ROYALS vs Astros Game 3
-
Johnny Cueto is a ROYAL…
-
@brooksmd Finnegan & 2 other minor league pitchers were involved in the trade. Now keeping Cueto may cost a fortune that they can’t afford. Hate to see Finnegan leaving. Good kid with lots of savvy.
-
@globaljaybird Unfortunately sometimes you have to sacrifice to reach the goal. Will cost a fortune to keep Cueto, Gordo…who else they gonna have to negotiate with before next year?
-
@brooksmd I think maybe Holland - not sure…
-
@globaljaybird Not sure I’d regret Holland leaving with his penchant this year for 9th inning dramatics.
-
@brooksmd I thought maybe they would trade him. Also been trade rumors abt A’s infielder Ben Zobrist for his bat, but I don’t want to alter defense infield chemistry by replacing Infante.
-
Ace looking good huh?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 fair to midlin’…
-
How’d ace get dirty?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 don’t know - maybe just needs a cleaner place to lay down…JK one of my fav sayings cause I am most times… But another of my fav ones is “we clean up PDG don’t we”…
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Ace had a good outing for a change. 1 run, 6 hits, 5 SO’s and no bb for 7 innings.
-
@globaljaybird YOU would come up w/a saying!
-
@globaljaybird Morales with a good 8th with 0’s across the board.
-
I was thinking he must have made a nice play?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I. Have at least one for most every occasion…
-
Ned wants more runs. Sub Dyson for Morales.
-
-
Dang I like speed!
-
Hot damn, great game. And the Yanks are putting it to Minn.
-
Could be 7.5 ahead of Minn shortly. Yanks 7-1 batting top of the 9th.
-
-
@brooksmd rio for sure! He was laying on my lap!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Doggie ones can be down right eye watering.
-
What’s everyone think of the Cueto trade? Looks like one heck of a pitcher, but I wish he had 2-3 years on his contract. Stinks to give up Finnegan, but Cueto should be really good for as long as he sticks around.
-
@dylans We don’t like we had to give up Finns, but it was a necessary move for post season. Good possibility that Cueto, as well as Gordon won’t be with the team next spring as both become FA’s. Royals might be able to afford one but not both especially since Moose, Cain and Hos will be in the same circus in '17. Near future not looking too good for small market Royals. But here and now, a WS ring is a real possibility this year.

@dylans @brooksmd Insiders say Finns had only one reliable ML pitch & that was his fastball & we know what big league hitters do to that. It’s Uncle Charlie that keeps em on the shelf. Other pitches marginal at best. Even at that I like him a lot & thought he had the intangibles to be a good pitcher. Eiland is a helluva coach & Cueto may end up even better now that he’s in KC. He has many friends here & the chemistry could really be special. He & Volquez are very close friends & speak to each other daily , or so reported. Also speaking of “Finns” the Marlins Martin Prado is rumored as a trade target before Friday also, as is Ben Zobrist of Oakland. Both guys are utility infielders & have outfield experience too. 2 of the 3 pitchers the Reds got were ML worthy & I really don’t know about another value-worthy trade candidate now I’d be willing to part with. But another bat with rbi’s in it would sure be nice. It’s really great to be a ROYALS fan now, but when the bill comes due next year it may not be so much fun. Hoz goes to the arbitrator if he chooses, Gordon can opt out, Cueto needs a contract, & Holland may get more like 12 mill from the arbitrator next year instead of the 8 mil he is getting for 2015. Not sure what they can part with at this point but they will get compensatory draft picks when losing FA’s like Cueto. They’ve a fewother FA’s next year like Young, Rios, & maybe Blanton so it looks like only Gordon & Cueto can break the bank, but I think there are more than a few like, Cain, Moose, etc., that will be eligible for arbitration again so Moore will have a lot on his plate after this season, if his platter’s really big enough to carry it all.
