@KUSTEVE The full court press works best against team with average or poor PG such as those in the smaller conferences The major conferences tend to have quality PGs and the 40 minutes of hell does not work as well unless they are caught unprepared. There is a reason you just don’t see that in the NBA, the PGS are just too good. Smart will have to come up with a new gimmick.

After signing Diallo the big light bulb went off in the sports media world that Kansas is likely to repeat. Too bad. It helps us more to have them question our ability to repeat and let our players think they may be the team to blow the streak. I’m also thinking we lost our 1-year “sleeper status” in March. Back to the bright lights.

@VoyagingJayhawk I was only referring to the liberal press who are already beating the drum that he’s suffered enough while he was supposedly caged for 5 years and had forgotten how to speak English. I agree with you that we need respectable men and women (at least some with veteran status) back in Washington serving us, the citizens of the US. Term limits and realizing that Congress was supposed to be a “part-time” job and not something you retire from. But, we the people, are the ones who created the mess.

I’ve always been careful about that. I had a working vacation set-up in Alaska years ago and flew my father in to Anchorage to meet us. As it happened Mario Chalmers was on the flight with him returning from a KU recruiting trip. Dad pointed him out to me in the baggage claim and we thought about speaking to him. I wasn’t clear on the rules (I am a WEF member) and decided not to. I’ve since looked into it because my kids are friends with some top athletes. It turns out if you’ve known them for years as in family friend there is no problem. But I can’t approach someone I barely know and put a good word in for KU.

@justanotherfan After reading your post I checked into the SWC history and learned Houston was Johnny come lately-joining them in the 70’s. I also think their own conference partners must have not valued them much during the next alignment as their were two groups formed, U of H was not part of either and went another direction by themselves. As for TCU, they were playing musical chairs time and time again. They are lucky to end up in the Big 12.

This has nothing to do with KU recruiting but about a week or so ago I was listening to XM College Sports Nation and I want to say it was the Chris Childers show w/ Greg McElroy. Anyways they were talking about how bad the ranking system are. They said what the ranking system in football really breaks down to is this: 5star guys are NFL locks, guys that scouting services are pretty certain will be playing on Sundays. 4star guys are those that scouts think are All-Conference players. And the 3star guys are starters on the their team. 2star guys are 2deep, for depth. McElroy also said that just because a guy is a 3 star doesn’t mean they aren’t or can’t be great. He, Sam Bradford, Christian Ponder, Colin Kaepernick and Andy Dalton were all 3 star guys in '06.

I love that Svi is already the Roy Hobbs of KU practices. “Doesn’t miss”. “Automatic.” “I assume everything is going in.” “Didn’t miss in warmup.” If this can somehow translate into games…let’s say in mid March, that would be a thing of beauty.

That’s crazy about the kid taking others ACTs. I can’t recall the protocol for when I took the ACT wayyyyy back in the day but when I took my boards 7 or so years ago they didn’t mess around. Just short of DNA testing to prove my identity
