I’m going to have to do some resizing of a lot of my pictures as they are too big. And my computer here at work won’t let me install the ones I have on my camera and phone.

So I got everyone (except Udoka) to sign my 13 & Counting sign. I told Lagerald I loved his athleticism and he thanked me for saying so. I told Josh that I was so thankful for him coming to play with Kansas and that he exceeded everyone’s expectations and as he was signing my “Just Joshin You” sign he said “It was my pleasure.” He said the sign was great and then signed the 13 & Counting and a picture of him slam dunking. Bragg came out with headphones on and didn’t seem to want to do anything, but he scribbled his name. D’tae laughed when he saw my picture of him and Self hugging each other and signed it and the 13 & Counting. While waiting for the players, Frank’s dad was hanging out and saw me and game me a big hug. I had him sign a picture of Frank and Coach. When Frank signed my #13IFM = POY his dad came over and asked if Frank had signed everything so I put the 13 & Counting and he signed that and then signed a picture of him showing so much emotion in the gray unis and said what game was that? and I said Texas Tech. Jeremy Case signed and I asked him how much fun that was having BRush back. He was proud of being a part of that team for sure. Tucker Vang, Brennan Bechard, Tyler all signed and when Clay Young signed I told him that I had grown up in Leavenworth (adjacent to Lansing where he was from) so he and talked about growing up there (way different eras). Coach Q signed and I told him about knowing Coach’s assistant and how she had sent me so much stuff after my cancer and then after the loss of my husband and he gave me a big hug and asked my name and said he would tell Tami that he had met me. When Coach T signed I told him I knew Tami and he said “She told me you were going to be here. How are you doing? You’ve had a rough go. Glad we could get the win for you today.” I told him I read the article about his older brother, Raymond, who had played for UCLA during Wooden’s last year of coaching and for the other teams that won the 13 titles, Coach T agreed that it was a great story and made his family proud. I missed Norm and Snacks while talking to Curtis. Finally Coach came out and gracious as ever. I told him I was the one Tami had sent the signed Christmas card to and he too asked me how I was doing. He signed 13 & Counting and the same picture of him with D’tae celebrating. Malik didn’t make the trip.

I’ll work on getting some more pictures and have lots of videos but I am not the best at technology so hope these at least show you guys some personal stuff.

I am overwhelmed with all the love and support I have received here and for @jaybate-1.0’s lovely and thoughtful words. I told some of the people here this morning that knew Mike that I was able to make it through last night just because of all of you.

And I will tell you a little secret…HEM sent me a personal message and I have encouraged him to come back to the site as life is too short and you never know when it will be taken.

All our family (on both sides) are in Kansas and you guys have become my second family.

Am watching the replay now and I will be out of pocket for a memorial service for my husband Mike today so may be tomorrow before I can post more about getting autographs and posting pictures. I promise to get to it tomorrow.

I will be able to watch him here in Austin!!! I also saw something in the paper this week that Naadir Tharpe was picked up by the Delaware DLeague team. Wasn’t that where Brannen Green was drafted?

I started back to work this week part time and made it through the week! I also received from Bill Self’s assistant a package of goodies - 2 posters (one signed by all players and coaches and the other one that is of all the players with the schedule posted below them that is 4 feet long) along with a media guide and 5 pocket schedules. She is someone that I have written each year to get the pocket schedules and she went out of her way to send me stuff this year due to my health issues. I have the poster signed by everyone hanging up on my office wall for all the Longhorn fans to see .

Got my 12Straight t-shirt on today, KU necklace, Jayhawk socks and Jayhawk earrings. The day I got out of the hospital I had to stop at my pharmacy for medicine before heading home and I had on my Rock Chalk Jayhawk shirt and the pharmacist was telling me about the medicine and she pointed to my shirt and asked “Big Fan?” Found out that she graduated from KU and after talking for awhile I found out that she had worked at the Walgreens in my hometown, Leavenworth, before moving down here. So yesterday on my way home I stopped and found her working and gave her one of the pocket schedules. We are going to try and get together for a watch party out in our area for some upcoming games. The Hawk fans do go to a bar in South Austin but that is too long a drive for me. Can’t wait to see a real game tonight!

Rock Chalk Jayhawk Go KU!

