Self vs Cal
-
OK - put out your torches and hide the pitchforks, I’m not suggesting anything, just trying to pick your brains a little.
If Calipari were offered the KU job, there would be a certain percentage of fans and alum that would think “Hmmmm. That might be a good idea”. (Not talking morals or scruples here, just who could win the most games. BIG games.)
If the Kentucky fans/alum were given the option of hiring Bill Self, here is the exact amount of them that would think it was a good idea.
ZERO
Tell me I’m wrong. Keep a straight face.

@nuleafjhawk to weird for me. What if they had to vacate wins?
-
I keep getting told KU is just fine and BS is just great. Yet I don’t see the top talent lining up to come to KU, and HCBS is taking the same approach with the basically the same team as last year. Which ended very badly.
I’m sorry to all those I’ve offended but I’m not going to run around singing the praise of HCBS when it’s obvious KU has some serious problems.
-
@DoubleDD we really don’t want you to sing anyway!!
-
You don’t want me signing. It’s so bad they kicked me out of church.
-
Cal fits perfectly the cheating mold that Adolph Rupp started at Kentucky and not the clean and proud tradition that Naismith and Phog Allen established at KU and every coach since then observed…
-
@JayHawkFanToo well said!

I don’t want KU to become a OAD school which is what Cal would do in your scenario, so no, I wouldn’t want him. Part of the fun of college hoops is “getting to know” our players. The revolving door of players means we don’t develop an identity, or a rapport with our players. It’s fun watching guys mature year by year, Tyshawn Taylor comes to mind. So no, no Cal here.
-
Apparently starting their careers at KU did not take with Rupp or CAl…
-
@JayHawkFanToo Remember, I said not talking morals or scruples, just who can win some NC’s. And please note, in no post since the MSU game have I suggested that BS needs to go, I just thought it would be interesting to talk about.

Kansas loses to Michigan State in its second game and everyone is going crazy,
So what happens if we do not even make the NCAA tournament, then lose in the first round to ROBERT MORRIS. (Calipari did this RECENTLY)
Some might literally jump off bridges…

In the words of Ron White “You can’t fix stupid.”

It would be bad… but wasn’t that the year after Calipari won his first and only NC?
I’m pretty sure most in here would like the idea of winning a NC then following it up in the NIT, versus no NC but continuing our tournament streak.
The freaking out from just one bad game relates to what people experienced being very similar to what our team was like at the end of last year. It was frustrating last year and it is frustrating now.
The season has just started and fans are feeling deflated. That isn’t a good thing at Kansas. We need to feel like we can win it all but instead fans got an instant repeat of last year already.
