNING to all the contestants on the upcoming “Survivors 2016 Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty”… Don’t mess with Polly!
Polly doesn’t wanna cracker. He wants to win, and if someone “disturbs the peace” with Polly, they eventually realize the mistake they made by disturbing the frolicking giant. Just ask Cheryl Miller. Here are two clips from that episode. I kind of remember a third clip that really had the juicy stuff in it where Cheryl really got dissed and blew up and lost her cool. My guess is her legal counsel had that clip erased from public domain. Probably cost her a pretty penny to accomplish that, but she received an incredible amount of negative PR from it.

Me, too… except I know someone who used to have a working relationship with Survivor. It’s all scripted and a manufactured fairy tale.
They’ll probably have a 90 lb weakling outperform Scot on a physical task just to up the ratings.
Polly has a fun personality which often masks over how physically dominant he is. Polly is a beast when he wants to be.

I am not sure I like “Polly” and I don’t believe I have heard him referred by that nickname before; sounds like a girl’s name. I prefer what he used to be called while at KU, BUD, short for big ugly dude…
It sure will be interesting to see how he does. I hardly ever watch that show since it seems to be scripted to me; actually, I don’t care for any of the so called “reality shows” which are any thing but reality.

I think it is impossible for “reality” to come out of Hollywood. I recall a few years ago seeing something about a reality show (or single program) made about reality shows. It looked every bit as fake as the shows they were focused on.
One of the executive producers of Survivor is Jeff Probst… born in Wichita.

Networks like Reality show because they do away with writers who can a royal PIA and actors who are even bigger PIA. In fact, reality show got their big boost when writer went on strike. They have been prevalent in Europe for a long time.

I never understood the fascination with most of those programs. Big Brother was one of those that started in Holland and then was copied in the USA. Why do people want to watch it? Why not just look out your window and watch your neighbors closely if you need to “experience” more “people moments?”
It just tells me people have too much time on their hands.

“Polly” was our nickname for him going all the way back to KU. I don’t know how many people caught on to it.

Like I said, I never heard that nickname in reference to Pollard before. In Sacramento they called him Samurai Scott. His green Cady while at KU was nicknamed Marvin Martian…He is a different dude, that is for sure…but Polly? I still don’t like it and prefer BUD.

Thx for posting. Never heard about this incident.
It appears to explain why Pollard can’t get a coaching job pro or college. He got into it on national TV with some one apparently sent to do a hatchet job on him.
Gee, I wonder what the subtext was here?

P.S. It makes me respect Scott; that’s for sure.

I think what holds Scot back is the same thing that holds many creative people back. Scot doesn’t fit the stereotype of a typical coach, player… etc. so most people discount his ability. Scot tends to be whimsical but he has a great creative mind and for the most part, a winning attitude and drive for success. I can’t attest to his ability to coach, but I can imagine him to be quite effective. He is very personable and communicates creatively, sometimes that is what it takes to reach some players.
