When You Need To Start Worrying About Your Team:
-
It happens some times. Our guys looked pretty raw at times in both of their preseason games.
-
Christian Brothers?
I thought that was a clothing store for men? No wait… Brooks Brothers… sorry.
The fizzle has left Josh’s career. I remember when he was an “up-comer.”
-
@drgnslayr Hilarious. I get giddy over Div 2 losses, especially when Pastner is involved.
-
HC Larry Brown said that Kentucky should run the table with their talent. Wonder if they have any of those undefeated shirts left over from last years clearance rack that were selling for a buck?
-
@JRyman One of the gravest injustices done to me last year was UK’s tournament resurrection. They were done. They were a joke. They lost their fannies, and like a phoenix, they were re-born. i think sucking helped them take the pressure off for their tournament run, so I hope everyone tells them how good they are, and that pressure makes them fold like a cheap tent.
-
@KUSTEVE Same here, thought they would make Elite 8 and be done, but nooooooo. That really hurt to watch last year.
I’d like to see them get to the dance as everyone’s darling and blow it in the 1st or 2nd round ala Duke.
-
Or how about the shirts that said “striving for perfection?”
I saw those on a rack for $2.49 and I just couldn’t force myself to buy one, even though the humor value would have been priceless!
Yeah… a first round KO would be great, and to experience the shake-up in Lexington. Contrary to what everyone believes, that Calipari is a God there for bringing back winning basketball and recruiting the elite players, there are still many hard-and-true Kentucky fans that really know basketball and absolutely hate Calipari. They have the same discussions we have where we struggle with having a revolving door team every year (or the possibility of) and how they miss the experience of quality 4 and 5 year players who develop along the way. And they know X’s and O’s are not Calipari’s strength.
Or even better, a cheap suitcase! Their bags will already be packed for home!
-
Worst loss in recent memory…defending NCAA Champion UK losing to Bobby Mo in the opening round of the NIT!
-
This is a great topic … reminds me of Aaron Rodgers “RELAX” comment to Green Bay fans this season.
But anytime is a good time to worry. Why? Because nothing is certain. In college hoops, one bad night can turn the best season, and perhaps the best team in many years, into a huge disappointment (See 1997 Jayhawks).
I’m like Stupid Michael from the other site. I’ll always worry … until that national title trophy is being held by Coach Self in April
But how exciting is the start of the season? This is the best.
-
@HighEliteMajor Actually, I just wanted an excuse to make fun of Memphis…lol. Losing to … the Christian Brothers…say what?
-
Okay the two rules of biz and general conversation is avoid religion and politics. Yet when I fess up to playing a cupcake I will ,say, “we played lady of our sorrows high”.
Never knew there was a Christian Brothers college and yes it sounds like a team nobody wants to lose to. But hey, I’m a Christian myself.
-
@JayHawkFanToo I’m thinking it’s the BEST loss!
-
ROTFL, you have that right. If you are not a UK fan that is indeed the best loss.

I use names like, Directional State, Marys School of the blind, Hannah Montana St., middle of the road state,
-
@JRyman Thanks-Those are good-I may borrow a couple.
-
@KUSTEVE I was not aware of any ill feelings towards Pastner. I mean sure he worked for one of the biggest pariahs in college ball but still. Make no mistake though, I don’t want to deprive anyone of their bit of Schadenfreude.
-
@JRyman You know what. I thought about that. Sure, UK is uber talented this year with all they returned and added. I am sure Larry was praising them for being so talented. But, could it also be possible that he was putting some extra pressure on Calipari and possibly taking some off of Coach Self?
-
@JayhawkRock78 There is also Christian Brothers brandy that “I also keep handy in case I encounter a snake, which I also keep handy!”
My favorite WC Fields quote.
-
@HighEliteMajor We dont see eye to eye on a lot of things man. But, Im on your frequency here. Rock Chalk!
-
@Lulufulu Yeah I think it has to do with adding the pressure to their season. When Cal’s mentor and a coaching legend says that, he adds the pressure.
-
I seem to recall Coach Roy William calling small.programs “Little Sisters of the Poor”…
-
@JayHawkFanToo And Bill Self the Topeka YMCA…Oh wait
-
I believe Pastner is unfairly judged by many by his association with Calipari, for whom he was an assistant coach, and when Calipari left he took over the Memphis program; in other words, guilty by association.
He is a young and capable coach and, to the best of my recollection, has not been accused of any shenanigans. He started his coaching career as an assistant to Lute Olson at Arizona, where he also played in their National Championship team, completed his undergraduate degree in only two and a half years, finished his Master’s degree and started to work on his Doctorate.
We need to be careful labeling people by their association with Calipari; let’s not forget that he started his coaching career at KU under Coach Owens and continued, along with one Bill Self, under Coach Larry Brown.
-
@JayHawkFanToo speaking of Memphis, I can’t get over how they let Tarik go. Tarik speaks so well of them, just seems odd.
-
@JRyman My Dad actually played for the Topeka Y in the early thirties after his college track career was over. He was a brakeman for the old Missouri Pacific RR & worked a traveling switch engine out of Topeka. Remembering him calling it the “mortgage lifter” because they always worked as many hours as was legally possible. He was only 5’10" but was a pole vaulter & could still dunk in his late 40’s. I recall him still being able to grip the grab irons on a caboose & hold his body horizontal shortly before he passed in 1959 at 50.
-
Tarik finished his degree in 3 years so he was eligible to play immediately at another school. KU provides a great environment, a great coach and staff, best trainer in the business and more importantly, exposure that only a handful of schools can match. Transferring to KU, if you can call it that since he had already graduated, was win -win situation for both sides,
-
@JayHawkFanToo I understand it’s a win-win! He seems so loyal to them.
-
@Lulufulu I wasn’t aware of any ill feelings towards Pastner, either. I was pointing out his team got drilled by a Div 2 team, which is hilarious to most that follow the sport.
