I know but yet guys

  • Hey, hope everyone is well, as we continue to slug thru this awful dead time of summer guys. Hope at least you all doing well got to have our gang stay strong and healthy. I’m doin pretty well, the wife not so much, came close to losing her and she is only 49, ya I like them younger or they like older hell I dunno but I’m hoping she is on the way back now.

My thread is about Mitch, I’m sorry I have posted/ made comments before, but guys I really think when it’s all said and done, this kid will surprise. - Was reading a story today about him and Udoka taking a leadership role this season for Whitman and Preston early. They gave a perfect example, talking about how Jack missed an in-contested jump hook in an early drill - - -lunged at the ball kind of slammed it disgusted with himself and headed back to the end of the line. - - -Mitch didn’t accept that took over and told Whitman to FINISH THE DRILL/PLAY. - - Whitman finished with a layup was stated but he still FINISHED.

The thing is my friends THAT’S what I’m talkin about, this kid seems to have a aggressive approach, everything about him, the kid just flat out goes out to help/do whatever needed. - -This was a minor thing but yet Mitch took over, took that leadership responsibility, they talk about Whitman and Preston looking at Mitch and Azubuike for leadership early on,

Everything I have seen and read about Mitch maybe I’m just total delusional but man this kid, the time he DID have on the floor last year, he was giving 110% hustled out his butt, had some key plays, blocked some shots, like another poster stated on different site said for him being 6’8 which actually is kind of short for a PF Mitch had his fair share of blocked shots. - -Diving on the floor, rebounding, again as we all know he was a liability on defense some due to his lack of bulk BUT I feel this kid has the desire - - -the aggressiveness, - - -and leadership - -and heart to really help, he doesn’t lack in confidence I feel given some time this kid is going to be a good 4 year player for us - -these are the kids we need to help fill the roster, I’m not saying we need 13 of these types but I’m tellin ya - you don’t ever have to question about the kids heart and love about being a KU Jayhawk.

One finishing side bar, Coach Self made mention that Billy Preston is probably as good as anybody we have had at the 4 spot physically since Coach has been here, that says something right there. - - -Stay safe my friends - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Sorry to hear about your wife, hopefully she is doing better now.

Here is the link to the full article you mentioned in your post.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Thanks that’s appreciated, not sure we are at that proverbial border you know - -just kind of swaying - -if she doesn’t get better very soon gonna have to go back, she has a apt coming up with the lung doctor very soon, still thanks always appreciated. – -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

I am looking for Svi, Udoka, and Graham to lead the way.

  • @jayballer54 happy fourth man. I’m sorry to hear about your wife. Will be thinking about her and hope she pulls through.

I appreciate your focus and positively about Mitch. He passed the eye test for me last year as a guy that just needed to put on some off season muscle. Then I think @Kcmatt7 said people were talking about how he was looking pretty rough in practice and I scaled back expectations a bit. Your positivity is reminding me that on the big stage he competed and there’s something to be said for that. I will be pulling for him and hope he’s been hitting the hell out of the weight room. What’s the word on that?

  • @KansasComet thank you greatly appreciated. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @approxinfinity From what I heard, there was an article sometime back that he was focusing on the weights and such - -had added some weight not an extreme I think maybe like 10 lbs. I think not don’t hold me to this but I believe he said he wanted to be at like 227 lbs which would be and addition of like 15 lbs - - -again don’t hold me to that but seems like that was the case.

I’ll just say this - -the kid is a competitor, aggressive and I will say it again yes he gets beat on the D sometimes - - a lot of times, BUT some of that was just plain because he couldn’t hold ground, some was flat being out of position, but that will change in time. I think the kid can really help us - I know he will ALWAYS give it his all, he is always open to improvement - -he wants to get.be better for THE TEAM - -kid loves KU. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Thoughts and prayers to your wife. Hope there is good news in the future for both of you. Stay positive and rock on.

  • @jayballer54 Prayers for the all important “better half”.

  • Prayers go out to your wife. I agree we have a pitbull in the making with Lighfoot. I get the feeling we’ll be much stronger down low than in the past, which will help our tournament chances immensely. I think we’ll have the most balanced team since 2012.

  • @KUSTEVE Just got email from my son. Mitchell’s bro Miles has committed to West Point & posted that on his twitter feed. Tremendous honor to get a scholarship at a military academy. Exceptional family IMO. Matt ran track at Baker & Rhonda had a volleyball offer at KU but went to RockHurst instead. Here’s a link to a story when Mitchell first signed. By the time he finishes his career at Kansas I hope we’re all as proud as his parents are of their sons.
