Didn’t wear batting gloves, sunglasses (except flipdowns for flyballs during day games), chewed tabaccy instead of sunflower seeds, had more starting pitchers than relievers and you played for the team you signed with until they traded you. None of this free agent crap.

Cable is crazy. I have a main TIVO unit in the living room. Then I have mini-TIVO units in mbdrm, computer room, and wife’s office. Each mini uses a tuner on the main unit which has a total of 6 tuners for recording 6 different programs at the same time. If I watch the game on one of the mini’s it’s usually a half inning ahead of the main unit. Figure that out.

Yeah I almost always love the throwbacks, really like these today. What’s your opinion? My father was telling me for the Negro League game we had against the Yankees that we asked the Bronx Bombers to wear the throwbacks for the New York Black Yankees and then donate the uniforms to the museum and they refused to do so! How ridiculous is that? I needed no more excuses to hate the Evil Empire but that gave me another.

@VoyagingJayhawk Oldest son just told me that afterwards they ended up donating items/memorabilia for auction but I had not heard about it. I also thought it was cheap of the Yankees not to participate in that particular game day event.

Love going to the museum when I’m home, I rarely don’t make it. One of my favorite stories from that era of baseball is about one of the great managers, the New York Giants’ John McGraw. When he passed away, his wife went through his effects and found in a stack of papers all of the black ballplayers he had gone to see play and whom he wished he could have signed. We do not know of some of the greatest ballplayers to ever play the game. What a shame that is!
