I’ve had some hardships over the past year and life can be a complicated mess but everyone has their ups and downs.
I got a big promotion a year ago but the benefits haven’t outweighed the negatives so I’m at a crossroads. It has brought me financial stability in these hard times though which I’m thankful for but I know I’m going to have to make a decision one way or the other at some point.
My son has become fully invested in baseball this year and the journey still continues. He went from Little League to All Stars to now travel ball and will pitch in his first 9U kid pitch game tomorrow so that’s very exciting. I’m a nervous wreck but can’t wait to see him perform. We have lived at the baseball field since April, and it’s been an honor to watch him grow as a person and player. I don’t think we’ll know what to do with ourselves when the travel season ends next month but basketball is next up for him and he’s excited for that. Hopefully this year I can get him into watching some KU games with me as he was curious at times last season.
With work - similarly I got a promotion about a year ago. Then immediately we were (are) and industry current administration is going after. Caused a ton of stress. Went to therapy to help me understand why I was hating work so much. It very much helped keep things in perspective. Just a thought if you haven’t tried it first before leaving.
Congrats on the baseball! Good luck to him pitching! I miss playing baseball at that age more than any other competitive sports I played.
My 6 year old came home singing this, which he picked up at school. I guess theres a clapping game that goes with it. I enjoyed the regional variations in the reddit thread.

I wonder if you guys have encountered any similar spoken word things (or other things) that varied greatly by region?

Thankful that your wife is OK!! Prayers for you both to put it behind you quickly and that it won’t be a long, drawn out trial.
thank you. Ya me too but there are whispers that he might try to claim insanity - which in turn will draw this trial out

@jayballer67 Been thinking about you and your wife and sending every good vibe I have over your way. Hang in there, man.
Thank you appreciate the thoughts & Vibes buddy. I know she will be all right - -got to stay positive. The nurse that did the test DID say that a lot of these test results almost always come back negative. - - That’s a good thing , as if it does then that means the lesser of the , two evils as they then could use medication to help - -the other side is probably liver transplant and blood transfusions once a week - - - NOT GOOD.
Again appreciate ya , just a lot going on right now , my wife then just found out that my Sister looks like has gotten Alzheimers & has gotten really bad forgetting a lot. Sad to see her this way she is 74. She is going to have to take B-12 shots for 5 days in a row then once a week for 6 months and then one a month to try and slow. She has to go and get a driving test done to see how she does , Dr concerned about her driving skils now - - just a mess a ;ot on the ol plate. - - Thanks again
I echo the sentiments of everyone else on this board. Sometimes the words “thoughts and prayers” seem inadequate, but I’ll pass them along anyway. Hope for the best for both of y
Always appreciated never inadequate to me - -means a lot to know people are thinking of you at times like these - -thanks again
@broadmind hello and welcome to KU Buckets! How’s life on the other side?
This is an excellent question. This article provides some answers:
https://www.statnews.com/2020/07/20/study-provides-first-glimpse-of-efficacy-of-oxford-astrazeneca-covid-19-vaccine/
Basically, the vaccine developed by Oxford with AstraZennica is in phase 3 trials (being tested on 15k people) and the Cansino vaccine developed in China is about to start phase 3 (ie large group) testing.
We will have the results in October or November. Assuming success, from there I don’t know the turnaround to widespread availability in various parts of the globe.
Just got through reading an article with Michael Osterholm , the Director of the Center for Infectious Disease.
He Stated that they feel that in September when High School level and in the College & Universities that we are going to see an Explosion of Cases that will far surpass what we saw after Memorial day.
He States that for us to really control the Virus that we need a more strict 2nd lockdown for 6 weeks to where we have the virus contained to like ONE case per thousand individuals.
Case have risen up to 40 % in young children , they said not sure how much to put into that because of possibly more testing and that young for sure are carriers but more possibly A symatic - -I know - -I know thats not the way to spell tht so sorry but anyways
@mayjay not at all. If breaking down the facts and offering a logical conclusion that differs from the consensus is considered insane these days, then we’re doomed!
Got to say I’m jacked about this upcoming Volleyball Season , now just got to hopes it happens. Love to see how these ladies develop, Pretty young 7 Freshmen and a RS Freshman - - 2 Sophomores & only 1 Senior - -Sarah Nelson a Setter.
Really loaded class ranked in the top 10 Nationally. Headed by Big 12 Freshman of the year ,Caroline Crawford , ranked # 22 in the Nation by prep volley ball. right here from Lansing KS.
A starter on team USA World Championships in Eygt that won Gold. Awesome. Followed that up by earning AVCA 1st team Under Armour All American and Kansas 5 A player of the year – not to shabby I have to say.
Ya kinda excited about the Ladies now if this dam COVID -19 just doesn’t screw this up like it did for our men’s Basketball team. - - -ROCK CHAL ALL DAY LONG BABY
