Room on the White Sox bandwagon?
-
@wissox watching the replay of Giolitos start. Should be an exciting season with all the CWS young talent getting a little more seasoned. Mind if I adopt the White Sox (a bit) as I’ve got the MLB pkg for the month?
-
Moncada is a beast!
-
I have been impressed by the new Royals manager, while it is early, seems to be an upgrade over Ned.
-
Wow they’ve won 8 games and they’re still in the cellar. When did AL Central become toughest division from top to bottom?
-
They have been working on it for a few years. Royals future is looking better. A lot of young pitching prospects. If developed properly Royals can contend in couple of years.
-
@AsadZ good to see Duff get the win, he’s been pitching good but no hitting back up!
-
2022 Royals should be able to contend if ownership is willing to spend and get some free agent pitching in to help.
-
@approxinfinity Hey! Never saw this thread. Yes there’s a lot of room on the bandwagon. Glad to have you! Sox a little inconsistent right now, but at 11-11, that’s in playoff contending territory. Long time since we’ve been paying attention to the Sox this late in the season.
-
@wissox yeah! The central looks like it’s up for grabs still. Its not going to be easy but they definitely can hit and play relatively error free baseball. I haven’t watched that closely, a few games. The Nats have most of my handwringing attention. Im also impressed with the Os. We have played them 5 Times now and they’re legit. Pitching is strong and the bats get it done.
-
Yeah the o’s are an interesting case. Pretty quick rebuild. Nats showing difficulty of repeating in baseball
-
@wissox what about your new job?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Haven’t started yet. Will be teaching remotely until February believe it or not! That could change after 1st quarter.
-
@wissox what grade are you teaching, still in high school? English? Are you excited or not? Very far from home? Just fill me in. Thx!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 doing 6th gr sciences. Always excited to start the year!
-
@wissox nice! I’ve got a 6th grader, going to be virtual starting in a new school. Do you have any interesting books about science you’d recommend? He’s a voracious reader (though mostly fantasy, I probably also need to find some good science fiction for him to bridge the gap).
-
@approxinfinity Ugh,public disclosure, I’ve always been a social studies teacher but through some strange circumstances got a new job in a new district teaching science. The Gary Paulson books have a bit of science in them and are good reads. Hatchet is his best known, but he has a lot of outdoorsy type books and I suppose they’ve got some good science in them.
The “boy who harnessed the wind” is really good too.

Back on the Sox theme this highlight is a classic. The flyball interceptor is Luis Robert who’s a ROY favorite and future perennial MVP candidate. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/video/luis-robert-steals-jimenez-catch-eloys-face-says-it-all
