Why I hate WVU

  • @Bwag He told KU fans to f off, shut the f up etc…

  • @Bwag

It is always refreshing to find truth spoken with conviction, so early in the morning.

    Rock Chalk!

  • If more referees had conviction, WVU would have players fouling out by halftime. Fact.

  • Carter is a terrific and intense defensive player but if he finished with 3 fouls you can bet he really had 12 (1 out of 4 called). He constantly slaps arms and grabs. I really held my breath when he was on Vick or Svi because he is so good at stealing the ball. The WV defense reminds me of offensive holding in football, it happens every play but they can’t call them all.

    Nice. All the more reason.

Loved DeSousa saying he often doesn’t talk on the court but was provoked to do so because of WVU’s trash talk.

  • @Bwag

I agree with what you wrote. Remember the old Big 8 days when fouls were called for everything and teams were used to that type of whistle and then, at the NCAA, the refs would allow all kinds of fouls to go uncalled and conference teams would get mauled by other teams, particularly those from the Big 10 that has always allowed rough play. I winder how games will be called this year considering the trend to penalize defenses and favor offenses.

Frankly, I don’t get WVU style of play. Yes, it works against teams with weak guards but KU did not seem particularly bothered by it and just tired its own players.

  • I’m not sorry to have played against it. I’m particularly thrilled that we swept them 3-0. (“Take that punks”). It just pisses me off.

  • I’ll say too, when my wife gets worked up because of it even more than me…you know it’s blatant.

  • @Bwag And what a group of whiners. Huggins is raising his arms, complaining about nearly everything. Just very Weber-like.

  • @HighEliteMajor Huggins just can’t pinpoint why he loses to KU. It’s the refs, it’s KU players just “making shots”. Deflect the blame to anywhere else.

@Bwag if Tait can hear what’s coming out of konuts mouth, why can’t the refs?

He has a big mouth and he pretty much manipulated the refs. He and Huggy DARED the refs to call fouls against him, let alone a technical. This is what Huggy does to bball. He manipulates the system to accommodate not only his style of play, but also his coaching style. The game in Lawrence is when he began his campaign to execute his plan. Konate was out of control and all the refs did was ‘warn’ his stupid azz. He went at Silvio and Graham. He even went at the refs, and they let him.

Sorry, this is Huggy bully ball at its finest. He almost succeeded too. But KU prevailed in real basketball. Proud of our Hawks.

I heard that shizz. This is all Baby Huey knows how to do. He uses his big mouth. I can’t wait to see his azz on the court after being decked. He’s caustic and any team that gets him is going to have a great big attitude. I’m all for being cocky, but shutting your mouth and letting your play speak is so much more classy.

The media encouraged a lot of the drama too. Fran, and his mini-me didn’t help things. I can’t believe Fran had the audacity to complain and call out the refs the way he did. Then last night he praised them for not calling fouls against WVU and Konate. Fran is a POS.

  • I’m glad for the experience. I’m triply glad we beat them at every opportunity. I’ve re-watched all three wvu-ku games, but only one or two other games all season. Highly entertaining games, good for our guys to get through it for the inbounds pressure practice.

  • BShark said:

Exactly. But they can’t because fan bases will scream. The media will call them out. And Huggy suggesting that refs sit in post-game media press conferences. He should’ve been fined or suspended for his ridiculous comment. This is unacceptable for a coach, A COACH calling out their conference refs, bad taste and poor sportsmanship. He only incited his fanbase and hurt college basketball.

Not according to Fran Pretanella. He said it was working “pretty good.” I love it when Frannie gushes over WVU an Huggins’ style of play, and then we beat them.

  • When did Konate yell at the fans? If it was after the game, no T’s could be assessed. I’m guessing if it happened during the games the refs would have issued the T.

It’s also pretty amazing to trash talk to a team that’s won about 75% of the time during Huggies time, and of course, had won twice this year.

We let our play do our talking, but I’m pretty sure that Self wouldn’t allow that to get out of hand.

  • @wissox It was during the game.

  • Slaps are hard to see, but bumps are pretty obvious. I can recall at least 4 bumps throughout the game that went uncalled. (One of them caused Malik to throw the ball away). Many times we were unaffected, which is a great sign for things to come. We’ve got poise.

Let’s hope we don’t get totally screwed like the Villanova year.

It’s not basketball for sure. As the physicality of the game continues to increase it becomes harder to ref. Huggy abd Coach K intimidate officials way too much and get way with it.

  • @Bwag Cool post. you should probly leave the politics out of it though because this is a college basketball forum. Yes, i am referring to your use of the word snowflake.

  • I would expect the Conference to do something about it, it reflects poorly not only on WVU and Huggins but the conference as well.

It would not surprise me if Fraschilla does not return as game commentator next season. Most KU fans are pretty fed up with him and some have a lot of influence with the AD and KU is the big dog in basketball in the conference.

Fran is pretty adamant on twitter that he is friends with Self. That probably goes a long way.

  • @BShark I have been reading his lips in every game we have played against them…not hard to see the F bombs spewed with anger all over the court…did not know that it was directed toward the fans, though.

  • @BShark Wow. Not a good look.

Watch the game again. He did walking down the middle of the court at about half court…I read his lips and it was clear. Albeit, after a play, but still classless all the same.

  • It looked like Huggins got on Konate in the huddle about it briefly at one point.

  • i need some brackets, man. i’m jonesing…

  • @BShark i slapped around a few hillbilly goofs on that thread. i have been supremely unproductive today- i’m too distracted by the brackets…

  • @KUSTEVE I hear that. I’ve spent the last 6 hours painting ceilings to get rid of the energy.

  • @dylans i’ve spent the last 6 hours annoying my girlfriend, and riling up wvu and tucky fan bases.

Hope you are right. All the announcers seem to promote upsets or weaknesses in my Jayhawks and it pizzzes me off.

  • @Gunman Tom Crean is high on the Jayhawks. Has them as a final four team. Seth Greensberg won’t pick the field against KU (at least in the first 2 games) he learned his lesson.

Just ignore the haters and soak in what you want. The fun is just getting started, don’t let someone else bother you. Enjoy the experience! Have a blast it’s tourney time. This is what KU has been preparing for all season long.

We are 27-7. Done without BP and the last three games minus Doke. The staff and boys have done a great job. I like Self’s comment about pressure and fun. The players need to enjoy the tourney.