Had a great time and was good to see all the KU fans. Went to Scholz Garten about 4:30 and 2 older couples from Houston sat at my table. They had been to the 08 championship game and so walked with them to see the team bus come in at 6:00. Told them about the team coming out after the game for autographs and we went our merry way. Ended up sitting to an engineer living in Austin, who had played against Mario in Anchorage and went to KU because of Mario. He had a college buddy who also grad. KU. On the other side was a freshman at KU home with his Mom from Houston and he had on a #4 old time jersey. We were a boisterous crowd. Before the game started I was down near the court and gots lots of pictures during shoot around. Malik was limping the whole time. It was noticeable. Gary Bedore saw me from the press box and came down to say Hi. I told him we would win by 8 but that we were going to win. We talked BPreston and Gary said money needed to be paid back and that for now nobody had the money to pay back. Silvio was right in front of us and I welcomed him to Jayhawk Nation and he said THANKS. Guys were hitting all their 3’s during warmups so had a feeling they were zoned in. Reason Marcus started is because of Malik’s foot I believe. Went up to talk with Jesse and then saw Matt Tait on my way behind where Hanni and Gurley were. I padded Gurley on the shoulder and not realizing they were on the air I told him to call a win and he shushed me. Signed 5 mins. Oh Boy. So I went and sat down. The little towels they handed out that said BEAT KU I took my sharpie and wrote “IN YOUR DREAMS” below it and got a few boos for that.

Seeing the game in person is a lot different than watching them on tv for sure. No replays of one of our 3s on the video boards but had to see the Bamba dunks over and over. I am glad that we played UT last night and not later in the season here because they will get better but it was pretty evident that UT does not have another reliable perimeter shooter. The Jayhawks’ three best players are all shooting better than 44 percent behind the line; Texas has just one near that in the still-recovering Andrew Jones Shaka Smart wants to see more aggressiveness out of Dylan Osetkowski, more rebounding from his guards. The always-competitive, highly charged Big 12 basketball race will end probably as it began on Friday night. With Kansas on top. It’s as certain as the sun rising in the east. You know the sun. The one that Bill Self said he could have sworn he saw Mo Bamba block at the Erwin Center in the league opener. The Texas center didn’t, of course, but maybe only because it was a night game. That matchup might represent the Longhorns’ best chance of stealing an away victory if Smart’s bunch has any hopes of finishing 9-9 and harboring ambitions of making the NCAA Tournament after a one-year absence. Smart’s not looking nearly that far on the horizon and shouldn’t. But he knows full well how treacherous the Big 12 is with eight other league teams with an RPI in the top 47 and five of them in the top 25. “The gap tonight was six points on the scoreboard,” said Smart the literalist. “In the standings, they’re 1-0, and we’re 0-1.” And in reality, Kansas is a loaded team that has three players who can scorch the nets night after night, and Texas never knows where it’s next perimeter shot is going to come from. It needs more rebounding from its guards, more crucial stops and fewer empty possessions."

I like the hustle from Marcus and think the offense will come. Doke several times put his hand to his back and think that he didn’t attempt to block more because of the strain on his back. Hudy spent a lot of time in warmups stretching him. I looked at box score and told my seat mates “Look Vick has a quiet 21 points.” He was lethal. Devonte’ shined and don’t know if you caught him flashing the “T” sign after Higgins hit Smart. He was just walking away past midcourt and with hands down by his thighs did it twice. That’s why most of the fans booed the call. I yelled at Higgins a couple of times. Except for the goaltends not being called and Roach nocking Devonte across the face and him going down (there was a gasp by us) there were a lot less fouls than I had assumed would be called with Higgins out there. Used my binoculars to watch Coach during time outs. He was really after the guys but after Devonte’ stared down Bamba he was laughing. Silvio sat behind the team bench next to the cop guarding the bench. Never saw CMoore or the Lawson bros. On Sam not playing, I chalk it up to he hasn’t earned the trust from Coach yet. We know Coach will use PT as incentive for other goals so I’ll leave it at that. Mitch really is someone who has the right intentions and desire but he is not strong enough yet. He is as enthusiastic as all others when on the bench but you can see the disappointment in his face when he gets yanked. Toughens them up doesn’t it?

