    • RE: Jaybate, come home!

Thanks for the effort, approx! Here’s hoping they all come home.

Horrible thing the LJW did. I’ll never forget that feeling when everybody was saying their goodbyes. Been friends with many of them, only as an alias, for about 7 years. It was a terrible feeling having that ripped away.

The lyrics from Don McLean’s epic tale of innocence lost, American Pie, kept running through my head. I never posted it because I’m not bending over for LJW. I never posted it because by the time it had come to me it was too late. The show was over.

But I’ll post it here. A place you’ve created for people who prefer a truly open forum. It’s funny how this situation mirrors McClean’s song. The good old days, the rebellion, and the ultimate demise of a free thinking culture.

That day was "The day the music died.”

This may seem a little dramatic, but it’s not really. It’s bigger than just KUSports. It’s as big as facebook itself. I’m even more disappointed that there are fewer and fewer free spaces to roam and explore. facebook just keeps buying them up.

So thanks again for the effort. I’ll do my best to help make this work. It’s a good thing.

    • RE: Bill Self says Travis Ford's comments about Andrew Wiggins were not a big deal.

LOL Travis Ford. Man, I have nothing against the guy, but as soon as I got past the initial elation of landing Wiggins, it came to me. And it made me laugh.

I think I posted. “Travis Ford just facepalmed!”

The image of him doing exactly that just amuses the hell out of me. I mean I can just hear a thundering “Son of a BITCH!!” coming from his office. (Ooh, I can say that here can’t I? Bonus!)

Poor Travis. All things considered I think he’s handling it pretty well.

    • RE: The Rules For A Safe Ice Bucket Challenge...

nuleaf I hope you aren’t serious. I have nothing but respect for you but this craze is the best thing that’s happened in the fight against ALS… EVER! My buddy has battled ALS for nearly a decade and it is a terrible, terrible thing… Every year in September they do a walk to raise money. This year they are doing it at Arrowhead Stadium. Team Struttin’ for Scott. You should look them up. Crazy fun bunch of folks, with huge hearts. It is a hard thing raising money for something other than cancer in this country. They’ve raised about $86k in 9 years.

A great effort to be sure. but the Ice Bucket Challenge has created more awareness and $$$ for ALS than ever before. 25 times the amount from this period last year. $53 million dollars since July 29. Compared to 2.2 last year.

Yes of course just send money, but without participating in the Challenge you aren’t spreading the word, and that’s where the money really comes in. It’s not idiotic at all.

    • RE: Keegan piece on Weis nails it

I have to say, I still believe there is something fishy about all those dropped passes. No way every single receiver on our team permanently slumps once they arrive at KU without a good reason.

Right now I’m not only looking at Notre Dame retread #1, Rob Ianello for his work with that corps, but I am looking at Notre Dame retread #2, Ron Powlus for his work with our QBs. Also looking at Weis, of course, and his system.

You have to know how to catch, but even if the pass gets in the area, hell even if it hits you in the numbers, it has to be a “catchable” pass. i.e. timed correctly etc. I don’t know what it is but it can’t be that we just recruited a bunch of guys who can’t catch a pass. There is something else at play, and I think this Reagan hire is a huge step in the right direction.

      Word for word.

This is coming along much faster than I could have imagined. I think approxinfinity is becoming a Jayhawk legend right before our eyes.

      Wonder if anybody played defense…

A three sentence article by Gary Bedore. Bravo, Gary! Something tells me the staff could’ve handled this one. : )

Yeah, this sucks. Good for CU, though. They finally got smart and hired a former KU basketball player to coach them out of the cellar.

Silencing a 90+% CU crowd with a blowout, would go a long way towards thwarting this kind of turnout in the future.

    • RE: The Rules For A Safe Ice Bucket Challenge...

If you see the condition of my buddy, you’ll take a bucket of ice water all day to help end ALS. Our whole family has done it. It’s not too bad really. At least it’s summer…

Besides I don’t think it would’ve taken off if it was the Tepid Water Challenge. Who wants to watch that?

    • RE: Opinion: For Weis, cover-up worse than punt fake

I don’t know. I just think it’s the way the guy talks. He’s telling the truth isn’t he? He was an idiot for the fake punt play. The players made a bad play in the 3rd quarter. Blame all around.

Just because he doesn’t spin soft cliches to protect the fragile egos of his players doesn’t mean they don’t deserve some blame.

When Bill Self says something like this it’s no big deal.

Bums me out about Pierson, but the fact that he was getting dizzy before he even got hit is sort of terrifying. Hopefully they have a crack squad of specialists all over that noggin.

Can’t wait to see Heeney chasing down ball carriers. Oh, wait. I won’t get to see it !! Filth, flarn, filth !!
