Big 12 Basketball champs as predicted by players

  • @ralster “FreddyMac” – you’re on a roll today.

By the way, watching the soccer game for some reason right now … is this legal!!!

  • @nuleafjhawk True. And no one in the big 12 has made the final four (besides KU) since Texas. And that is oooold news. Few even remember Texas’ final four run.

  • @HighEliteMajor Its only legal depending on Schweinsteiger’s “persuasion”, I suppose is the proper thing to say, nowadays. Hey, isnt schweinsteiger some sort of sausage? Or is that braunschweiger?…or maybe it is illegal: Ach! Das ist verboten!

Or maybe Schweinsteiger took a header and is daydreaming about some fraulein…

  • @HighEliteMajor I always said you had to have a name like “Zschiewannadictch” to like that friggin game…whoever woulda’ thought?

  • @globaljaybird

The US-Portugal game in the elimination round had bigger TV audience than the NBA finals and the World Series and right up there with the higher BCS Championship games TV audiences (Super Bowl is still king). Over 1 Billion people watched the World Cup final, So much for that frigging game… 🙂

  • @JayHawkFanToo My name ain’t Zack.

  • @globaljaybird

Embrace the beautiful game…the entire world has and it is growing here as well.

  • I just love how every year someone makes a real ass out of themselves by proclaiming something that hasn’t been done in 11 years.

It is a fun read to go to the comments of the above link and listen to all the big talkers. You can put all the talk in the world in a bucket and you still won’t have enough change to buy a rope to hang yourself, but it turns out you don’t need a rope to get the job done!

Someday we will lose the B12 regular season. I hope it is long after I’m dead and the roses on my grave have spread pasture to the neighboring section of land.

The B12 has decent competition and a few good coaches. My hats off to all of them for bringing their best game to AFH. The Mayor is at the top of my list, just under Bill. So keep talking OU, ISU and Texas. Keep talking and dreaming. And while you are at it, you better do some praying… praying that your silly comments fall on deaf ears in Larryville, because the last thing you should ever do is wake a sleeping Jayhawk. F&%k the sleeping bear!

  • Quote from Perry Ellis:

##“I haven’t really thought about individual goals. I’m just focused on winning another Big 12 championship,” he said. “Just keep working toward that, keep on thinking game by game, winning.”

Love that he will get the younger guys to understand the importance of the “game by game, winning” mantra.

  • I think this kind of thing works to our advantage. When the other Big 12 teams get it in their heads and spend so much time worrying about KU that they lose sight of what works best for their them, it’s just one more distraction that keeps them from derailing us.

I think Bill Self does as good a job as anyone of forgetting about the other teams and concentrating on what we do best - UNTIL the NCAA tournament.

In my opinion, during March he worries too much about the other teams and not enough about his own.

  • @ralster My old Dad used to call that stuff goose liver-sounds better than pork or hog liver I guess.

  • @globaljaybird different pic?

  • @Crimsonorblue22-Yes, you noticed. Woodrow passed 2 weeks ago yesterday & I changed the avatar earlier this week. I think we’ve shed tears about 12 out of 14 days since. Our vet came to the house, as we decided to keep him at home. Have always thought it was sort of an easy way out to leave your pet with the vet, but not all have the option to keep them at home. Either way, we loved him & owed this to him after all the years & happiness he gave us. Sometimes I feel like Mr Bogangles on a rainy day.Thank you for remembering, you are so kind.

  • @globaljaybird I know exactly what you are going thru! We lost our golden 2 years ago, he thought he was a human, we did too! Gave us all good stuff! So sorry!

  • @globaljaybird A good dog really is hard to beat. Sorry to hear it. Does the name Woodrow come from Captain Woodrow F Call of Lonesome Dove?

  • @globaljaybird

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I’ve had to take dogs to the vet for that final time and it was horrible because most dogs don’t want to visit a vet clinic in the first place, and especially towards the end.

That was a thoughtful move on your part.