So after the game the kid with the #4 jersey and his mom followed me to get autographs and I let the kid use my sharpie to get Devonte’ to sign his jersey. Made his year he said. He showed me a selfie he had taken with Devonte’ in the cafeteria and had gotten to go to a workout with Hudy. Kid was a fan. As we were leaving the restaurant I grabbed a Jayhawk from one of the tables and gave it to one of the ladies (with an extra sharpie I had brought). Malik was the first one out and I asked him “I saw you limping in warmups. Is it your ankle?” He said “No, just my foot but we all good.” Teahan and Suskind next, then Silvio who had a lot of attention, then Doke (he is big), Svi, Mitch, and so on till Devonte’ was last and then Snacks, Coach T, Coach R, Coach Q and when HSBS came out everyone cheered and Rock Chalked. I waited for my turn with Coach and said my name and that I was the one who wrote to his assistant each year. He is so gracious taking the time for each of us. Wished him as well as all the other players when I got their autographs a HAPPY NEW YEAR. Justin Wesleey was there by the bus. It was DARKKKK - almost 11:00 by then and when I asked Devonte’ for a selfie he had to show me how to do it. Svi looked much bigger to me than I remembered. I told Vick that I loved his momma’s tweets. Bus departed at 11:10. Listened to the local sports talk when I got in my car and they were at the tale end of their show but they felt that “since we only lost to KU by 6” that it was a moral victory. Hoo Boy. Can’t wait to watch Shaka on the 6:00 pm sports spin it like in the article above.

Well Jayhawk fans. As I told Gay Bedore, Jesse and my seat mates, HCBS is going to EARN his money this year. I am so impressed how well he is able to take what talent he has and get us to where we are now. I gotta believe that this team has the players that do NOT want to end the streak and regardless of your views on how important conf. wins are vs. a national championship, it is a “pride” thing and a motivator and can’t wait to see how the ride ends up for us.

Merry Christmas to All My Friends!

@Kcmatt7 Health issues can take up a whole lot of time and energy and during the last year I’ve seen my share. Hadn’t logged on until I posted the pic from the UT game. Have kept up with the team but not in the same intense way I had before always going to this site first. My life changed so much with not just my health but the loss of my husband that it does cause you to reassess what you want and how you move forward. I think I quit coming here right after the Final Four loss to Villanova. I saw first hand what that loss meant to the team. I knew the ugly posts were going to come and I just couldn’t force myself to read all that vitriol to kids who were hurting as bad as all of us. Sometimes people expect way too much from the team and coaches. I just chose to not have that negativity in my life.

Now I’m sad to hear that @jaybate-1-0 has taken leave. I do pray that he has peace and health in his life.

##Memo to Bill Self: With this KU roster, it ain’t fool’s gold when it works

So is it winning if your coach absolutely despises how you’re doing it?

“It’s fool’s gold,” Kansas patriach Bill Self told reporters late Tuesday night after his No. 8 Jayhawks rolled Texas Tech in Lubbock, 73-51. “You can’t bank on making 55 percent or 50 percent of your threes.”

He’s right.

You can bank on 52.2 percent.

Over its past three league road games – all wins – KU (20-4, 9-2 Big 12) is 24-for-46 from beyond the arc.

In that same span, the Jayhawks are 47-106 inside the arc … a rate of 44.3 percent.

Fool’s gold works.

Self doesn’t want to hear it.

“No matter what, you can score inside off the bounce, you can score off the pass, you can score it in transition or whatever,” the coach continued. “But you’ve got to be able to score close to the basket. That’s the name of the game, in my opinion, is getting easy baskets, and eliminating easy baskets. And we’re not doing near a good enough job of doing that inside.”

Self has 10 more Big 12 titles than the rest of us, and the man is quickly closing in on No. 11. He prefers method to madness, and if you don’t like it, well, he’ll just point to the banners hanging at Allen Fieldhouse. (Similar to calling “scoreboard,” in any disagreement with coaches, pointing at the banners generally ends the debate.)

But here’s the thing: His team – which drained 11 of 18 treys in Lubbock and is 21-for-38 in its past two tilts from beyond the arc – has him in a philosophical pickle. The Jayhawk Way – proven, tested, true – is to work from paint to perimeter, inside to out. The run sets up the pass.

Which is fine except, if we could stretch the football analogy a bit, this KU team can’t run the ball for squat.

Coming in to Tuesday, the Jayhawks ranked 259th nationally in 2-point shooting percentage (45.5), 137th in effective field-goal percentage (49.eight), 249th in 3-point attempts per game (16.eight) … and 14th in 3-point percentage (40.2).

