Your Gold Spaghetti Winners... KU!
-
Congrats to the guys for bringing it home. Today was bound to be tough because our key players were worn down yesterday beating the Russians.
Way to tough it out, guys… spaghetti legs and all!
2nd, 3rd, and 4th winds… it took them all!
RCJH!

I am not even sure Nic has a Y-axis!!!
-
Perhaps not, but you got to love his x-axis last second steal!
How come we had to play an extra game? How come we played 8 and the Germans only played 7? In such a short period, that was a monstrous advantage, and we saw how close we came to losing to a very inferior team. In a well-rested game, we would have thrashed them.
-
@drgnslayr Great point! Didn’t know Germany played only 5, that’s a huge advantage over tired legs. WUG needs to revise that rule!
-
Because we are America. How come we had to fight revolutionary war? It comes with the turf of leading, rather than following!
Regarding Nic, I would give everything to have him play for KU.
He is the RussRob of runts.
He is a helluva basketball player.
His character is what allowed this team to transform from Self’s team into the players USA team. HE IS AN AMAZING GUY. I am on his team wherever he goes.
Nic Moore even rubbed off on Frank.
Nic will be the next great coach of the LB tree.

@jaybate-1.0 Ok, jb, I’m gonna pick on your brain and ask you to define/elaborate on Nic’s character, and how he allowed this team to transform from Self’ team into the players USA team? Dying to know… Thanks bunch.
-
@HawksWin And to expand on that, if Coach Self will learn from this and see the importance of letting his guys just play the game at times.

Nick has been chewed on by the best by LB. He is not a big talker, but he is a rock. He is built psychologically like he is physically. He and Frank have similarities. But Frank still isn’t absolutely sure he knows what he is doing, so he can’t always be absolutely confident in knowing to go forward without hesitation. Nic cuts to the Essence immediately. He sees what has to be done and does it. He can’t always get it done but he is almost right every choice. And he never wastes time dribbling through his legs trying to get the right angle or decide what to do; that’s a tell. Nic isn’t the greatest player, but he is one of the most efficient, and he knows what his teammates need. He won’t put a ball somewhere where one guy doesn’t like it. And he was this way with a team he has barely played with. And that play after Selden’s Trey! Most guys would never have even thought to do it! Go for a steal after a dagger shot? In second OT? To ice a game? Effing brilliant! Surprised the hell out of everyone and put KU IN CONTROL!

@jaybate-1.0 defensive play of week!
-
@jaybate-1.0 Thank you jb. Learned something about the guard play today! That comparison between Nic and Mason is pure gold. Now know why Mason just dribbles between his legs so often!!! So it’s safe to say Mason not only walked away with the gold, but also gained wisdom and confidence from this that should be worth more than gold - going forward? Or do you think Mason still has more to learn to become efficient & deliver like Nic or better?
-
@jaybate-1.0 Nic was a great player for us and for KU. That late game steal should resonate with KU fans all over, remembering Sherron’s steal against Memphis in 08. It was that kind of play. Mason should latch on to that kind of lead by example mentality from Nic Moore. Use it as motivation going forward.

What I really really liked about this game (one more “really” and it could be a “Self comment”)… was that Nick didn’t really (there is #3) have a good game, but he stepped up for the steal. He never gave up.
Wayne shot something like 3 for 548, but he stepped up and hit the big shot at the end.
Frank only had a few points until the end when he made clutch plays and baskets.
Perry was cold, too, but kept working through it until his shot came back.
If this had been last year, our guys would have rolled up the carpet and settled for the silver.
There was no settling in this game, in this team. Spaghetti legs and all, our guys kept fighting back. They fought back until the game went long enough to tire out the Germans.
We actually won like we won our other games, through attrition.
That takes a ton of heart!
I can’t wait until this coming season!
