Interesting point. You can’t get too cocky when you lose your first game. Seemed an issue with some previous teams, but maybe this team’s intensity will continue throughout the regular season and into the post season.
The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of playing such a recognized opponent the first game - as long as we lose. Because the outcome is really meaningless for the first game of the season, but our young players may not recognize that. If they win, they get big heads. If they lose, they will work harder.
Wait, did I just advocate losing to Duke every year? Ick!
