Super Mario fresh start
-
One of my favorite Jayhawks Mario got traded to Memphis last week. I’m sure the faithful there might remember a certain 3 pointer he made, but he has been rejuvenated there. Here’s the line from the AP story that made me smile:
“Mario Chalmers’ transformation from one of the most despised figures in Memphis basketball history to fan favorite has taken all of three games”
Mario has been in double figures in all three Memphis games and took over against Nick C and OKC in the fourth on his way to 29 points last night.

@wissoxfan83 I’m thrilled he’s at a place that values him!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 The way the Heat used him as their whipping boy always infuriated me. If he committed a turnover, you’d either have Bosh yell at him, James death stare, or Wade scream during a timeout. If anyone else did, all they had to do was pat their chest and mouth “my bad”.
I understand treating an over zealous rookie like that. But Chalmers was a 5 year vet getting treated like that. How can anyone be expected to be productive when you’re in that environment?

@wissoxfan83
I watched him play Wigs and the Timberwolves the other night. Mario hit a few key 3s…
Wigs… he’s starting to play like the true superstar he is bound to become.

It’s hard to keep a team of egos happy. They need someone to beat up on to release all the anxiety because few of those guys are happy people.
-
@drgnslayr Rock Chalk Chalmers and Wiggins!!
-
@Lulufulu Basically those two and the Morris bros are the only productive former Jayhawks in the pros right now.
-
@wissoxfan83 Agreed. Our other great, Paul Pierce, is on his last leg of his ball playing career. Can’t deny he has been the best NBA Jayhawk in the last 20 years but the changing of the guard has come.
-
@Lulufulu Yes, I forgot about Paul. He’s a future hall of famer I think.
