Well here we are right about half way right? - So ?

  • Ok guys , so thinking we are about half way into our Season - -think it’s time to see evaluate where we are. - -The question is , are we making progress?

I myself , I have to think , even though these last couple of weeks makes it hard to think so - - I truly feel /believe that yes - - -yes we actually are making progress. Might not be monster progress - but it is progress.

Once again we have to remember just how bad we were. - - - I think our biggest problems are the same as they have been maybe just not to the same degree. - - I think our # 1 main problem is our QB , Carter has done decent - -at times – like yesterday when he took the team actually on a 99 yd drive where we went in the lead 7-0 - -other times he has look bad - -really bad, If we can get a top quality QB ?

The other Concern /problem for us continues to be our Offensive line , just seems they can’t maintain their block long enough/create for our backs to find a seam - - now yesterday was better but still concerns.

One thing I will say - - these guys hit - - we will stick you, some pretty dam really good bell ringers , and we do have some pieces on D – I think another year or two of Les full year of recruits will really start seeing some real progress. - - We got to remember this is his 1st year and not a full yr of recruits. - -We already see what he did in a full cycle of recruits - -If we could cap that off with Clayton - -the ya - -real progress.

Our freshmen that he recruited are getting game experience - - Parker & Mayberry -another thing still need to get a little more pressure on the defensive side. - - we knew or we should have known that this wasn’t going to happen overnight - -we didn’t get this bad over night. - just feel we ARE making progress - -IF we could just find us THAT QB - -patience - - - patience - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I’d say we have made some progress in some areas but none or even regressed in others. That being said it’s unfair to compare this team to last years when we lost all but 9 starters and were only able to sign 15 recruits. The progress or lack there of the offensive line is disappointing. I feel like we have gotten worse as a group there when we returned everyone but the center. The defense I think has been a working progress and probably better than I expected. I was worried we could average 45 ppg or more let up. The main issue I have is the Coastal loss, which just inexcusable IMO and the playing calling which could improve after today’s firing. I really think we have to give Miles a pass on this first season with what he inherited. He already has as many road wins as the previous 4 coaches counting Bowen. 2 wins in year one is the same or better than MM, Beaty or Weis did. I’ll bet we steal one and match Gill’s 3 wins but he inherited a much much better situation. Im just hoping we can have a big offseason, get a QB and some linemen on both sides. I’ll stress to everyone again, this isnt a sprint rebuild and shouldnt be treated that way. The other coaches since MM short cutted it time and time again. That’s what killed our scholarship numbers. Why SZ sat back and let Beaty repeat Weis’s errors is baffling.

more interested with next year after he has had a full year of recruits -hell with Beaty would we even have any recruits for next year?. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 Yes, KU would’ve had recruits if Beaty was still here. The reason the 2019 class was the mess that it was is because Beaty was a lame duck coach going into the season so recruiting was hurt due to that. If Beaty wasn’t on the hot seat in 2018 either, that class would look very different as well and he would’ve had a solid 2019 class as well.

Beaty came to KU with a reputation as a good recruiter and he absolutely upgraded the talent at KU. It was most other aspects of coaching that he was subpar at.

KU was about 5 plays away from being a bowl team in 2018. They aren’t far away now either. KU is a QB away from being 4-2 this year. For all the crap Beaty gets, he left Les Miles in a much better position than what Charlie Weis left Beaty in.
