    Never forget this!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 My favorite post! Thanks.

  • @wrwlumpy wonder if he is allowed back in? Last year was chippy too, Embiid got a T, right? I can’t wait! I think Cliff will have a great game!

  • Larry Eustachy is a hero to those who have suffered with the disease of alcohol addiction. He has been sober for many years and speaks about it on every talk show that interviews him. “One beer is too many and a thousand is not enough.” Tim Floyd, on the other hand, goes from one scandal to another.

  • @wrwlumpy I’m loving these collages that you’re putting together! Well done, I’m so amped for this game on Saturday if we can pull this game out it will go a long way in securing #11 for us. The games the last few years with them have been pretty testy, I hope it doesn’t turn into a game like Tuesday that takes forever because of all the fouls. It would be awesome if KO, Svi, and Greene could all go off in this game. We need to spread it out and beat them at their own game. We have the horses to do it, but will they get out of the gate?

  • @HawkInMizery Excellent post

  • @wrwlumpy thanks!! I loved that team!

  • From ESPN Insider - Jeff Goodman. I’m not an Insider so can’t get the whole article.

Seeing the headline though, I knew who would be No. 1:

College hoops’ 10 most hostile venues

##Allen Fieldhouse (where KU is 8-0 this season) has been a house of horrors for Kansas opponents.

There are a variety of factors that make an arena hostile. First, you need passionate fans. You also need a quality product. Sure, the size of the building can help, though bigger does not always mean better. One arena on this list holds only 6,000 people. Another seats nearly 20,000. I talked to players and coaches and also drew from my own experience of going to venues to come up with the Top 10 most hostile college basketball environments:

    **1.
Kansas’ Allen Fieldhouse – It’s a no-brainer for the list, and a no-brainer for the top spot. It holds more than 16,000 people, and about 25 percent of the seats are reserved for students. It gets loud, the fans are rabid, and the Jayhawks are almost always good. **

##“Their fans are so loud and there’s just so many of them. It’s like you are trapped, everywhere you look.” – Iowa State’s Georges Niang.

To continue reading this article you must be an Insider

  • Someday, if I wish and wish and be good, I’ll be an Insider.

  • @RockChalkinTexas

Pat Forde called…he says AFH is way overrated and the Mizzou Arena (aka “Only sold out when KU comes” Arena) is the real deal 😉

  • @JayHawkFanToo Isn’t that the case with most every other Big 12 arena - they only sell out when the Jayhawks come to play? I know that is the case with the “drum” they call here in Austin - The Erwin Center. Any other game and there are barely 8,000 people there, including the opponents.

  • @wrwlumpy You’re right, he’s still one of my favorite coaches.

  • @RockChalkinTexas

…on the other hand, they sell out their huge football stadiums and we don’t sell our own not so big one. No question that Texas is football country.

MU? I could not care less; I am sure they are regretting building that new arena that is an embarrassment every time they show it on TV and is not even half full; for some games they had just over 5,000 in attendance or 1/3 full…pathetic.

  • @wrwlumpy I love these presentations of yours too. Thanks so much for the effort.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Pathetic is ok with most misery fans-look how they embrace the antlers? And even in public !

  • Never been to Ames, but Iowa has sort of a corny capitol:

  • This makes it tough in Hilton to run the Out of Bounds play.

  • The Vegas line has ISU by 4…

  • @wrwlumpy Here’s the scenario : in 2016, it will be 50 years since UTEP ( Texas Western) beat Kenyucky. Timmay Floyd wants a rematch in 2016, and Yucky said no. So, Timmay goes off on this screed against Yucky, essentially playing the race card. Floyd is just a loud mouth, imo.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I would be interested in an analysis of the Vegas line for our games:

    • Does the initial line tend to move up or down as game time nears?
    • Do we tend to beat the initial line?
    • Do we tend to beat the final line?

I suspect that KU fans, being numerous and passionate, would tend to bet on KU more than a purely rational bettor would. That bias would move the line in such a way as to make it harder for KU to win against the line. It would also make folks who bet on KU lose money in the long run.

Whenever I read about the line, it always seems to move the same way. I wouldn’t be surprised to see ISU favored by less than 4 before game time.

    Thoughts?

  • @ParisHawk

As I have mentioned before, the opening line has a resemblance to what the end result would be, but once the bets start coming in, the line is moved to balance the money bet (not the number of bets) and it has nothing to do on who will win or what the margin of victory will be; Vegas want bet even;y balanced so it has a guaranteed profit.

In the last 3 games Baylor was favored and KU won. Against TTU, KU was favored by 14 and won by over twice that. Against OSU, KU was favored by 7(?) ad won by 10.

Most of the time, the line will open at a number and pretty quick it will settle on a new number that is reasonably close ad will keep bets balanced. Ask yourself, why would the line change when nothing else related to the game itself has? Same teams, same venue, same coaches, no injury report…nothing…It changes because bets are leaning one way and the line needs to be changed so the new bets will go the other way and balance the overall wagered money.

Experienced and professional bettors bet with their heads and they have their own services that provide detailed information and they bet accordingly depending on where the line is. Amateur or occasional bettors bet with their heart and follow allegiance rather than logic. Nothing wrong with either approach; one does for a living, the other one for fun.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Thanks a lot. I thought that was how it worked. I was just wondering if there were enough amateur pro-KU bettors to move the line significantly. Since you say we beat the line the last 3 games, I guess not.

  • Absolutely beautiful campus, great school, and a town that is only second to Lawrence in my mind…

However, they simply have the dumbest fans I’ve ever seen. They take stupidity to a special level. It’s as if they’ve never lost a game, only been screwed over by the referees. Despite they’re ranking, and the very respectable success they’ve had in the past few years, there will be a court storming if they win.
