So you want a KU fix?

Admit it you’re a KU junkie. The quiet period the last week has you squeamish. You want to sink your teeth in something KU. Well if you have some time? Enjoy. Some of you may have already seen. Well enjoy again.

My first time watching. You’ll have to accuse me, but this story this film brought me back to the days when I was a young boy and read the books “Where the Red the Fern grows”, and “Old Yeller”

This shit brought a tear to my eye and made me so glad that I found my love for KU growing up on the streets of KC.

That entire series, “30 for 30”, is one of the better documentary series of today, perhaps the best. I set me DVR for all of them and haven’t been disappointed yet. This particular episode is definitely up there at the top, just because it shows us all how a Jayhawk took his spirit and made something big happen.

What I would like to see happen now, is someone with this same passion for Jayhawk history to step up and plot more of the basketball legacy in Lawrence. Uncover some of the other historic points, and put them on the map at Lawrence. Build this into a basketball tourism project so visitors can come and acquire a basketball map of all the key points in Lawrence. Everything from Naismith’s grave to AFH. There must be several spots in between. The game of basketball deserves to be documented properly and setup to tell the story of how this game came to be one of the great sports on the planet.

What a fantastic off season fix! And what a great documentary. One thing is for sure: There is absolutely nowhere else in the world that the rules should be but KU. And to think what a travesty it would have been had some Duke guy outbid David Booth.

  • @DoubleDD, Thanks for posting. Seems like I saw a short version of this somewhere but really enjoyed the whole story.

  • @oldhwkfan I was glad to hear it wasn’t two separate KU folks with good intentions unknowingly running the price up on each other. As for Duke bidding, good thing they didn’t win out. THANK YOU Mr. Booth and Josh Swade…
