Now we know why Self doesn't want to play WSU

  • Other than that Marshall would be almost 60 by then. I doubt we would give a look to anyone that old honestly.

  • People forget ASU now has 2 double digit top 15 wins, they are a top 10 team right now. Period. End of story.

  • wissox said:

We’d have a two game losing streak against them.

What makes you think that? Wsu 98-south Dakota state 85. KU 98, sds 64.

  • If we still had Frank we would be singing a different tune right now. I guarantee it. NO player, guard or big at KU in the Self era has been tougher than Frank. Not one.

That said, I agree with your sentiments in a way. I think we need to temper our expectations for this team. I still believe they can win the Big 12 with time and some Self coaching up. But, that’s about as far as I am willing to go at this point.

  • @Blown I’d be shocked if anyone from KU would call him, no matter how good of coach he is. Besides him calling KU names, his wife has no class and gets drunk in the stands and calls the players bad names. I’ve said before on here, a friend of our family that coaches(d1) said he is not highly thought of in coaching circles. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

  • @Blown you said, “there are some serious insecurities in this forum with regard to WSU” – ya think?? Lots.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Just being snarky!

  • @wissox You’re having a tough year in basketball. Wisky looks pretty rough as well.

  • @KUSTEVE Yeah, woe is me!! I’ve been blessed to be a fan of two teams that have both made the last 15 tournaments, one which has made the last 30 or whatever except for the ban after winning it all. I’ve had it tough!

  • @wissox I think we would’ve beat WSU last year. If the series never stopped in 94 we prob win all but 1 or 2 from 95-2012. From 13 to present is prob split. No team best us year in and out. We have a winning record vs all current and former B12 schools.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 I’ve been as big a KU fan as anyone here, or anyone that anyone here knows - for over 50 years.

If Marshall, by some freak force of nature, ever became our coach - I would never watch another KU basketball game again.

    Ever.

  • @nuleafjhawk Ouch! We should pass this on to the AD!

  • WSU hit the “Perfect Storm” of recruiting a few year ago with several unheralded players that turned out great and set the table for the next few years and the crest of the storm is probably this year’s team with 4 senior and one great sophomore in Shamet; got to give credit to the staff for spotting the potential.

At the end of the season WSU loses 6 seniors including 4 starters and 6 of the 9 top players in the rotation and Shamet might also leave for the NBA. The incoming class has 1 - 4 star player, 3 - 3 star players and 2 other lesser ranked players and nowhere near good enough to replace what they have right now. This is the year WSU must do something because it will be a big drop next season. Next season KU beats WSU by at least 30.

Ya I have no use for Marshal either, as been stated here and multiple time - in multiple sites- -he is not very highly reguarded in the Coaching ranks at all. - -His wife? - -what a complete disaster he ought to be REAL proud of her actions at games lol - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 remember the lil tangent he went on in Canada? 2 peas in a pod

  • @BShark

Devonte can drive the ball. And we have seen him do this with great success.

But he is doing pretty much like what he did last year. He’d have a few big games and then vanish!

This is easily the biggest problem we need to address on this team. Forget adding post players. If we don’t have a PG leader coming out and being consistently aggressive, we will not reach our potential or even come close. Lots of heartache ahead.

I’ve always had up/down emotions about Devonte. He shows us all so much potential, and then he disappears for half a dozen games or so.

We actually have very little experience on this team. It needs leadership. CONSISTENT leadership. I can almost guarantee we will lose every game where Devonte doesn’t bring his best efforts.

What I see… Devonte is GREAT when things are going well! He glows with confidence and he has plenty of aggressiveness.

But when things aren’t going well, Devonte sort of seems to fade away into mediocrity.

I think that has to be addressed through the coaches. We can’t have Devonte “go invisible” through many games.

Devonte is going to have to learn a different response to the “hard times.” Instead of going soft and becoming invisible, he needs to learn to bear down, put out more energy, show optimism, pump up the troops, try other things to flip the mojo over to crimson/blue.

  • @jayballer54

Just curious. Can you please tell me where you saw that Marshall is not well regarded? Every list of top coaches I have seen in the last couple of years has Marshall in the top 10ish and he is also one of the top 10 paid coaches in college basketball.

I get that some posters don’t like or respect Marshall and we are all entitled to our opinions, but there is little doubt that Marshall is one of the better active coaches and paid accordingly. I don’t particularly like him or the WSU program but I have to admit that he is a heck of a coach and has done very well at WSU which is currently ranked #3; hard to find fault with that.

Boy do I - is this someone we would want at the University of Kansas? - -Sure the hell not me - -him and his ol lady make quite the team. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @JayHawkFanToo IF you look I don’t believe you will read where anybody said he wasn’t a good Coach - -What is being said that he is not like by his peers - & fans alike - -We can pass on the drama he brinds with him and the little missy. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 you wrote “he is not very highly reguarded in the Coaching ranks at all”

I think that’s where @JayHawkFanToo got it that you didn’t think he was a good coach. My eyebrows were raised too when you wrote that. Maybe you meant he’s not very highly regarded as a person, which we all would agree, but he can flat out coach.

  • @jayballer54

    What @wissox said above…

ya my mistake - -that’s what I did mean. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Pretty bad when Scott Drew looks down upon your actions…

  • Marsha is a real good coach, and a piss ant at the same time. His wife is a lush with a big mouth.

  • @dylans What do you mean? Did something happen in the Baylor game???

  • Never thought this day would come - now even I don’t want to play WSU. 😞

  • @dylans Yes, please do tell.

  • @dylans

    I am also curious…

  • I’m sorry, all in jest. Nothing to report, just my evaluation of his character.

I guess to paraphrase our most “famous” member.

All fiction A bit of malice.

  • Banned

If you really care about the WSU program? You don’t want KU playing them every year. Sure the’ll put up a good fight for a few years. Yet KU dominance would set in, and WSU would start getting beat like a drum. There by destroying any success they have in recruiting and on the national scene.

Didn’t you mean our most ‘infamous’ member? All fiction, all malice!

  • @wissox nah, I give that nod to the chicken man who’s name shall not be spoken.