Self has seven players among the top nine in his rotation who are completely comfortable with the 3-point shot, and six of those seven went to Texas Tech having made more than 34 percent of their attempts from beyond the arc, and six with at least a dozen makes through the season’s first 23 games.

These Jayhawks defend as a unit, scrap as a unit, better than each of Self’s past two KU teams. He likes that. But they’re also the worst finishing squad under the rim that he’s had in ages, maybe the worst over a venerated 12 seasons in Lawrence, a red-headed stepchild that he loves but can’t quite tame.

Imagine Whitey Herzog content to sit on his backside, just waiting to be bailed out by the 3-run homer. Or another football analogy, if you like: KU is the anti-Chiefs. Imagine handing Andy Reid a roster with Andrew Luck in his prime under center, four or five stud wideouts and a solid, but unspectacular, tailback. Even if Big Red wanted to run 33 times a game, if he did, he’d be out of work by Week 11.

That’s the Jayhawks. Self is Vince Lombardi, and the idea of using slants and jailbreak screens and dinks and dunks to set up the run game gives him a 10-ton migraine.

He is what he is. And they are what they are.

Of the Jayhawks’ first four field goals of the contest Tuesday, three were treys. 13-4, KU.

Of the Jayhawks’ first four field goals in the second half, three were treys. 40-27, KU.

Fool’s good works.

“Forty-one percent of our attempts (were) threes,” Self continued. “Which is too many.”

He’s right, and in a perfect world, there’s a balance, multiple dimensions, multiple threats from multiple corners of the floor.

But this isn’t a perfect world. And this is far from a perfect roster. We already know the internal debate, the one eating at hole in his gut, the one question no coach wants to have to answer for in the postgame news conference. What happens when we come out and whiff on our first six from beyond the arc?

##That’s easy: Keep shooting.

#RockChalk Hey all. Like our energy. For those interested, Had another ct scan and Dr. requested a PET scan which I had yesterday. Got Good News from the doctor. No increased activity in the left lower lung and unlikely a tumor. Changes are related to the radiation. Dr. is very satisfied! Now I can go look for a new car. I want something reliable to go to the coast. We’re watching #KU Waiting on UPS to deliver a box of KU swag from the assistant to Coach that I’ve written for 12 years. Can’t wait to see what she sent. #RockChalk Just happy to share. ️

Hi everyone. As bad as the first half was it got some what better ib the 2nd. The flow of the game was out of sync. At the 8 minute mark an older lady behind UT bench had a heart attack and play stopped for awhile and all the commercials didn’t allow either team any rhythm. But the charge/block of Marcus was the game changer. I lucked out on my seats. 4 fans from Topeka who hated KSUcks as much as i do were behind me and 2 guys in front and 2 girls from Wichita next to me. Was fun when Devon made that 3 to seal the game as all the UT fans bailed. We sang the chant and it was beautiful. A young kid who sat next to me last year came by with his mom to say hi after the game!! I’ve met so many great fans over the years. I met Devon’s uncle and aunt and showed them and another couple where they come out to get the bus and she told Devon when he came out to ‘sign this nice lady’s book’ and he did! I got 3 media guides from HCBS earlier in the season so i had each player sign their page along with the coaches and even Gurley and Hanni and the team doctor i know. Hudy was around pregame and eas hugging everyone but Coach said he never got to talk to her when I was getting my picture with him. Did more videos than photos but it won’t let me post here from my phone. Too big. Saw Dedrick and high fived all the Austin Spurs guys there with him.

As we approach the tournament, wanted to give you guys a perspective of what our team will be going through. Got this response from the lady in Coach’s office that I have been in contact over the years to get me swag.

I could never forget you! I will be sure to tell Coach Q and KT hi from you!

This season has been so hard for all of the players. We have been fortunate that we haven’t had a lot of COVID issues like other schools, so we won’t be scrambling to make them up right before the Big 12 Tourney. They will head over to Kansas City for the tourney and ‘get in their bubble’ and then leave straight to Indianapolis from there and stay in that bubble. Taking a small travel party, so I won’t be going but will be able to help them and work from here while they are there. Wanting to do whatever they can to keep playing and staying healthy! They have definitely been improving – as Coach is the best and knows how to change things up when it’s needed!**

We need to go out and get Baylor on Saturday and end the regular season on a good note for sure!

