    • RE: Where is @Red_Rooster?

The “Red_Rooster” has been diverted somewhat lately. I have NOT forgot about my KUBUCKETS friends but I have been focused on a couple other things lately.

The number one focus that I have / had is caring for my 79 year old wife. She has been in and out of the hospital / doctors offices several times in the past few months. I am NOT sure that she has been diagnosed very well as to what problem she has. Her symptoms are ones that relates to the “nerve endings” under her skin. She constantly itches and scratches all over her body and ALL the time. I would say she has 300 - 400 open wounds on her body from scratching the skin so much that it openly bleeds. Her feet, calves, thighs, buttocks, stomach, back, arms, face, and ears all bleed. Constantly scratching and itching 24-hours per day. She has been to several doctors with NO Solution as of this writing. All we know now, is our primary doctors has “three other patients” with the same problem that my wife has, and they don’t have a solution either. Have any of my Buckets friends heard of this condition … and if so I would like to discuss this with you?

The other thing that is keeping me diverted is HS School Football. One of my close friends happen to be the father of the Overland Park, KS., Blue Valley Football Team coach. Tonight, Blue Valley beat Shawnee Mission East High School in Class 6A in the KS. State Semi-finals. Next weekend they will play against Derby High School in Class 6A State Championship game to be played in Wichita, KS. Hopefully, and God willing and Wife willing, I will be able to travel to Wichita to watch the game.

So … yes I’m trying to get back into the KUBuckets routine as Basketball season is here !! And I’m ready to watch KU take that National Championship trophy!

Bless you all … Your friend … the Red_Rooster !!!

    • RE: New Kansas Poll About Rivalries

@KUSTEVE I have my good times and bad times. Thanks for noticing … as I am a “very interested” about ALL KU Basketball activities and discussions.

How about a little personal update on my health. … I went to a Neurologist over here in Overland Park, KS. in early 2016, Dr. Cochran. As a result of that, she sent me to a Dr. Deutch who specializes in “testing.” He did a MRI of my brain and then gave me a “Battery of Neurology Tests” … that lasted over five hours long in a “rapid and timed tests” in June 2016 that was very stressful. This tested a number of things … “ability to think,” “ability to memorize,” and “ability to rationalize what you read, and answer questions based on the content”. I found out that I had a “MILD” case of Dementia.

One year later, Dr. Cochran, wanted a second test done which I took just this past June, 2017. This time they gave me the same “Battery of Neurology Tests” for competitive reason and I found out that I had a “NEAR SEVERE” case of Dementia. These results “surprised m” and made me think of my own Mother in her final days whereby she was nothing but a vegetable. No speech, No eye movement, No recognition of who I was. … I asked myself … Am I heading to that same condition ???

The good news is, I feel blessed and still have the ability to know when I’m in a temporary Dementia phase or not. I then pick and choose when my body tells me that I can or can’t do an activity or not like paying monthly bills, go grocery shopping, or just go lay down and rest. Right now, I am in a “good time” and therefore replying back to you.

    • RE: Loyola has Sister Jean, how about Father @Red_Rooster for KU?

@lincase … At 75 years YOUNG, I would be pleased to SUPPORT the JayHawks during this Tournament season. If everyone is “healthy,” I would think we have as good a chance as any other team. With a “Healthy Doke,” anything is possible including a National Championship. I do have concern that Graham can “keep going at the pace he is on.” All the other supporting players has come along GOOD and has pick up the slack. I think we make the Final 4 and then Play in the LAST GAME of the Year! I have my fingers crossed that this will be a special year for KU and this 75 year ole man !!!

    • RE: Time for a red rooster update on his better half👸

@Crimsonorblue22 Thank YOU for asking / inquiring about HOW Mrs. and Mr. Red.Rooster are doing! My wife had her 80th birthday just a few days ago, on June 22nd. To bring you and others “up-to-date” on her situation, I have reached back and copied my "last response that I provided back in early November, 2016.

Here it is … from November, 2016 ""The “Red_Rooster” has been diverted somewhat lately. I would say she has 400 - 500 open wounds on her body from scratching the skin so much that it openly bleeds. Her feet, calves, thighs, buttocks, stomach, back, arms, face, and ears all bleed. Constantly scratching and itching 24-hours per day.

Then about two months later … I reported the number of open wounds on her body was estimated at that time to be 300 - 400. (So progress was being made).

Today the current situation is … She is MUCH, Much, much better with open wounds that have scabbed over is now around 75 - 100. So a great deal of progress has been made. In fact … the daily washing of bed sheets have ceased and now is about once a week occurrence. In fact (and coincidentally), today we went to J.C. Penny’s to purchase Brand New Sheets and most of the nightly bleeding has now stopped. So, to you @Crimsonorblue22, and many others thank you for your “continual prayers” for my wife. Right now … my job is to keep “Mercurochrome” or “Tincture Merthiolate” painted on the remaining sores. I NOW consider her health situation is now under some form of control and now a major concern to our family.

