How a locker room speech should be.

Jimmy Chitwood and the team from Hickory. The speech from Coach Norman Dale, AKA Bobby Knight. (NSFW)

My favorite lol

Ahh…the uniforms…#35 looks like he is wearing Speedos. LOL.
-
@JayHawkFanToo looks like a miniskirt with his panties showing
-
Looks like our 2 most recent NCAA titles (1988 and 2008 ) are more recent than the last one IU has ( 2007).
-
Who gets this guy?
-
Probably Svi or Jackson. I can see Coach Self putting Davonte or Vick on him to pester him and draw fouls. Remember that Davonte outplayed Buddy Hield who is probably better than OG Anunoby.

@JayHawkFanToo 6’8"

One of my most satisfying Jayhawk wins. Interestingly, Indiana star Calbert Cheaney would become a Jayhawk which I’m sure most of you know.

2nd official national championship game which we got beat pretty badly. I don’t remember the game, you’ll have to ask @brooksmd or one of the other old guys. I did notice we had Ralph Miller, the future legendary coach and Dick Harp, one of only 5 players to have coached in and played in a national championship game.
The very next year, 1941 Wisconsin won the title. Amazing. I read a description of that game how a tough defense and deliberate offense was Wisconsin’s calling card that entire season. I guess Dick Bennett and Bo Ryan didn’t introduce that to Madison after all!
-
@wissoxfan83 That box score brings back many memories from that year. Mostly when Adonis Jordan was arriving as the bus was leaving for Stillwater and Roy told the bus driver to keep on going without him. We lost the game that night but a lesson was learned by all involved.

We played Indiana in the 1953 title game as well, getting bested again. Dean Smith is to blame, he was scoreless except for a 1 FT. He was 1-1 on FT’s. Not sure how you go 1-1 on FT’s in a game because he didn’t score any baskets.
Indiana’s star in that game Don Schlundt was eligible to play because of the Korean War. So he was a rare 4 year player in those days.

Forgot about this one, but it remains one of my favorite games as well. An absolute clinic put on by the 4th seeded Jayhawks against 1 seeded Indiana.

@wissoxfan83
Calvert Cheaney a Jayhawks? What am I missing here?
-
@wissoxfan83 Just how old do you think I am? That’s even before that old fart @globaljaybird 's time. Probably more inline with @jaybate-1.0 .
-
@brooksmd one of the old guys?
-
W.O. Hamilton and I used go out and pound a few after W’s.
-
@brooksmd Was just playing Mr. Brooks!
-
@JayHawkFanToo Oh shoot, who am I thinking of that came to KU after Indiana? Man, I’m usually pretty good with these names.

I think you are thinking of Rick Calloway in 1988-90.
-
@bskeet Winner! Thanks, I was in the right era, just wrong player. Calbert Cheaney was really good, would have fit in nicely at KU. Calloway, don’t remember too much, obviously!
-
@wissoxfan83
Calvert Cheaney was better than very good, he was a 3 time All-American, consensus first team and player of the year in his senior year and one of the best players ever at Indiana. Picked #6 overall, he never achieved the success in the NBA that he had in college.
-
I really hope we win this game not only for our boys to start the season off right but for personal reasons as well. I drunkely made a dumb bet while tailgating at a Chiefs game with a coworker who just moved here from Indiana. He wants to watch the game together in Lawrence and we bet that whoever’s team lost that person had to go streaking.
-
@HawkInMizery Do you have any hot female co-workers that would take up that bet? If so you’re doing something wrong… Lol
-
@JayHawkFanToo I said he was really good but you can’t leave well enough alone and have to tell me he’s better than ‘very’ good.
-
@wissoxfan83
What is your problem?
First you indicate that he became a Jayhawk which we know was not correct, Then, when I mentioned that he was a 3 year All-American, unanimous on his last year and player of the year in all of college basketball, which are all facts, you get upset because I express my opinion? Can you name one recent player that was 3 times All-American and also POY? He was not just a very good player, he was a superior player anyway you look at it. I thought this forum was about spreading relevant basketball information and expanding the knowledge base and not confining it to one poster’s opinion…
-
@JayHawkFanToo You feel the need to correct everyone. Sure I screwed up thinking he came to KU. I thanked you for that. But saying “he was a really good player” caused you to correct me. Saying he was really good is no different than saying he was a 3 time all american, NPOY, etc. I didn’t spread misinformation, I didn’t shrink the knowledge base. I didn’t confine the discussion to my opinion. I said he was really good! And you had a problem with that.

@wissoxfan83
Whatever.

I have never seen an aerial view of Diamond Head.

I’m 68 years old and did not know that Diamond Head was actually a volcano.