I won’t be posting during this game. Since this is on CBS, I will watch out in my ‘she shed’ by myself so I can yell as much as I need to. My girls don’t like it when I do

Besides, that’s where all my best swag is and it is my sacred place.

FROM ESPN: Graham might be the season’s happiest surprise, even if he’s not surprised. After a strong practice late last season, Graham approached Charlotte coach James Borrego and declared, “I’m ready,” Borrego recalls. Borrego installed him as Kemba Walker’s backup. He showed enough to earn the same job behind Terry Rozier. Graham spent the summer strengthening his legs so he could put more power into the off-the-bounce 3s that would make or break his career, Borrego says. And then, boom. Graham is averaging 18 points and seven dimes per game, and he has hit 41% on 3s. Charlotte has scored 106 points per 100 possessions with Graham on the floor, and a pathetic 93 when he sits. Last week, Borrego inserted Graham into the starting lineup in place of Dwayne Bacon. Graham is not giving up that spot anytime soon. He has been better than Rozier (by a lot) and everyone else on Charlotte’s roster. The next step is getting more comfortable finishing in the paint, but Graham has arrived.

Thank you to all my Coaches for guiding me throughout my journey. I couldn’t have done it without you.

What a fun game to see and be a part of. All the guys played tough. Brannen was sporting a shiner from an elbow he took in practice. To silence that crowd with solid play was special. All the players said they could hear our Let’s go Jayhawks chants and the rock chalk chant. Lots of crimson & blue. Met Frank Mason’s dad who was in from VA and Kelly’s dad who was up from Houston. I told Jamari to stay healthy as we needed him each game. Talked to each one, they signed my stuff. Svi looks 17 and so much younger than all the others. More tomorrow. Hoarse from all the screaming.

I saw where congratulations were in order for Ochai. He’s engaged!!!

On this Memorial Day, I pay tribute to all of those who gave their lives for our country.

I can’t get CBS Sports Network so am looking for you guys to bring lots of updates in the chat.

Also, special request for prayers for my husband who is in ICU now. Fluid in the lungs caused him to stop breathing yesterday and was flown by helicopter to hospital where he is in an induced coma after ambulance got his heart beat and pulse back.

I need a diversion big time and am counting on all of you to help me get through tomorrow night with your vivid descriptions of plays and players.

Just got home = 12:30 AM! Great win. Told HCBS it was great that they went to the zone and he said it was the “guys” who made it work to get us back to up 10. I’ll chime in tomorrow when I’ve gotten to watch the replay and post some pictures. I was in a row of ALL KU FANS and it was so much fun. Haven’t read anything here but damn the refs missed at least 3 goal tends. And the T on Smartass was glorious. The fans started booing and I told the ones around me that the UT fans are almost as bad as ISU. Dog tired but we got the W.

Going to have to spend some time downsizing my photos as they exceed the allotted space requirements. Forgot to add that when Silvio was signing my stuff, I asked him when he was going to play and he said “Tuesday.” When Billy signed, I told him we were all praying for him and several chimed in the same. He said he was ready to get this behind him so we will see. Gary actually said that their is also the part about “who the car belonged to issue” that hadn’t been resolved, but said team is optimistic both will be free on Tues. when the NCAA offices open again after the break. Rewatching the game I heard Bilas pretty much say the same thing.

I think I’ve told you all that I worked for 31+ years with the brother (an attorney) of Dr. Jeff Randall (one of the team surgeons). Last year after the loss to Oregon, he promised me a ticket if we got to SA. After I retired in July, from time to time I would check in with him and once sent him a photo posted by D. Beatty that showed a picture of his nephew (his namesake - Preston Randall) going off to the Navy Seal program. SO, after we beat Duke I texted him and he responded how much fun that was. Dr. R and his wife get 2 free tickets and then he gets an extra 6. So when Preston and I talked on Monday, he said he had to find out if their mom/dad were coming from AZ and that he would call me back. So last night getting ready for bed I had been kinda bummed all day because I still hadn’t heard from him and thought that meant bad news, and wanted to text him all day to say “Go ahead and give me the bad news”, but he called at 9:50 and said I was in!!! I am so pumped. His other brother and 2 of his kids are going, along with me and Preston, and then his wife (who has a commitment already and won’t go to the game) is going to come down to SA separately with their daughter to have lunch and the daughter will stay with us while she goes back to Austin for a Deppak Chopra (sp?) show and their daughter will ride back with Preston and me. I am going to meet him at his house at 8:00 am so we can get down there to enjoy the atmosphere. That makes for a really long day, but I am so excited to experience it all. Rewind to 2011 when we were down there and we were right there in the team hotel and had all the connections. We will be doing the same thing here. The tickets are for all 3 games, so when we win, I am also in for Monday’s game too!