The health concern has now shifted to MYSELF. I have been having problems with “Alzheimer’s.” This runs in the family as my mother had a severe case of it at the end of her lifetime. She lived to be 96 years old and my dad 98 years old. At the end of her lifetime, my dad was putting all her food in a blender and feeding her. She wore a “diaper” every day for the last 3 - 4 years. The burden on my Father were horrendous particularly when one considers his age. I provide this information as background to “my own situation.” I, myself, have recently been to a number of health doctors, neurologists, MRI specialists, etc.,. as I am moving into a early Alzheimer’s Stage. When I talk about my condition … I refer to it as my “ability of tracking.” TRACKING like traction of car on an “icy road” … do I have good traction, or am I slipping around on the road without control. Each morning, my wife and I normally talk about my level tracking at that particular point in time … and right now I would say I am in a normal range of 75 - 80 %. I am still able to discern whether I should or should NOT drive a car (i.e. run to the grocery store) or skip it for that day. I know when I should go lay down and rest. I in a dilemma as my wife can’t take care of me as I need to be helping her out … but I’m concerned about my tracking level, and my ability to help her and continued to do ALL the things around the home … cook, laundry, shopping, house cleaning, taking care of the yard, garden, etc.,. The last place I want to go is to some type of “Care Facility” as I love my freedom of going outdoors and doing things. As they say … “They took the “Boy” (ie. Red.Rooster) out of the Country, but they did NOT take the “country” out of the boy.”

@Crimsonorblue22 … Thanks for asking about the Red.Rooster. Sorry about my lengthy response. I enjoy YOUR KUbuckets posting and ALL of my Bucket friends. I read EACH and EVERY ONE of the postings and responses under the “K.U. Basketball” blog. Hope you had a GREAT Christmas and you are looking for a better 2018. I am … . Father Time is catching up on both my wife and I’ve slowed down quite a bit during the past year. It seems to me that everything that I do now is quite a chore. … Most of the things I “use too” enjoy is now quite a challenge to get them done. Oh well … another year lies ahead.
Thanks again @REHawk for asking! I’m hoping that our KU boys can get it together and not only win the B12 but go deep into the tournament. Can they win it all ??? They will need several breaks to do so … My fingers are crossed.

    • RE: In 25 hours we play the OKLAHOMA SOONERS

      @wrwlumpy

      What is Box Plus/Minus?

Box Plus/Minus? (BPM) is a box score-based metric for evaluating basketball players’ quality and contribution to the team. It is the latest version of a stat previously called Advanced Statistical Plus/Minus; it is NOT a version of Adjusted Plus/Minus, which is a play-by-play regression metric.

BPM relies on a player’s box score information and the team’s overall performance to estimate a player’s performance relative to league average. BPM is a per-100-possession stat, the same scale as Adjusted Plus/Minus: 0.0 is league average, +5 means the player is 5 points better than an average player over 100 possessions (which is about All-NBA level), -2 is replacement level, and -5 is really bad.

@Jayballer54 Thanks for your honesty about the name “Gerry Butler.” I really don’t know a Gerry as I grew up in Colorado on a farm, helped the parents “milking cows” by hand and I “rode horseback” to school through the 4th Grade. I went to college at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO. (Just North of Denver, CO.). I was a member of CSU’s Rodeo team and rode “Bucking Bulls.” I graduated in 1965 and joined the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) and traveled extensively from one Rodeo event to the next, thinking I was indispensable and was going to make a Million $$$ riding Bucking Bulls.
Finally, I woke up, and realized that I was “NOT getting rich” and instead was getting busted up by getting bucked off of the bucking bulls much too frequently, getting thrown into the fence, stomped on, butted, etc.,. So, I had to change my career and went back to Graduate School and got an MBA with my focus was Computer Science. I got a “really job” with Black & Veatch (B&V) Consulting Engineers here in Overland Park, KS. At B&V, I started as a Programmer and worked my way up to become head of the Computer Services Division (CSD). I manged and was held accountable for the CSD Budget. I purchased the first PC (microcomputer) for B&V and when I left/retired, B&V had over 20,000 laptop / desktop computers, all supported by a Large Mainframe and Central computing facilities. I retired after 34 years of service to B&V and am now 79 years young.

So Jayballer54, we really don’t know each other. I guess YOUR name by reading blogs on what I call the “Old Site” that could have become a GREAT Site for Jayhawk sports information but missed their chance. They are too, too, rigid in their requirements to register for access to their site. Here … @APPROXINFINITY (?? on my spelling) has stepped in an provide a “GREAT”, Great Site for ALL posters that like JayHawk information, Thanks goes to " @APPROXINFINITY for ALL of his HARD WORK and EXCELLENT SERVICE that is provided to us, the Jayhawk Fans.

