Will Someone on KU Make Up Their Minds about Lingerie?
-
The team goes from everyone wearing lingerie to no one wearing the crap.
Presently, Oubre seems to be the only guy really nursing a bum knee and wearing a heavy duty wrap.
Even Selden’s bare legged against Kent State.
And while we are at this mind making up stuff, will someone ask Self to make up his mind who can play and who can’t?
All of this yo-yo-ing of PT is getting absurd a the end of December.

@jaybate-1.0 match ups and hot hand! Don’t know about the knee wraps. I saw some good things tonight, guess you didn’t. Hem either. Love the fast break and the post guys did better and wings got the ball in better too. To many TO’s, unforced kill me! Glad Self kept oubre in w/2 fouls and TO’s. We out rebounded them. Free throws are back to crappy! Cliff is getting better, still has a ways to go. Loved the energy. I do agree Selden is very puzzling!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Refreshing to read your optimism. I need some after Kent game. All of what you note is true. Trouble is what HEM and I note is true, too.
The bright spot for me was Self trying to score off the secondary break.
JNew mentioned it in his story, so I know I was not imagining it.
I wrote awhile back that the secondary break was a spot where we might pick up 3 easy FGs per game out of the mobility of our big men, if we just ran a little.
Scoring much off the primary break requires good rebounding. We often can’t do that.
But the secondary break is the trailing bigs and can be exploited in any sort of hurry up. Roy used to do it some even on made baskets.
Sometimes all the secondary break is is just bigs posting low block quickly and getting a quick pass from a primary breaker that has pulled the ball up on the wing. Even bad rebounding teams can run a secondary break. It can even draw some fouls and FTs. It’s just your bigs trailing and hustling faster down the floor faster than their bigs. Our bigs are fast . So hurry the ball down floor with our perimeter guys not to score themselves, but to feed the secondary break as it arrives Just 3 easy baskets per game could be a huge edge for this team right now.
Also the simplified passing lane assignment change sounds small, but could be big for these guys. It is kind of a space filling approach, rather than a mechanically unfolding approach to getting down the floor. This team needs to get in transition more often and more quickly and this might help.

@Crimsonorblue22 Glad to hear the sun is still shining, the birds are chirping, and KU is back to winning again. Nice to hear positive perspective, although I admit I think we’ll continue to look ugly winning unless we do something about those sepia colored jerseys.
-
I’ve missed quite a few games because the PPV here has been $119. Last night it dropped to $29 so I saw the game. As all have posted there are ups and downs…
-
@JayhawkRock78 Every market is different, but in my state I subscribe to ESPN full court for about $100 for the season. For that I get 4-5 KU games that I would not normally get to see…I figure I’ll spend that much on gas, food, and drink per game if I go somewhere to watch…plus I get to see other games on ESPNU and other PPV channels.
-
@Hawk8086 can you out of state people get espn 3? My son gets the games in Chicago area, w/my cox password.
-
Last year I got most our games on basic. Things changed this year for some reason. I didn’t think about the ESPN full court option-thanks much for the tip.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I’m out of the country and watch almost all the games on ESPN3 with a buddy’s account and password. My computer tells ESPN I’m in Alaska. Anybody who is blacked out can do the same thing; trick the site to think you’re somewhere else.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Yes. I can get ESPN3 on the laptop. But all of those games are covered on the full court package.
-
@tundrahok I remember my first night in Canada when a game was on. I thought I would watch the KU vs. MSU game. (I had been told that College Basketball was covered in Canada) Big game. Part of the Champions Classic. Turned on the TV and got Junior Hockey. Silly me. Now if I’m there, I find a sports bar that carries the packages.
-
@Hawk8086 so even these preseason games that are on jhawk network you get? I guess that’s what SZ wants.
-
@Hawk8086 If you can get a Canadian sports bar to change the channel away from hockey, you are doing pretty well! Hockey is still king, even junior hockey, but it is getting better for basketball fans.
Canadian networks are required by law to show a certain percentage of Canadian content…Wiggins must count, because last year all KU games were shown on one of the sports networks here (ESPN2 equivalent). Sometimes it was delayed by a few hours though, after a big hockey game finished. The best option was usually ESPN online (using a Baltimore account and an Alaska IP address), and usually still is, with no Canadian KU players this year.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Ahhh. I’m not sure about the pre-season games. I did not watch them, but I can’t remember if I subscribed in time for those or not.
-
“If you can get a Canadian sports bar to change the channel away from hockey, you are doing pretty well!”
I would say so! Trading a real sport for tiddlywinks…
-
Time Warner and Comcast (the only two providers in the KC Metro area that carry the blacked out KU games) are the two most hated and with worst customer satisfaction firms of any business in the Country…
My agreement with Surewest was up and I looked into switching to Comcast so I could get the blacked out games. I talked to sales via phone call and got one set of information and prices, did an on-line chat and got completely different information, stopped by their office in Olathe and was told the information I got from the other two “official” Comcast sources was wrong and was given a third set of information. I decided to stay with Surewest, since I could not get a straight answer from Comcast…and this is who Zenger wants me to sign with? Un-effing-believable. Time Warner is not even available in my area. Zenger needs to have the contract modified or be fired; amazing that an Athletic Director would agree to such a bad contract.
-
When talking about Zenger, it is always important to remember that he hired Charlie Weis, knowing Weis had been .500 at Notre Dame.
-
@jaybate-1.0 pretty sure we know that!