So, anybody else going to be there that I could run into?

What I would give to have seen yesterday’s team play that way last week. What I saw in Austin was atrocious. I guess every team will, at some point, have a really bad game. But for us to do so in both Austin and at WVU was worrisome. I thought a “players only meeting” was needed but glad to see Devonte’ step up.
Hope the team realizes how much more fun it is to have a first half like they did yesterday.

Hard to express what went through my mind watching that game yesterday. Just so proud of the team and think that the time they spent together will bring only good things this season. No disrupters. As @drgnslayr always said, this team has a chip on their shoulder and proved to themselves they could do it. Dayton was simultaneously good and bad. Exceptional shooting but short on respect.

Mr. Shorty Shorts has put in the hard work and it shows. Coach always a mind focused on defense and Marcus has heard him. Just an amazing stat sheet for the whole team. This is what we lacked last year.

I took the position that it was for my betterment to not be consumed with anxiety that came from being a spoiled fan going through the 14 conference championships to the investigations, the recruiting whoes and the overall play being subpar. I have instead watched as a fan but without the intensity that we all have experienced on this site. I turned the KState game off with 7 minutes to go and that is the first time I have ever not thought we could make a come back. It was 75 degrees outside and chose to go for a walk instead. In my case, I hope they earn my trust back. The transfers didn’t pan out, Coach is still Coach, and it’s just not the same for me.

Dear Cyclone friends, it’s happening again. For the third year in a row, the Iowa State Cyclones seem to be on pace to come up just short in your quest to unseat the Kansas Jayhawks from the top of the Big 12 Conference. For the third year in a row, fan & media expectations for a cardinal & gold-clad usurper have been squashed under the downhill boulder of the Jayhawk juggernaut. The pride & appreciation of being a relevant program after a walk through the wilderness is mixed with the envy & frustration of being just a step behind the bluest of blue blood programs.

You love Mayor McDreamy and thank him for bringing the program back from the Clockwork Orange Greg McDermott Experiment, but quietly wonder if he’s got the mojo it takes to sling stones at Goliath. It sucks, I know. Everyone in Austin knows, because you’ve basically become what the Texas Longhorns were for most of the 2000s: The Second Best Big 12 Team. For years, fans and media alike expected Texas to knock off Kansas, and Texas got achingly close a number of times(including sharing the crown twice). Many of the ambivalent attitudes espoused about the defensive prowess of The Shirtless Wonder - even money Georges Niang is taking the picture - were being said about Rick Barnes(shirtless photo not available) and his offensive issues.

Still, they never delivered the kill-shot that would have truly opened up the conference crown for other schools So here we are, a pair of skinny-fat women standing around at last call, wondering how we missed hooking up with Tom Hardy when he walked through the bar two hours ago. Sure, we’re judging each other, running our own internal monologues about how the other obviously didn’t deserve a chance and we should be the one combing his mustache with our hip flexors, but the reality is we’re both at the bar together, and yet alone.

So what do we do about our common foe? How can we leverage our frenemy status to take out Basketball Voldemort? It’s not like we could capture & burn alive a Jayhawk in some sort of ritual sacrifice because I MEAN WHO DOES THAT, THAT’S PATENTLY RIDICULOUS AND ONLY THE IDEA OF A CRAZY PERSON WITHOUT MORALS OR INTERNALIZED ETHICS also because the bird doesn’t even exist, I checked. Allow me to throw around a few ideas.

1.Send the FBI an anonymous tip that Bill Self invented Silk Road.

2.Get GamerGate defenders to SWAT Bill Self’s house on game day.

3 We could beat them on a basketball court multiple times in a season. (this was stricken through on the site but can’t make it do it here). Right, sorry.

4.Fly Rick Barnes, Fred Hoiberg, & Pat Summit to England to create a 3-person coach baby capable of taking out the Kansas Jayhawks.

