I haven’t found a bar / grill I like to watch the 6 banned contests.

Can you help me?

What I’d like:

• Large, clear screen, or smaller ones near enough to see the action clearly

• Sound I can hear–I’m 67 and losing some auditory function, but don’t have hearing aids yet

• Not too noisy, but if I can hear the announcers wellI can live with noise

• As close to 87th and Pflumm in Lenexa as possible–but I’d drive if I have to for the right environment

• Wait staff that don’t hover over me to keep ordering food and drink I don’t want

What are your suggestions?

I used to get very itchy skin every winter. Upping the humidifier made all the difference.

I realize your wife has a far, far worse condition than that. But maybe higher humidity will ease her condition, if only a little.

But you may have already tried that.

Sometimes when someone suggests you try something you’ve already tried, or when their suggestion underestimates your wife’s condition by a factor of a google, you just want to scream, “You just don’t understand!” But be comforted in this: they care and mean well.

May God lead you to someone who knows how to take away, or at least lessen her pain.

My guess is there are a lot of lurkers out here.

@RockChalkinTexas Thanks for trying, but I don’t know where to find the Q & A blogs or Bugs Request. And every time I try to join the chats I don’t get in. Do I use my regular “tubertigertank” and my password for it?

@approxinfinity Thanks for sharing the “How this board works.” Now the place I’m frustrated is getting into KU Buckets chat.

Is the chat room always available, or only at certain times? Do I use my user name in the “nickname” box? Do I erase the KU buckets? What in the world do I do with the key box?

@jaybate 1.0 Thanks for the thought-provoking answer on your avatar. It means so much more with the creator’s explanation.

“Tuber” (I tend to get a spare tire around my waist), “Tiger,” and “Tank” have been nicknames my brothers and friends have given me in the past. Over the past 5 years the tube has been deflated quite a bit, thankfully.

“Tiger” has nothing to do with those nasty black/yellow polecats to the East. I still despise them, but not as intensely as when they regularly got so close to our noses several times a year.

I’ve been a Jayhawk fan since I moved to KC in 1982. My daughter got her undergraduate degree and Masters in international business from KU about 13 years ago. She was a national merit finalist and got a free ride all the way–actually made money! She has a wonderful career going in the US State Dept.

I love this board, but find I have to check a few more places to make sure I’m not missing great information from favorite posters.

My greatest sorrow these days is KU Athletic Director’s decision to deprive me and my Jayhawk fan wife from watching 6 games a year on my new big screen TV. I’ve resorted to hitting the bars (which she can’t do because of health issues). I talked to a Surewest customer service rep yesterday who said he doesn’t think Surewest will be able to carry all games next year either.

I share your highest respect for HCBS. I told my wife KU ought to hire Bill Self long before anyone ever mentioned his name as a candidate for the job.

Keep up the great posts. You amaze me with your knowledge of basketball, the military, engineering, design, and so many other subjects. If it wasn’t so overused, I’d call you a true Renaissance man.

I’m not comfortable pirating the broadcasts. I’m willing to go view the game and spend a few bucks while I do so. I’m just hoping to find the best viewing / listening (hopefully not overcrowded) venue.
