THERE SEEMS TO BE A SHIFT IN THE GUARD MINUTES BETWEEN GRAHAM AND SELDEN?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Haha…great minds think alike
-
Also, hard to have the quick hook when the guy doesn’t miss a shot!
I just looked at Graham’s game log, and in the first match-up with TCU he played 26 minutes (which was tied with his brief career high until today’s 27) and was 3-3 from the field. So this appears to be a good match-up for him, and he’s now 10-10 against the Horned Frogs in two games!
-
It could probably be that Devonte was just holding a hot hand or?
Poor Cliff, he is beating himself up when he’s on the bench. Oubre seem to be down on his performance. We don’t need the Freshman wall to hit us at this juncture.
I would not trade our two point guards for the UK Twins. Except for Mason’s two fouls on a three point shot, they were both spectacular.
Hey Cyber critics, what will you say if Perry is Big 12 player of the year?
-
Seldens TO’s! Hard to justify those!
-
@wrwlumpy I agree. I LOVE our PG situation. I only hope going forward that Bill can find minutes for both to keep both satisfied. Because Graham is only a year behind Mason, it’s not like he’s going to be content to just “wait his turn”.

Sorry for four post, it would not take the montage.
-
@wrwlumpy I keep waiting to see one unkind word that these “cyberbullies” that keegan and company keep yammering about, but I haven’t seen it on multiple boards. Was that over at kusports? Where did you see this bullying?
-
That was an awesome play! Frank has improved around rim since that first game against, you know.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Play of the year, imo. Frank “bagged” him. BTW, Devonte looks INCREDIBLE. I don’t think that Selden’s spot is in jeopardy anytime soon, however. And…I sure hope Greene’s hand is ok.
-
Selden had only one TO as per score sheet; Mason had 4.
-
I agree that Self was going with the hot hand. Selden will play more than 22 mins. most games.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Mason sit for quite awhile 1st half. Self said in post game he wasn’t aggressive first half. Others too!
-
The Cliff thing is puzzling. Shouldn’t he have gotten another chance in the 2nd half? It’s not like Traylor or Lucas were playing all that great.
-
@KUSTEVE One of our topics talked about the hate towards Perry missing the last shot. Most of these were Tweets from pseudo Jayhawk fans.
-
@Hawk8086 Coach is letting Brannen play through his defensive lapses, but Cliff is being used by opponents scouting, telling every one to drive on him. He is costing us on the defensive end. With Shepard with four fouls, Self felt comfortable with the best five ball handlers and the fewest defensive liabilities on the court.
-
Today with Graham seemed like nothing more than the hot hand thing, as others have mentioned. Nice to have that option. I couldn’t be more comfortable with our PG situation. Terrific players.
-
By the way, in the last picture, there is an awful lot of advertising on the goal post.
-
Sorry I don’t know who the photographer is that took this photo, but it is the best one of the year. It reminded me of how these two connected on the best Ally Oop of the year today. Watch for it on Sportscenter tonight.
-
The end of the spectacular play from KU Tweets.
-
I am not getting excited about Graham’s shooting. It is the epitome of “fools gold”. It was his drives and his passes that got me giddy. He said he was playing “soft” and the next game he fixed. That is refreshing to see a player back up is comments.
-
I fully agree. At this time Greene has lot more upside than Cliff; however, his defense is still not up to par although it has improved quite a bit this season. In the NCAA when the game is close who do you want to have, Greene with and improved, albeit, not great defense and the scoring potential he brings or Cliff, who so far has been wildly inconsistent and other than a few highlights here and there has really not progressed as we all expected?
I would take my chance with Greene who, BTW, had 6 rebounds today.
-
What I have kept thinking about these last few weeks is imagine Selden, Mason and Graham in two years, or even next year? I’m not sure if any is an early entry candidate, so, wow, a loaded backcourt!
-
@JhawkAlum he said in post game he was lucky. Self said it was the best job of getting the ball in the paint.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 He will defintely be a capable shooter in a couple years. But for right now, I liked Mason only had to play 32 minutes in a close game.
-
I don’t think of Devonte as a baby faced kid anymore, more like a cold blooded assassin. Photo from KU Sports. .

Devonte had a great game. He single handily with Mason & Ellis saved this game. It was great to see him respond to his own criticism of his game and then come out and have maybe the game of his career.
I think Self just rode the hot hand and with 2 driving point guards out there we were just too quick for TCU. Selden had one of those games where he was just kind of there, a few plays that don’t show up in the box score but offensively he was just out there.
Devonte must now keep this aggressiveness. If he performs similar on Monday on the road I will believe this game wasn’t just a quick up because before yesterday his game was trending way down. His turnovers in the West Virginia game were very freshman like. He’s averaged 3 points a game on the road including Zero in his last 3 games away from Allen. It’s much easier for a freshman to perform well at home then away so I will be paying attention to how he does against the kitties.
