Goals for WUG

  • What are everyone’s goals for our team for the next 40 days? What are Self’s goals? I know we all want to win the WUG, but outside of that and staying healthy what do you want to see the most? My 2 goals are for Vick to be able to create on his own, especially late in the clock. And for us to be able to transition to zone/press while in the flow of the game.

  • My goal for the WUG is being able to schedule around my life to watch all of the games!

  • My priority goal is no one else gets hurt.

Beyond that… I expect that everyone participating in WUG will see a benefit by being able to practice and then try to execute in games while the rest of D1 isn’t able to.

I think the 24 sec clock will become our friend. Moving it to 30 seconds in November will make the game seem slower while the rest of D1 thinks it feels faster.

It appears we got ZERO recruiting bump because of WUG. That aspect is disappointing. I guess all the OADs feel like they don’t need extra practice to improve…

I believe the recruiting aspect might help with lower ranked players but the OAD know that another year they will be making millions and can go anywhere so they probably don’t see it as a big deal.

I see the biggest benefit as the practice time with all the players. the games themselves are not that big of a deal and the US has not won gold in number of years so there is really not a lot of pressure to win, other than the self-imposed pressure. As long as no players is injured it will be a good experience for the players and a nice feather in the cap for the program.

The sad thing is that these kids want to play here in the states to make the big bucks but they don’t want to play for the country that will enable them to live out their dreams. The country that defends their freedoms and that provides them with the opportunity to capitalize on their God given skills and hard work. Even though these kids represent a very small portion of our youth its sad that NOT ONE of them signed up just to represent the greatest nation on the planet! There have been plenty professional athlete’s turn down millions to fight for our country in the past but this day in age we cant even get ONE high school ESPN top 100 kid to commit just because he loves our country! I know that PT is a big thing BUT we had 4 guys leave this year and 4 will be graduating next year with the possibility of Diallo, Selden, and/or Svi leaving too. They would have gotten PT after one year of learning the ropes! Heck the kids in TOP 20 wouldn’t have even had to wait!

  • Maybe we should have sent Cam Brady to tell them that High School Basket ball players are this Nations backbone!

I guess HCBS would have had better luck recruiting Pilipino tilt a whirl operators!