Jayballer54 / Gerry thanks for responding to my inquiry … and … please have a great 2018 … and keep us updated on Jayhawk information. I promise … I will read “each and every Jayhawk” related post on this site.

@HighEliteMajor , YOUR POST is a Great, great post. It clearly describes what has occurred over the season. It is also sad. in a way. that it RIPS some of our players confidence out when it comes to that point in a game that we have to score with a 3 !! We absolutely lost some of our players (i.e. Greene) when Self took THAT TOOL out of the players TOOL BAGS. This (as you so well described) will determine how we end the season … Self’s way VS. the Fools Gold way with the 3.

It is also clearly evident that when we need 3’s at the end of the game, we lack the confidence to make them. And i hope that this fact will NOT write the “KU’s FINAL CHAPTER”!!

@Crimsonorblue22 YES … I am still hanging on … my Wife and Myself are having GOOD Days and BAD days. This HOT weather that we are experiencing here in Overland Park is having an impact on my health. Still battling with Alzheimer’s and its effect on me and my mind. Short term memory is “nearly gone.” And I have my days that I don’t know what, where, when, and how I am and what I should do. The latest health problem is “Ringing in My Ears.” In fact, my ears are ringing right now as I am typing this message. I do have a doctor appointment with a Doctor that is a “Hearing Specialist.”

Having lived on a farm most of my early years … I feel like I’m one of my Dad’s Old Tractors that was breaking down on a daily / weekly basis. Perhaps, I need a “Tune Up.”

I can’t wait until FALL and this hot weather breaks. Beside that we will be getting close to the Basketball Season. It Looks to me like KU should be pretty tough to beat this coming season.

“Crimson …” Thanks for asking … it is a good feeling to have some of my “Buckets” friends to ask about me and essentially “Stand In My Corner” in this battle that I am fighting.

I am sure you know that I read EVERY comment in the KU_BASKETBALL_NEWS category of this web site. And … I want to THANK “Aprox… .” for making this Web-Site available to all.

Final Score: USA 95 Ukraine 71

Svi did not play during the first half. He was wearing #7 on his back. If you watch the last 3 minutes “playing time” of the game you will see Svi play. He tries a dunk on a lob at the rim at the 2:55 mark left. He commits a foul at 1:49 left. He tries a 3 pointer at the 1:25 mark. And he finally knocks a 3 pointer down at the 0:54.

Fran Frachilla (sp?) had several nice things to say about Coach Self and also a lot about Svi and what he will bring to KU. Also he talked about KU reloading and mentioned of Embeed and Wigs, etc. I did not hear Fran talk about any other college during the broadcast and certainly not with the accolades he said about KU.

So if you taped the game … at least watch the last 3:00 of playing time in the game. Thank You … I’m out!

@REHawk Thank you for your comments! Appreciate your kindness. As for my wife’s situation … nothing has changed! We have been to the Emergency Room, to Dermatologists, Neurologists, our Family Doctor, etc.,. I am continuing to spend big bucks on across the counter medicine, creams, oils, salves, etc.,. to no avail. “Bless her heart” she is much tougher now and is putting up with it without “all the crying out with pain.” We still have NOT found an answer yet. I’m doing laundry every couple days, washing bed sheets and covers that have a lot of blood on them due to her numerous wounds that she scratch’s the scabs off of them. We both are dealing with it as best we can. I do think that the number of open wounds have decreased from 400 - 500 to 300 -400 which is a little progress. Thanks again for you thoughts, concerns and prayers. Your KU Buckets friend. The Red Rooster !!

@Statmachine I’m a Farm Boy myself … lived on a farm (1400 acres pasture land) 200 acres under the plow. Road horseback to a two room schoolhouse. Had chores to do each day and on each birthday, my dad would come to me, putting his arm around my shoulder, and would say, "Son … you another year older today … and that means you can handle more responsibility … so I want you to continue ALL the existing chores you have been doing … But with more responsibility I want to ADD another chore to your daily list of chores.

Needless to say … over the years, I learned to Hate Birthdays as they meant more work. Needless to say … I learned a lot about Responsibility along the way.

Thank you for sharing a little picture into YOUR Farm !! Be Blessed!!

No live blog for Baylor game

Internet is down at location Posted: January 7, 2015 - 7:56pm

      By The Capital-Journal

The internet is down at Baylor, which is why there isn’t a live blog from CJOnline staff member, Jesse Newell.

Eric Smith, online editor at The Topeka Capital-Journal, said the issue is trying to be resolved, but he is unsure of when it will be resolved.

I’m NOT much of a Blogger / Chater but I certainly will NOT use the KUsports web-site. It goes back to their policy that they instituted a couple of years ago. No way, No How will I ever comment on that web-site.

I will admit that at one time they had a GOOD thing going on at KUsports but that was before management got involved and they “instituted some crappy policies” and nearly all of there bloggers left them … and I AIN’T going BACK !!
