Shaka Kahn About To Start Cursing Barnes

  • I have to admit… I have a hard time believing anything negative about Rick Barnes. So I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

But I wonder if this spreads into something bigger… something Shaka will have to deal with in his new position.

Are Longhorns in trouble? Texas contacts NCAA about academic misconduct allegations

Report: Academic issues alleged at Texas under Barnes

  • @drgnslayr Whoa! Man, if the powers that be find that UT was involved in academic misconduct etc, when Barnes was there, how can they rightfully punish UT when the players AND the coach are no longer there?

  • @Lulufulu

I don’t know… I guess like how Kansas was punished after Larry Brown left.

  • So can we say now that NotSoSmart jumped from the frying pan (A10, couldn’t win his own conf), into the FIRE! of the BigXII’s competition level, as well as this Longhorn investigation.

I tried to see what kind of reaction Self would offer when I asked him about Shaka’s comment about “apparently my style of play worked pretty well against the Big12 (in 2011 vs KU)”, to which Self craftily only said, “ya, he was talking about us in the Tourney…” (as if I didn’t know that, but then I realized there’s a ton of biz guys at this camp from all over the country, and less than half are KU-connected, which is sad.)

  • @drgnslayr

The accusations seem to be about isolated incidents and not the institutional, systematic cheating type of violation that went on at UNC. Unless something bigger and more closely tied to the program surfaces, I just don’t see this being a big deal and they probably get a slap on the wrist and a tutor or two get dismissed.

  • @JayHawkFanToo

That is what it looks like now… but often these small cases build into more. What are the chances that tutors or others only screwed up once or twice?

  • Regarding Rico Gathers, I don’t know much about the kid, other than he is a worthy competitor on the hardwood. I recall specifically his pained expression when they had us beat in Waco, but we came back and won.

I hope Rico gets to play, not only for his own sake, but so we can whup his entire squad on the hardwood, as usual. That’s all that matters.

This is a season where the Univ. of KS shouldn’t be afraid of any team in the nation, not KY, not Duke, not Louisville, not the Shox, nor the Longhorns or Baylor.

  • @ralster Dont we play UK this season @ AFH? That is going to be nuts! I hope we beat those guys by 45 points.

  • @Lulufulu I think we do play KY

  • @drgnslayr

We are entering first a purge and then a witch hunt about academic improprieties.

The fire has been set and spread by special interests with a regime change agenda to get their guys in control of the athletic departments and their guys in as coaches.

You ain’t seen nothing yet. All the big trees are going to get scorched sooner or later.

This is fire starter and barn burner stuff. The special interests started the first fires to set this in motion, so now the various sides are setting counter fires. Soon all of D1 will be ablaze and the special interests will step in and rereguate the whole thing. You read it here first.

    BARN BURNERS!!!

  • P.S.: the way we know this is designed is that the real corruption of the game is not even being hinted at in mainstream sports media!!

  • BARN BURNERS!!!

  • Couldn’t resist the allusion to “THE LONG HOT SUMMER.” 😀
