  It may be just one win. Yes, KU could lose Daniels and tank the rest of the season. But, when I look at the usually difficult to stomach top 130 by CBS Sports, KU moved up 42 positions to #56. Imagine that, Number 56 in the country. A competitive football team. KU has hovered above the 100 rank for years. Thank you Coach Leipold and staff. Thank you.

  Success in the WV game will depend on the defense. It’s clear that the defense will be improved from last year. Today, I don’t want to see our defensive backs be the leading tacklers in the game. Success today depends on the D-line and linebackers. I’m not worried about the offense at all; KU has turned the corner on offense. KU 34 WV 28. RC

  Another thing I noticed , for the 1st game of the year e really played clean. - -For the first three qtrs I’m not sure if we had ANY penalties, if any - not many. - OL was focus , on defense 5 sacks - -I think at one point we had 11 TFL’S - -think we may of ended up with more - -dam I’m not sure if we had that many TFL’S the entire season last year. - True not a P-5 but havin said that , just looks like a more athletic , aggressive , quicker team. - - Houston didn’t look that impressive , hope we can give them a game. – WV - -Texas Tech Even Iowa St might be interesting

  Ugh. We all love our former Jayhawks, but over the years Talib has sure made it tough. I was actually shocked he was hired on as a broadcaster. Won’t be long until he’s let go, I imagine. Sounds like was the instigator from what I’ve been reading. Pee wee football. Just stupid.

  Anything new on replacing Houston on our schedule? KU was mostly competitive at the end of last season after beating Texas, KU finished by losing to TCU 31-28 and WV 34/28. KU desperately needs wins over anybody to start appealing to more recruits. I can’t imagine how you go into a recruit’s home and talk around last year’s 2-10 record. There is nothing to be gained by playing top 25 Houston at Houston this year. I’m impressed with Coach Leipold, but whomever negotiates our schedule needs to look at our record and give the coach a break.

  I watched most of the Maulers game last weekend; It was great to see Torneden #11 and Moragne #97 in for most of the game. Most people I’ve talked to aren’t impressed or interested in the USFL games. I think the lack of fans for all games except the Birmingham games depresses interest in the games. But, for me its football and I watch parts of one or two games a week. Still better than MLB. Maulers play Sunday at 1:30 Central USA Network against the Michigan Panthers. The Maulers offense is lousy but I’ll watch our KU guys and hope they find an NFL team is a couple of months.

  KU hasn’t finalized any details of it yet, all is speculation at this point. I know for sure is that it’s a top priority for Girod and Goff, and likely to be announced next fall sometime along with a comprehensive capital campaign through the Endowment.