5.Stitch together a suit so Barnes & Hoiberg are literally joined at the hip, let them each coach one end of the floor.

6.Paint a dead pigeon blue, set it on fire. If a bucket of fried chicken worked in Major League, maybe this will work for us.

7.Create a clone army consisting of 3 Isaiah Taylors, 3 Jameel McKays, 3 Myles Turners, and 1 Georges Niang(because he can’t be duplicated, am I right?).

8.Clone a dozen copies of Anna Kendrick, just because.

9.Destroy cloning machine before Kansas finds it.

10.Seriously, we don’t need Self duplicating Mario Chalmers for the next 25 years.

11.On second thought, maybe the cloning machine is too powerful for any one person to have.

12.(I’m still keeping the Anna Kendrick clones.)

I’m open to suggestions, guys.

I talked to Frank’s dad a lot after the game outside waiting on the players to board the bus and he told me the next 2 years were going to be fun to watch Frank grow. So I said that means he is staying and he said yes. Really nice guy and down to earth. He knew a local optomerist here who flew him down. After the bus left he told me he had forgotten to ask Frank about meeting President Obama. We talked about Frank’s and one after the Jamari floor burn midcourt and how Frank was not intimidated by ther bigs. I told him Frank was a BULLDOG.

Kelly’s dad was really gracious and thanked me for supporting him and the team, knowing tickets were not cheap. We talked about their life after Katrina and how much closer they were. I told him I always had faith that Coach knew how to get the most from his players as there was no givens when you play at KU and that Dr. Randall had told me what a great kid Kelly was. He said Kelly always wanted to go to KU to learn from the best! I asked Kelly to sign the picture of his backwards dunk and he was so proud of that picture he showed it to his dad. He said he hadn’t seen that one.

Texas fans are such a##holes. When they were up in the beginning, one guy a couple rows in front turned around and grabbed his crotch and said Rock Chalk this. Late in the second half when we were chanting Let’s go Jayhawks he screamed at us to get a football team. Then when the Rock Chalk chant started, he said At least we don’t have to live in Kansas. That is why our solid D and play shut them up much better than anything I could have said back at him. I’ve probably lived in Austin longer than him as I moved here in 1980! He kept yelling to foul us. When Ridley was at the line to shoot 2 I screamed Miss It on both and he did! Payback is a mf. Not to mention they all started to leave with 3+ minutes left. I asked each of the guys if they could hear us fans and Tyler said that was awsome. I asked Evan how his dad liked it at Wake and he said he was enjoying it. I told Svi to hang in there his time would come. Cliff was the last player out and I thanked him for his energy and dunking the shit out on the and he said That WAS fun. Brannen’s ease in shooting is something to see in person. No words can describe how pure he is. I told Devante I loved his hussle and that this board was happy for him and in his return and he flashed a big smile. The only one I didn’t see as real supportive was Landen. Hunter was really happy with the W and I said it was good to get the payback. Snacks knows everyone and was a gentleman along with Norm and Jerrance. Coach was last one out and signed my poster and said Yes this was a really good win and a tough one on the road too.

Sad to hear this. I dated Clint when I was a senior and he was a junior (GASP) and I think I may have told you about attending every home game during 74-75 season because of Clint. It was, as they say, a complicated time in race relations. RIP

Former Kansas Guard Clint Johnson Dies

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Former Kansas men’s basketball guard Clint Johnson died Nov. 16, 2022 at his home in Livermore, California. Johnson was 66 years old.

A native of Leavenworth, Kansas, Johnson played at Kansas from 1974-75 to 1977-78 and started 87 of 108 games played under head coach Ted Owens. While at KU, Johnson’s teams won two Big Eight Holiday Tournaments, in 1974 and 1977, and one Big Eight regular-season title in 1978. The 1978 squad was later inducted into the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame.

Johnson averaged 8.8 points for his career and accumulated 225 assists and 127 steals. He concluded his career with 951 points scored as a Jayhawk.

Johnson excelled in basketball and track at Leavenworth High School and was later inducted into the LHS Hall of Fame for his basketball prowess.

Following KU, Johnson played professional basketball in the Netherlands. Once done with basketball, Johnson settled in California where he started a family and worked in the car business until his passing.

Well-known as a teammate, friend of all and dedicated father and grandfather, in December 2015, Johnson was featured Once A Jayhawk, Always A Jayhawk.