As hard as it is to experience, it is best to stay with them during the process… but it is tough to experience. I still recall it all vividly, and wish I couldn’t, but I’m glad I could be there for my best friend right up until her last breath.

  • @JayhawkRock78-This is a copy/paste from our old site since the we’re making the transition. Wanted to make sure those of you who have asked are able to read this reply. Again, thanks for your kindness.

Sorry it has been so long to reply, and thank you all for your thoughts & prayers.

The pedigreed name “Dad’s Handsome Woodrow” is actually a tribute to a dear childhood friend & man who later became my brother-in-law when we married sisters following HS graduation. He passed in 2003 from cancer & his final request for a lunch/dinner with his closest relatives at his side at Freeman West Hospital, was a simple pizza from “Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza” in Joplin, Mo. We were attending his Granddaughter’s graduation the day the tornado devastated their city. Mike’s wife, daughter, & niece are all nurses there.

I recall that he jokingly asked me “How will I get steak & lobster in here” as they prepped him for his feeding port. I recall shaving him the morning that he passed. Mike was gone in only four weeks after his initial diagnosis. His children who are now married with their own children try to stay as close to my wife & I as we were when we were both kids. Mike & I went to kindergarten together, graduated HS together, went on senior sneak together at Rockaway Beach, our parents both worked for the same employers until death & retirement, we had a dirt track racecar together, we married sisters, & I just spent the last 4 days at Table Rock Lake where we had our final family reunion together in 2002.

And Woodrow was every bit as neat a personality as Mike. He had that especially high bite/play drive that trainers adorn for service, military, & law enforcement dogs. Woody was pick of the litter & we whelped the litter ourselves. Our breeder lives just North of Lawrence at Perry Lake & she is a nurse there also.

I mowed Woody’s grave & watered his flowers tonight & then I just kind of wandered around the pasture & orchard after doing so. We miss him tremendously. Woodrow came to us at a very important moment in time & helped complete a very special chapter in our families’ lives. One of his litter mates went to Mike’s daughter & her family. They now have 2 more young extremely rambunctious & lovable Boxers.

Thank all you ever so much for being so kind to ask. A couple of weeks ago there was just no way possible I could have begun to write this epitaph. He was an undeniable & sincere Champion for certain…every bit like the ones all our board rats here know & love. Again, I thank you all for asking.

  • @drgnslayr Every person whoever left our home with a puppy for a new home was given a copy of this before I gave them their registration documents. I assured them they could always unconditionally return them for any reason.

TEN COMMANDMENTS OF A RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER

    1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any seperation from you will be very painful.

    2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

    3. Place your trust in me- it is crucial for my well-being.

    4. Don’t be angry with me for long, and don’t lock me up for my punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment. I have only you!

    5. Talk to me. Even if I don’t understand your words, I understand your voice when it’s speaking to me.

    6. Be aware that however you treat me, I’ll NEVER forget it.

    7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.

    8. Before you scold be for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, I’ve been out in the sun too long, or my heart may be getting old and weak.

    9. Take care of me when I get old. You, too, will grow old.

    10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, “I can’t bear to watch it” or, “Let it happen on my absence.” Everything is easier for ME if you are there. Remember, I love you.

  • @globaljaybird ah tore me up! I haven’t got a new dog since I lost our golden-2years ago. Not sure I can do it! Somebody once told me you could tell if a person was good if they loved dogs and kids. I find it to be very true!

    I doubt it.jpg

That’s my girl. She’s an old girl now. Man I don’t even want to think of that day. 😞

  • @DoubleDD looks like my theory that dog-lovers are good people is true! Chocolate lab?

    @Crimsonorblue22

Weimaraner They are a German dog. She cost me a bundle, but is worth every dime. The best hunting/family dog I’ve ever had.

My kids used to love this song. I never knew what a Weimaraner looked like though I heard this lyric a bunch of times…

  • @DoubleDD my sister had a weimer, he flunked doggie school. He ran across the tile floor, slid on a rug, jumped on the bed and went thru the window. Didn’t hurt him. He was a lover, for sure!
