Ladies Win In Sunflower Showdown
-
Lady Jayhawks beat K-State 61-54 in Manhattan. Big road win.
-
Dam I was going to listen to that too - -missed it, Big win for the ladies. - Well 1-2 in league now , hope we can keep improving , actually think we have but still got a ways to go. - Good job ladies. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Hopefully they can build off of this, they are just a few minutes from being 13-1 instead of 11-3.
-
KSU any good?

I Know they played Iowa State which is either 23rd -Or 25th in the Nation a lot closer for sure then can’t remember who the team was - -maybe Texas tech played Iowa State - -think we lost to them by 9 - -this Team lost to them by like 26 some where right in there. - I think they will do decent in the Big 12 schedule - -I mean not looking for eye popping numbers but for sure measurably better then in the past.
-
Well they won this game, yet not really extra pretty - -BUT a win is a win right? - -especially a road win.
Lyons had 20 pts - - -Richardson had 12 pts & 10 rebs - - - Kopatich had 10 points - -we need a little more from her.
Stats not to pleasant : - -BOYH teams shot only like right at 35 % - -3pt shooting was very dismal - KU was at like – . 137 I believe - -& K-State was 0.95. - - We did win the boards pretty good , out rebounded them by 10 - -and took care of the ball better K-State had 6 more to’s then we did 19-13.
Where we actually won the game was in the 2nd quarter - -21-9. - K-State is now 10-6 - -& 1-3 in the league. - -BUT hold onto your shorts NOW BAYLOR is next up – oh boy fraid won’t be pretty. - -Good job ladies

@Crimsonorblue22 No, and the B12 outside of Baylor, Texas, and ISU, aren’t very good overall. They may get up to 5 in the tournament, but the 4th and 5th teams would be pretty low seeds. KU is better than last year, but they still aren’t very good and probably end up with 6 or less B12 wins this year.
Schneider needs to go because KU just isn’t that much better than when he took over. The only real difference is that KU can beat cupcakes now whereas they didn’t do that his first year.

@jayballer73 ISU was a blowout, KU was down 15+ most of the second half and only got it to single digits at the very end.
Texas Tech was a bad loss period. That’s the type of game the women have to win to show any meaningful progress. Beating KSU is nice because it’s a rivalry game, but this team isn’t much better than last year.

It’s ok - -guess the other team didn’t even get the chance TO cut the lead late in the game huh? - you have your opinion you want to talk continually about how they such crap - -go ahead your entitled to that. - Me I’m sticking with them - they are showing sufficent improvement. - -not trying to argue - just plain saying that’s all. - bottom line is – their better thanks for the reply though not mad myself at what you say just stating what I think now , they only had one way to go - -like the article said FIRST time we have beaten K-State since 2014 -and at their place Road game - -I’ll take that for now - -that’s improvement

@Crimsonorblue22 : KSU has an RPl of 51. Not a victory over a great team, but a good win on the road and a confidence builder. First win against them since 2014.

KSU probably finishes 8 thru 10 this year in the B12. As @Texas-Hawk-10 said the Tech loss along with the Nebraska loss are disappointing. There is no reason this team should finish 6th in this conference. The ISU loss was expected and wasn’t that bad. I watched it and we hung with them for almost 2 quarters, then couldnt hit open shots.

@jayballer73 KU Women’s basketball has only made 2 NCAA Tournament appearances combined since Marion Washington retired after the 2004 season and even her last 4 seasons were really bad.
People don’t realize just how bad Kansas women’s basketball has been this century. They have not had a winning conference record or finished in the top half of the league this century. This is a program with a long history of underachieving and Schneider has gone through a full recruiting cycle and has failed to make this team a top half of the league team. After this season, there needs to be a change because Schneider just isn’t working out. KU has a .255 winning percentage this century in B12 play. There’s no reason that this program should be this bad outside of apathy among the administration.
Just about every other elite men’s basketball team has developed a very competitive women’s program as well except for Kansas. Jeff Long needs to make some decisions about the non-revenue sports like women’s basketball and baseball who have been underachieving for a very long time without recent coaching changes.

For the record
2015-16 6 overall wins, 0 conference wins
2016-17 8 overall wins, 2 conference wins
2017-18 12 overall wins, 3 conference wins
2018-19 11 overall wins, 1conference win and countingIsn’t that going in the right direction?

@Texas-Hawk-10 Very true the team hasn’t had a winning conference record since 2000. Bonnie got lucky with sweet 16s back to back years but even in those years never finished higher than tied for 6th in the B12. I honestly thought she was a good hire when we got her, she was pretty good at Virginia Tech. This definitely a make or break year for Schneider, he needs to bare minimum finish 6th in the conference and make the NIT. That may not even be good enough to keep him around. Rich Price should’ve retired atleast 5 years ago, he’s good guy but has only finished in top half of the conference 2 times, the last being in 2014.
