The biggest key to successfully finishing in the paint is to slow down at the end so you can assess the defense and adjust to a successful finish. This requires being in control. Malik is not in control on his finishes right now. He’s making the mistake made by TT and Sherron when they were young. Trying to finish at full speed.

P.S.: The big question is not the eye test. It’s the “Shoe Lean” test. Does he want to play for scale at KU, or rack up a $100k somewhere else?

I for one really hopes that Coach doesn’t shrink the lineup this year. I believe it is a crazy strength of this team to put multiple players in the game at anytime. Why not. All these kids play hard. Why not give them some minutes and give key players a chance to catch their breath. Besides if our bench players can hang while the studs are resting? Why not. With Diallo coming into the mix KU has more big men than any program in the country. I say lets play them all. KU is deep at every position. I say lets play them all. Why not just overwhelm teams with out talent and depth?

Oh ye of little faith. Our MVP will probably change game to game, although Perry and Frank will rack up the lion’s share. The MVP of our team will be our depth, as two of our rookies are getting invaluable practice minutes, and will get to play in a slew of games that other recruits across the country won’t. So, Bragg and Vick start out the regular season with 1/3 of a season under their belts. Not the same intensity, of course, but more time learning the system is a good thing. Throw in a very deep, experienced team, along with the best big man recruit in the country, and you have a recipe for a title. somebody will take the 3 job, and run with it, and do a great job. Same with the 5. Our depth this year will be light years ahead of last year, and I flat guarantee Jamari will not average 20 minutes a game this year. I think my rose colored glasses are looking at a bouquet of roses.

@RockkChalkk Great point. This trend towards the safe home school where you’ll get all the minutes and dominate compared to your peers and [in some case] weak conference opponents seems to be the natural extension of the down classification / up classification gimmick that all the top recruits are now doing in high school. Same net effect. Shine and get all the minutes, mask your weaknesses against mostly bad opponents. Enhance your stock. Same as going overseas and playing against weak competition. Seems to be working for Emmanual Mudiay in China. So why not do the same thing if you can do it in your backyard instead of on the other side of the planet? And 2x in the year, if you can hold your own athletically for 40 minutes against the guy you man up on the uncoached team of athletic freaks in your cruddy conference, nobody will be able to infer much about your lack of basketball acumen because the rest of your team got dominated. You were the one slightly bright spot by comparison. Don’t need to learn a thing about basketball. Just show up. Keep gettin’ dem checks!
