OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS
-
I don’t think we (fans) give Self enough credit for sticking it out at Kansas. Coaches get the 7-yr itch just like grooms do. Fortunately, the administration has shown their thanks with a hefty contract…

Wishful thinking from a Missouri fan…

Speaking of the “Itch”, while researching the Alumni of OSU, I remembered the stories during the 2008 National Championship where Cal and Bill took out the two girls they had just met, to find out who was from which college and then, through the LJW I found out that Cal’s wife was married to Nolan Crowmwell, the All-American Quarterback at KU. Then, looking further, I found that Cal had been at KU previously coaching the JV for Ted Owens. Nolan was playing for the Rams and had an apartment in LA while Ellen stayed in Lawrence and worked in the Ticket office. Then, I ended up on a Louisville sports blog where Kentucky trolls were pimping the Cardinals about the Pitino sex scandal, and the Cardinals were arguing back about Cal, Ellen and her break up with Nolan as being just as scandalous. I found no proof of this and other articles mention that she was divorced from Nolan before she met Cal.

I actually played with basketball’s that had laces.
-
How is the Byron Houston collage coming along?
-
I’m going to hell for this Jaybate.
-
For John McLendon, whom KU Basketball owes an apology for not having done MORE for, and who should consider it a great privilege and honor to have contributed at all to enabling his great contribution to the game of basketball. He developed the modern running game, he won three NAIA championships at Tennessee State, coached in the ABA, and influenced Larry Brown greatly. And when his run was over, he came back and accepted us despite our flaws.
-
I don’t think so. But I wouldn’t go to Stillwater for awhile.
-
“Lord” Byron Houston? That is a name from the past; great player but flawed individual.
-
@wrwlumpy I’ve seen far better at the Oklahoma State Fair. Them long-legged cowgirls in their painted on jeans and strategically unbuttoned blouses and boots. Some even wore hats. Ah, the memories.
-
@brooksmd no, yes, yes, no, no, yes yes yes.
-
Speaking of Oklahoma dogs… Here’s my dog in front of the least imaginative statehouse in the country. Gotta love the literal monument to the oil and gas industry planted right at the front entrance! Hire an artist next time, OK?!
-
@DanR it’s so cool to be your dog! I forgot his/her name. You really need to take rascal on one of your many travels!
-
@brooksmd brooks!!!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 (rofl)
-
@brooksmd When I was 21 I was engaged to a very pretty, long legged barrel racer. Her Dad had been a horseback deputy in Idaho. Yes sir, the memories for sure.
-
@globaljaybird would that be the present mrs global?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Uh…no ma’am.
-
@globaljaybird oops!!!
-
@JayHawkFanToo Wasn’t it Fred White (announcer) who used to call him that? Fred was one of my most favorite guys. I miss him doing play by play. If it were up to me he’d be in Cooperstown right there with Denny Mathews. JMO
-
@globaljaybird Me thinks @Crimsonorblue22 is trying to keep us under control. When she gets to be our age she’ll understand the simple things in life like reminiscing. (giggle)
-
@brooksmd you guys make me laugh! Thanks!!!
-
@globaljaybird
I seem to recall that was his nickname; on the other hand we had “Sir” Richard Scott…

Anyone think Coach would try some junk defenses? Don’t remember how many pts forte had last year, but the game was intense, a few technicals, etc. If I remember right, we were up quite a few and let them back in. We have lots of weapons to throw at them, should be fun!!
-
The first game in Lawrence was indeed very intense game and KU won by 2 after leading at half by 17. There were 6 technical or flagrant fouls. Here is a link to the game recap. OSU won the return game in Stillwater 72-65 and prevent #5 KU from winning the conference title outright.
-
@JayHawkFanToo I was at the game, so exciting. Wasn’t that the infamous flagrant 1 on Selden? The game at osu was a real low for us. Tharpe getting hit in the head! It was satisfying to beat them in a tough draw for the tourney, w/out Embiid!
-
We will be behind in this game probably several times. I won’t worry as long as we keep it close.
-
Sometimes, the man guarding Forte will have to fight through 5 or 6 different screens.
It seems like he’s been there for ever. Coach will have something special to stop him. He won’t make every one and we have to be ready for the long rebounds.
-
@wrwlumpy “it seems like he’s been there forever” ha ha! Who was the short dude before him? Those 2 and heslip seemed to be there forever!!! They sure didn’t beat us very many times! I’ve never thought one hot hand could beat a team.
-
Coach Self should place a call to his friend Frank Martin at South Carolina, they held Forte to 1-10 from the 3 and 1-14 overall for a total of 5 points and won comfortably 75-49. Just sayin’
-
That was Keiton Page, the original Smurf on Steroids; Forte is the Smurf on Steroids Part Deux.
-
@JayHawkFanToo who do you think will guard who? Selden could post one of those guards up, guess oubre too. Doesn’t osu play some zone?
-
@JayHawkFanToo I swear, I saw another short guy on the bench that reminded me of both of them. A3rd perhaps?
-
Anthony Hickey is 5’-11" senior guard (28. mpg, 9.3 ppg) and Tyree Griffin a 5’-10 freshman guard (10.1mpg, 1.3 ppg). Forte, a junior, is listed at 5’-11" (33 mpg, 17.7 ppg). No question that Travis Ford, (5’-9" ) favors and has had good success with short guards like himself.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 : I was going to say you must be thinking of Ford.
-
The kid I saw was a small white kid, clone to the other 2. He didn’t play.
-
Maybe it was a walk-on or something. They have a couple of guys that sit on the end of the bench that are listed as 6’2" so they’re probably about 5’10".
-
The closest (white kid) would be Ford Stuen, a 6’-2" junior guard (2mpg, 1.2ppg)
-
@JayHawkFanToo could be, just saw him coaching up forte during a time out.
