Dear Bill
-
@BShark groveling well!
-
Well , Well , Well, lookie, lookie, here. – Can a person be any more proud of a group of guys? I’m just about 20 ft up in the air. What Can I/ we say about Landen , all we hear about was NAM , BAM, BAM, and he IS a very good player. - -But Landen for sure held his own, Well Done young man. - - The Ya think Frank enhanced his chances for POY? - - And Josh what can you say - -He let America know that he was just as good if NOT BETTER then Monk – Fox. - - Monk Did nothing really in the 2nd half - -Fox nothing much, so was it our guards Mason - -& Graham putting the clamp on them? – I think maybe. - -All I can say is – HELL YA - -and of course - - -JUMPIN GEE HOSSA FATS lmao
Oh in case you didn’t hear? - -I was listening to the broad cast for a lot of the game with our announcers and this stat came out - - Since Calipari has Coached at Kentucky when Kentucky has been up by 10 or more - - Kentucky had a winning percentage of 98.6 - -they said Calipari was like 204-3 when they led like that. – well GUESS WHAT? - -now you 204 -4 lmao. - - Think I might troll over to the Kentucky board and see what they having to say now. lmao - -anyone got some extra tissue lol - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
I wasn’t surprised we won- I expected it.
-
You are seeing the last piece of “traditional Bill” being shredded away. He has held on to his M2M defense even harder than his hi/lo.
One time I asked him to his face why he won’t use a zone more and I thought he was going to punch me in the face. His answer… “if we can’t move our feet in a M2M, why do you think we would move our feet in a zone?” I didn’t have an answer for him on the spot, plus didn’t really want to challenge one of the best coaches in D1.
-
I feel certain we are going to see more zone moving forward this year. We just don’t have the depth to go M2M all the time. I’m glad.
Teams prepare for us going M2M. Now they have to worry about a zone, too.
We played pretty good zone, but I wouldn’t say great. Didn’t matter. Kentucky only prepared for our M2M. Throw in a few plays of triangle and two, just to confuse them and we did a great job of rattling a bunch of freshmen!
-
Dear Bill,
I’m sorry. I was wrong. I’ll never do it again.
-
@drgnslayr playing zone is nothing to be ashamed of. We have been talking about Nova last year - they utilized the zone brilliantly to beat us and the formidable front line of North Carolina. I hope Bill uses both from now on. It could come in handh
-
Can anyone think of a better starting 5? KU certainly made a powerful statement today…
-
@BShark How do you like your crow? Baked, broiled or deep fried?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 You think tonite’s game will have any effect on our recruiting? Or not?
-
I hear it goes great with humble pie…
-
@brooksmd it would for me, cal couldn’t figure out the switching zones and junk D’s
-
@BShark Or if crow isn’t your cup of tea, I hear the cajuns down here can do wonders with nutria. Jes havin’ fun with ya.
-
I am happily eating my crow bird today with spicy brown mustard.
I didn’t predict a definite loss, but I did express I thought we had to be prepared for a beat down.
I’m usually happy to eat crow! It tastes like chicken, but a little dry.
-
-
Didn’t this game feel like 2008 all over again (concerning Cal and his coaching)?
He just can’t handle in-game strategy changes well, especially with a team full of freshmen. Other teams that have to prepare to play UK should remember this.
Kentucky’s big weakness? Making adjustments!
-
Joel Embiid (@JoelEmbiid) 1/28/17, 7:27 PM Great win!!! RockChalk Jayhawk #kubball
-
I think Kentucky just kissed their chances of a #1 seeding goodbye! I am happy we provided the knockout punch!
-
@drgnslayr yep, and a win wednesday would put us in the drivers seat for #13 and a one seed in kc
-
That is basically true… but this year we really can’t look ahead on anything. Without the depth, we could go on a skid at just about anytime.
For example… we get somebody hurt now. How devastating would that be?
Hey… thumbs up for Coleby! He really came through today.
-
@KUSTEVE Right on, but have to say you are one really smart potato I wish I would of been as confident - -and then when we went down 12 - - I thought – JUMPIN - -GEE - - HOSSA – FATS - -here we go, guys pulled the toughness act gotta love it - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@drgnslayr youre right - I better not get the cart before the horse.
