KJ played the best game he could possibly played and we lost because the guard group is horrible

RE: We're preseason Number ... 19posted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
I’m more excited for this season than I was for last season. I was pretty sure we had no nba guys and we were running back a core that still had horrible fit problems. We got the potential #1 pick on our team this year and a bunch of athletes. Tons to be positive about

RE: Transfer Rumblingsposted in Behind the Wall
@jayballer67 I mean it’s a fact dajuan isn’t very athletic. Doesn’t take away from the fact that he knows and plays his role

Never speak of this game again
-
RE: Transfer Rumblingsposted in Behind the Wall
@approxinfinity IMO I always believed athleticism manifested itself via a combination of explosion, jumping ability and speed and dajuan has never really showcased that(always plays slow and doesn’t finish great near the rim). His gifts manifest themselves via finding the open man and playing good defense. With all the scorers that we’ve gotten this offseason he just needs to keep hitting the open man.

Not taking much from the game other than Passmore and dajuan looked good and KJ looked like KJ, aka non spacing forward who’s a bad fit with the star pieces on the roster

RE: Petersonposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
That’s all well and good, but when he doesn’t lead us to a national championship and bolts for big bucks I’ll just yawn. Maybe it will be fun but I’d much rather know the next Jalen Wilson or Devonte Graham of TRob was coming! Maybe they are coming too.
This program desperately needs Peterson. We’ve been stuck with senior holdovers for the last 2 seasons and they’ve been incredibly underwhelming. Peterson has the potential to be the best guard in college basketball and the best guard in the nba, and he’ll probably be the face of the program in the NBA since Embiid is cycling out his career. You need upper echelon talent to survive
-
RE: Petersonposted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
Embiid, Wiggins left college with a 2nd round exit in the tourney, of course Joel was hurt, but we lost a lot of games that year with them. Josh Jackson played on a more complete team with us I think and we made it to the sweet 16.
TBH honest I don’t care if he’s the face of the program for the next decade in the NBA. Does nothing for us.
The only way I’ll really be impressed if the young man is good enough to lead us to a championship. Maybe he is. Can Self build around him well enough? IDK.
yeah man I totally disagree. Him being successful in the program is huge for future recruits and for public perception. Coaches can point to him as a success story for going to kansas, like how they’ve used Embiid for all of the bigs recruiting for the last 10 years. Guys like Jalen Wilson and CB are totally fine NBA players but they aren’t needle movers like darryn might be.

Hilariously awful game from bean. That one play where he could’ve just ran upward for the first down and pushed it to the side sticks with me

@BShark I’m just not sure you can keep him off the floor. The athleticism is off the charts and if he can shoot it at even a mediocre level he’s an All-B12 player.
A lot of buzz right now. He’s rapidly improving and the problem with Terio is a lack of consistency.
well if elmarko starts we’re definitely going to enjoy his talents for one season only

@BeddieKU23 It really is incredible that we picked this guy up in the middle of the summer and he’s probably going to become a top 20 draft pick

Hilarious given the fact that they’re the oldest team in college basketball

RE: KU Roster for 25-26posted in KU Basketball / Other NCAAM
I don’t blame people for being a little low on this team given the history of the last 2 seasons. But this is a totally new team built around a great NBA prospect with athletes all across the board. As you said, we’ll get an idea of whether or not they should be ranked higher earlier with the non conference schedule

RE: 2024 recruiting threadposted in KU Basketball Recruiting
Honestly didn’t think we were gonna be a major part of Tre Johnson’s recruitment but I saw some Baylor people say that the big three for him were Baylor, Texas and Kansas and in one of the 247 recruiting videos, Travis Branham made the visit sound like a pretty major development. Ultimately we’ll see, seems like a Nike guy. I’d also love for Kansas to throw an offer out to VJ Edgecombe, he’s a riser in the rankings and he’ll be on the Adidas circuit this spring/summer so we should have an in

Also I didn’t realize that Jaylon Tyson was putting up over 20 a game after becoming eligible. We really hit the worst outcome possible in the portal
In the case of Tyson, he didn’t want another hard ass head coach. We did try.
Fair. Also made me realize the actual worst outcome would’ve been McCullar leaving and having to start mgbako

Looks like Gradey has found his groove a bit in Toronto. 4-4 on 3’s tonight, 18 points for the 2nd game in a row and 3rd time in 5 games. Gradey is averaging 10.4 per game in February. They wouldn’t be talking about UConn as a favorite again if Gradey had stayed for another season. Same two games teammate Ochai has gotten 13 and 14 points.
I’ve seen raptors fans clamor for them to draft furphy with the success of the other two Kansas wings

It’s looking like 2 straight seasons of Self mailing it in after it looks like the team doesn’t have it. Pretty embarrassing given his wage.

seems like Jesse Edwards is looking for an NIL bag and it’s a little more complicated since he’s international. Whichever team he commits to probably has to swing an international trip over the summer. Rather have Holmes
I prefer Holmes to him EASILY if he becomes available.
Holmes would be my favorite big by far if he hits the portal. Need him to leave and need him to not immediately commit to duke.
I think he would absolutely be a star playing for Bill Self.
Holmes is training with Mccullar right now in New Jersey…sadly probably means he’s weighing the draft heavily lol

What about the players “wage”? GTFO! Self at least has earned his over YEARS of work and success. He’s proven he cares. These kids have proven NOTHING.
Not sure why we can’t maintain some sort of standard for him. Love him for his legendary tenure, but these last few seasons have been a disaster and he’s the main architect for this roster with a top 5 NIL budget in the sport. He said he was thinking about the roster for this season for the majority of last season and ended up putting out the same main parts and added complimentary transfers versus making an actual change and doubling down on archaic basketball principles.

Raising the price of the brick probably. Texas is still an option but listening heavily to Gleague and Arkansas.
Bossi said that his family wanted more promises and assurances regarding role. Guess they saw how Dillion Mitchell and arterio played this season and didn’t feel great about Texas and one and done.

It’s pretty inexplicable that calipari didn’t get a single transfer. Out of those three players, Reeves seemed like the only one with a solid shot of coming back.
