A baseball blog

  • I do a little blogging and this one, a diversion from my usual topics was me trying to get a lot off my chest

I think Americans still love Baseball, but it’s just not the same. I remember a time when players where drafted, played their way threw the minor leagues, and when they made it to the majors they stayed with their team. It’s not like that anymore. I know FA’s are apart of every sport, but the MLB doesn’t have a salary cap. Meaning if you’re a small market team and you have a player that is any good. You have to be looking to trade that player, or your going to lose them anyways. I guess what I’m saying there is an unfair playing field, and the fans know it. So why get all excited when the team your chasing has more money and resources than you, and can just make a trade for another CY Young award winner before the trade deadline?

  • I like baseball and golf equally. They both make excellent background for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon nap.

  • My wife could have written the exact same thing Nuleaf! Wait a minute, as we really don’t know the identity of each other on this site, could you be me wife? Hmmmm…

  • @wissoxfan83 No supper for you tonight dear.

  • @nuleafjhawk Absolutely what I tune in to for a nap during the weekend.

  • Baseball and golf are the two most boring sports to “watch.” What I find interesting is what is supposed to be the most exiting baseball game, two pitchers pitching no-hitters, is also the most boring game…nothing happens. Just my opinion.

Watching golf is right up there with watching grass grow.

“Hockey is a sport for white men. Basketball is a sport for black men. Golf is a sport for white men dressed like black pimps.” - Tiger Woods

Aw come on JHFT, baseball is not boring to watch! A pitchers dual is the best baseball there is hands down! And for the record, I golf and I love watching golf so now you’ve gone and insulted me twice!! Good thing we got this Jayhawk bond.

Notice I said to “watch.” I used to play softball with friends, but the keg by home plate is what made it bearable; I am not sure if we ever completed a full game since the end of the keg was usually the end of the game. I have lots of friends that love playing golf…and they also are the only one that enjoy watching it. I have tried golf and I did OK, but I never really enjoyed it; I need a lot more action in my sports. My brother and friends used to fish a lot and he would tell me that fishing is a good excuse to do nothing; likewise, golf is a good excuse to pay lot of money to take a long walk…albeit in a very nice and safe setting with a few (or many) drinks along the way.

Now, let me tell you what I really think… 🙂