-
@brooksmd Well not sure about BShark- -but could you deep fry mine please and could you try and remove some of the greasy taste and maybe try and tenderize it a little - I fully deserve it all lol. - -awesome win - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Cal was on his postgame and saying that they just couldn’t keep us in front of them - lol - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Eating crow isn’t that bad. It usually gets served with a healthy spoon full of humility, too.
We can all use that sometimes.
For some reason I seem to know quite a bit about eating crow!!!
-
@drgnslayr WELL I’ve got a healthy seving to eat so ya if I could call a small dose of humility on the side - -would be greatly appreciated -can you warm the humility up just a tad? - -heard doesn’t taste to good when cold lol - - that’s what The Kentucky fans of the " BIG BLUE NATION" told me lol- - - -
-
Right. It needs to be served warm or hot. Kind of like gopher gravy. Jethro ( @KUSTEVE ) knows a lot about gopher gravy.
-
@BShark after tonight you need to call him coach sir!
-
BTW: Those Kentucky fans eat nasty gravy every single day but don’t realize they are supposed to learn a lesson from it. Kind of like Alabama football fans.
-
-
@KUSTEVE said:
I wasn’t surprised we won- I expected it.
Not sure if this is rational at all but it’s pretty cool that you can be blindly optimistic about KU bball and generally be correct.
-
-
@BShark Right!?
Im also guilty in said doubting.
-
@brooksmd gimme deep fried! I might live in the North East but I still love me some fried food! PS. theres a crap load of crows here in Vermont.
-
Four observations by NBC Sports.
-
-
-
-
@wrwlumpy Self is a freekin genius and our boys are so much tougher than I thought they were. BUT they have to keep on keepin on! They have to maintain that level of toughness ALL SEASON
-
If eating crow isn’t enough… you can always try Jake’s approach -
-
@BShark we had, by far, the best coach
-
@Lulufulu Like I mentioned, they say the cajuns have some great recipes for nutria. They say it’s not as dry as crow.
-
@brooksmd OMG!
-
@BShark Seriously, did you think two freshmen guards were going to dominate our guards? I would argue the blindness you speak of was the hype surrounding Ky that so many of our fan base ate up with a spoon. The Media has done such an excellent job of building up Ky that everyone is acting like this was an upset. Matt Norlander at CBS SPORTS called it an “upset”…lol. The 2nd ranked team in the country beating the 4th ranked team is an “upset”.
-
I’ve seen any big with a pulse do quite well against us. Finally bit us against WVU, because they got whatever they wanted at the rim. Self pulled out the big guns for this game though, with junk defenses. Should have done it more against WVU too, but Huggins is a much better coach than Cal tbf.
-
I agree, KU gets little respect from the media. Vegas opened at 5-1/2 and was up to 7 for UK and considering all the bad publicity and the shortness of our bench due to Bragg’s suspension, it was perhaps warranted.
Now here is the kicker…Pomeroy has UK ranked #3 and KU #7 after last night’s game. Considering that UK, prior to the game had lost to #39 Tennessee and is now 17-4 while KU had lost to #5 West Virginia and is now 19-2, both according to Pomeroy himself, and then UK lost to KU…at home…it does not make any sense for UK to be ranked ahead of KU, particularly when you consider that KU plays in the highest ranked conference.
After the West Virginia game many of us saw it as a minor and anticipated set back which to me shows respect for the players and coaches and trust on the team but others did not see it the same way. When KU gets trashed by its own fans how can we expect people that are not as familiar with the program to show respect? Any sports writer reading our own forum prior to the Kentucky game would have seen comments like… this teams is soft, has no heart, cannot play defense, will lose in the first round, would be lucky to get a 3 or 4 seed and so on.
It would appear that for some fans their preferred form of exercise is jumping on and off the band wagon. I know there is a lot of crow eating today but it should not get to this point and it shoul not be this way. Just my personal opinion.
-
I only worry about a loss when KU is playing a as well as they can and the other team is still close on the scoreboard. You know eventually KU will begin to play to their average. So if KU comes out slow and stay in the game I expect a win, but when KU is hot and the other team is still in it I expect a hard fought game that the outcome is in doubt.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Kenpom only measures efficiency. In that two game stretch against the Frogs and the Grapes, he moved us from 10th in defensive efficiency to the 30s, which moved us way down on his list.
-
Yep. KU has been a little unlucky this year in terms of opp shooting %. Guarded %s have been higher than unguarded. Basketball is funny sometimes.
-
@BShark Yes…I was worried about their front line doing all the damage…as has happened a lot this year.
