GREATEST GAME SEVEN. PERIOD!
-
Way to go Cubbies!
Ernie is telling god: let’s play three, big guy!!!
-
@jaybate-1.0 Too bad Ernie and Ron weren’t still here to enjoy it.
-
So many old Cubs from my youth come to mind!
Billy Williams, Glenn Beckert, Don Kessinger, Ferguson Jenkins.
Plus my father’s eras players: Jimmy Foxx, Ralph Kiner, Robin Roberts…
It goes on and on.
-
Don’t get me wrong. I’m Royals through and through. But I always loved the Cubs.
-
I fell asleep, and missed the end of the game. Very pleased with the Cubbies. Somewhere out there, Harry Carey is having a cold one, singing, “Take me out to the ballgame”.
-
@jaybate-1.0 It was a great game 7 but it may be a tie with game 7 between the Twins and the Braves. 5 of the 7 games were 1 run games, 4 won in the final at bat. Game 7 was a scoreless pitchers duel that went extra innings before the Twins won it. A classic, of course it didn’t have the drama of long WS droughts ending or anything, but it was a great game 7 filled with tension.

How about The Epsorcist getting rid of two teams’ curses? Greatest GM ever?
-
@approxinfinity I think the Red Sox felt a duty to go end all the other baseball curses so they purposely imploded under Francona so he could go to Cleveland when they were ready and Theo obviously took the harder job in the Cubbies.
-
I rarely suggest this, because I think the magic of sport lies in the moment of it, but I really recommend you find a way to watch a rebroadcast of the portion after you went to bed. It was the best baseball game I ever watched. It was a combination of both teams trying to overcome epic jinxes and continued back and forth, plus the incredible suspense created by the rain delay. I hope to god it wasn’t engineered. It rekindled my faith in the capacity for great sporting events to transcend even this election.

Zobrist is a class act, MVP much deserved.

@jaybate-1.0 Will do.

I’m happy for Chicago, and it was awesome seeing everyone in a great mood today. Wasn’t too happy last night though trying to get some sleep, and everyone in my apartment building was yelling “GO CUBS” till 4am.
