I’ve had some hardships over the past year and life can be a complicated mess but everyone has their ups and downs.
I got a big promotion a year ago but the benefits haven’t outweighed the negatives so I’m at a crossroads. It has brought me financial stability in these hard times though which I’m thankful for but I know I’m going to have to make a decision one way or the other at some point.
My son has become fully invested in baseball this year and the journey still continues. He went from Little League to All Stars to now travel ball and will pitch in his first 9U kid pitch game tomorrow so that’s very exciting. I’m a nervous wreck but can’t wait to see him perform. We have lived at the baseball field since April, and it’s been an honor to watch him grow as a person and player. I don’t think we’ll know what to do with ourselves when the travel season ends next month but basketball is next up for him and he’s excited for that. Hopefully this year I can get him into watching some KU games with me as he was curious at times last season.
With work - similarly I got a promotion about a year ago. Then immediately we were (are) and industry current administration is going after. Caused a ton of stress. Went to therapy to help me understand why I was hating work so much. It very much helped keep things in perspective. Just a thought if you haven’t tried it first before leaving.
Congrats on the baseball! Good luck to him pitching! I miss playing baseball at that age more than any other competitive sports I played.
My 6 year old came home singing this, which he picked up at school. I guess theres a clapping game that goes with it. I enjoyed the regional variations in the reddit thread.

I wonder if you guys have encountered any similar spoken word things (or other things) that varied greatly by region?
The link below provides a strong statement and expresses my feelings about the “other guys” blogs and drinking the party line “koolaid.” To be more specific Keegan’s and Tait’s following the party line … .

italicised text “I realized a while ago that Keegan’s columns didn’t offer me much useful information about how bad the team was. Same goes for Tait’s blogs. But now I’m not going to give Keegan anymore clicks. I’ll still visit the site but avoid anything written by Keegan.”
KUbuckets is THE PLACE to be !!
@Crimsonorblue22 Well I would if I could, but my complicated life has me living in Louisiana! When I visit family I try to get there once a summer. It’s one thing I really miss about Chicago. Where does your son go to school if you don’t mind saying?
@Lulufulu85 Nothing wrong with an early loss to a stacked team-unless it is UK.
Early win vs Dookies last year may have given that young of a team a false sense of security in their own abilities. I still think if we don’t loose JoJo for the dance, we at minimum make the FF.
Goin’ waaaaaaaaay out on the limb with a 36 W season because without key injuries I think we’re back to the FF once again. I am also including the 6 wins in the dance to cut down the nets once again. I’m also picking another Self-Cal final with the same results. Holy squid lips Cal, not again !!
Someone sent me a link to Robin performing on Johnny Carson’s second to last broadcast. That tells me Johnny held Robin’s special talent in very high regard.
I so wish I could agree with everyone, yet also disagree with everyone. I see the valid points on both side of the aisle. On one hand the NCAA wants to be there when a student athlete farts and savor the smell, yet on the other hand what will happen to college sports if they start paying student athletes? There are so many ifs, buts, and unanswered questions. I’m getting to be and old man and I know this once you let the cat out of the bag it’s not going back in there. What happens today or tomorrow may seem small and no big deal, but these are just stepping stones. Where does it stop? When does it stop? I’m starting to believe this power five allegiance has something to do with it. Should we be happy KU has a chair at the table? or should we mourn that maybe college sports as we know it maybe be reaching the end of it’s days?
Lebron doesn’t win championships without former Jayhawks on the team, I think we’ve proved that, so Cleveland made a big mistake.
I was pulling for Cleveland to win with Wiggins alongside Lebron, but not anymore! I wish Wiggins well.

Notice I said to “watch.” I used to play softball with friends, but the keg by home plate is what made it bearable; I am not sure if we ever completed a full game since the end of the keg was usually the end of the game. I have lots of friends that love playing golf…and they also are the only one that enjoy watching it. I have tried golf and I did OK, but I never really enjoyed it; I need a lot more action in my sports. My brother and friends used to fish a lot and he would tell me that fishing is a good excuse to do nothing; likewise, golf is a good excuse to pay lot of money to take a long walk…albeit in a very nice and safe setting with a few (or many) drinks along the way.
Now, let me tell you what I really think…
I would say hat the current setup is working fine. I usually click on “Unread” which display topics from all the sections anyway, so to me it is not a big deal.
By the way, the new format/font is a lot easier to read and also to write posts.