A Celebration of Life for Johnson will be in Leavenworth with a date, location and time to be announced.

@HawkInMizery Congrats. My Dad had season tickets way back to the Lenny Dawson era and were 29 rows up on the 40 yd line behind their bench. Cold as all get out some games but I came from Minnesota (same town Cole Aldrich grew up in) and born in So. Dakota so am a tough girl. My brother worked for a company who gave him season tickets to the Royals 77-80 and we sat 11 rows behind home plate. I have a picture of Thurman Munson at the batter box looking right at me and that was right before he died. We HATEd the Yankees then didn’t we? Good times at Kaufman were definitely had with my husband.

And to think we did this after an early game on Sat. (we won) and then travelling to that place and gutting it out. Thing 1 is that WVU had to play Sat. (and lost) and Thing 2 is that they also had the travel thing but much later than we did. For once all the lined up for us.

Love that Silvio came to play = 16 points. ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK. What a dogged team. And the HOF Coach came ready to call the calls. Jevon Carter and Daxter Miles NEVER won the Big 12 Conf. or Tournament the whole 4 years they were at WVU. They were denied hanging the banner and I am so ecstatic. 15 3’s. Got buckets when we needed them. Determination was a real factor. 48 points in the second half. Our Hawks proved to themselves they could do it without Dok and others stepped up. I have followed him as he has gone through high school and believe it’s a great get for our program. He was on live ABC local station to announce. Of course they were hoping for UT, but even in the paper today, there was a big article at the top of the front page of the sports section, with the headline: WESTLAKE STAR ADAMS MAKES HIS CHOICE: ‘KANSAS, BABY’ The announcement with over 50 friends and family gave out party favors of bottles of Jayhawk-decorated hand sanitizers.

When it comes to college basketball, Westlake fans have a couple of schools in the Big 12 to root for.

Three former Chaparrals — Brock Cunningham, Will Baker and Shay Holle — are now playing at Texas. Matthew Mayer is playing at Baylor.

But when asked this weekend about which Big 12 team the Chaparrals should pledge their allegiance to, rising senior KJ Adams presented a new option.

“Kansas, baby. Rock Chalk, Jayhawk,” Adams said with a smile.

Inside a basketball gym in South Austin, Adams announced his commitment to Kansas on Friday on live TV. He revealed his plans in front of 50 mask-wearing friends and family members. Bottles of Jayhawks-decorated hand sanitizer were given out as party favors.

Adams said he made up his mind more than a week ago and that Kansas coach Bill Self was the deciding factor. Adams said he had talked with around a dozen players who did and did not attend Kansas, and that he consistently received positive feedback about KU’s coach.

“With all this quarantine stuff, I didn’t have a chance to go out there,” Adams said. “I’m just blessed to know that no one has ever talked bad about him or said anything about him. That’s rare to see as a coach. You always get one player that says something bad about a coach.”

Adams, a four-star power forward, is the state’s sixth-best prospect for the 2021 recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports’ composite ratings. The 6-foot-7 big man was a unanimous selection to the Statesman’s All-Central Texas team this past winter. As a junior, he averaged 22.6 points and 6.7 rebounds.

What should Kansas fans expect out of him? Westlake coach Robert Lucero had a list of intangibles.

Athleticism? Check.

Defensive versatility? Check.

High basketball IQ? Check.

“Everybody wants to win, but to truly sacrifice for wins and then be happy at the end of the night regardless of how many points you put up, that’s kind of rare,” Lucero said. “I think that attitude will fit in well when he gets to college.”

With his commitment, Adams added another accomplishment to his family’s archive of athletic achievements. His father, Kevin, played football at New Mexico. His sister, Brittany, was an all-conference volleyball player at SMU. And Adams’ mother, the former Yvonne Hill, twice led Texas A&M women’s basketball team in scoring.

Like his mother and sister, Adams could have chosen an in-state school. Texas, Texas Tech and Baylor were among his suitors. Adams, though, has decided to forge his path outside of the state.

“It wasn’t really about location for me,” he said. “It was just about what I can do to be a better basketball player. Location is one thing and basketball is another thing.

“It doesn’t matter about my (comfort level) with the state or who’s there. I think whatever was the best place for basketball for me, wherever it is, I was going to go there.”**
