@Crimsonorblue22 speaking of BIFM i thought this quote was pretty funny "The 6-foot-7, 230-pound Bridges stared down a good eight inches into Mason’s eyes. KU’s uncompromising, 185-pound leader didn’t as much as blink — almost as if to say, “Bridges, I’m Frank Mason.”

New writer in town
Totally random and didn’t have a place for this but I just got asked by FanSided to be a writer for their locals division website kckingdom.com providing analysis and opinions on Chiefs, Royals, Sporting KC, and last but not least our beloved Jayhawks. Anyone have any ideas or topics they’d like to see discussed?
Thanks all in advance for the suggestions.

RE: Ten Random thoughts on Siena
Thought this was a nice quote from the Siena coach
“I did an interview before the game and said Lagerald Vick was my favorite player. That’s my kind of guy. He does a lot of dirty work. Unfortunately I was correct. Looks like you (KU) are going to have another run at the national championship."

RE: Udunka Very Mucho
Definitely where i thought we’d be. We have to get better shooting FT’s though. There’s going to be a game come conference time or one of the tourney’s in March and we are going to live or die by our FT %

RE: BIPOY and the Hawks vs Donkeys Game Thread
I love that we our keeping our feet on the gas all the way through. When was the last time we played a complete game? 40 mins of hard fast basketball, gotta love it.
-
RE: KU Players Leaving/Staying Tracker
@Crimsonorblue22 that’s what pisses me off most about that game. everybody let Frank down. If there was ever a college kid that deserved to go to a FF4 more than anyone else Frank is that kid. He’s everything you want from a Jayhawk.

RE: Wolves give Wiggin’s $148,000,000
Two Jayhawks getting huge numbers thrown at them back to back days, love it!!!
Also,

RE: KU vs Holy Cross game chat
this team will be the highest scoring team Bill has ever coached here. When we really want it we can score at will. Happy to see the FT numbers tonight! I knew we could hit them, glad they are showing it.

RE: If another KU player clangs a dunk off the rim I'll.........
@wissoxfan83 the next time a KU player clangs a dunk off the rim I’ll let my wife buy me an MU t-shirt. (for the love of god please no one clang another dunk!) How’s that one?
-
RE: 3 UCLA players arrested in China
Seriously how stupid and juvenile can you be??? I get they are juveniles but still. Especially for Ball like your brother is in the NBA and you gotta steal something? That whole family is a bunch of clowns.

RE: If another KU player clangs a dunk off the rim I'll.........
@Crimsonorblue22 This will never happen!! If she ever bought me one I’d burn it right in front of her! (She is a good sport and wears KU clothing that I buy her) I’m going to the UK-MU game in Columbia next week and I fully plan on wearing my Muck Fizzou shirt.
-
RE: The LongHorn game says it all
@VailHawk Can you imagine how lethal we would have been last year if we had the desire that we do this year? Even with JoJo injured if Wiggs wasn’t protecting the brand and the rest of the team flat out had desire we’d have been damn scary last year.

RE: DEVONTE STARTING TO MATCH FRANK.
I like what I’m seeing out of Graham. He is a throwback Bill signing. The type of kid that is in the middle of the pack that he coaches up and gets them o play at a 5 star level. That’s not to discount our one and done guys but guys like Graham, Ellis, TRob, Withey, Releford, etc will always mean more to me because of their length of time in LFK.
-
RE: What's Wrong with this Picture?
I know our young guys need experience but i agree with the decision to let Mari play. He earned those mins last night. He gave us a spark and energy that no one else was giving last night. I do think Cheick should be eating whatever mins LL is getting though.

RE: KU vs LBSU
I have some pretty solid seats for this game wish I could upload the picture but the file is too big. Center 7 section!
-
RE: What would you give Bill Self for Christmas?
@wissox i second that notion. But i’d also trade that can for a can in the championship game on whatever unlucky victim we face.
-
RE: New writer in town
@RockChalkinTexas I would love to get in on some behind the scenes stuff. I don’t know how much access they will grant me since i’m in an unpaid position for now but you guys are hitting me with some great ideas and stuff that I would really love to pursue. Humanize the program and teams a little more. Great news about Scooter. I bet he’d be really fun to sit down with and pick his brain about the team and his health. I think visiting different Big 12 arenas and doing pieces on their stadiums and the KU bars in those cities would be fun too.
-
RE: Josh Jackson deserves some defensive props vs Baylor
Dude is a stud. Best one and done we’ve had the pleasure of watching. The website i write for asked me to make an article ranking KU’s one and done players and he will definitely be at the top of that list.

RE: Dg. Self said no worry wont miss any games
The only team in my eyes that we can “share” with is WVU since we split the games. If we tie with Baylor it’s not a share in my eyes since we beat them twice same with KSUcks in 2013. IF we beat you both times we play you I don’t see how anyone could reasonably call that a share. They need to change that silly ass rule
-
RE: Dg. Self said no worry wont miss any games
@JayHawkFanToo I’m not even factoring in seeding or home advantages i’m just talking about in name only. If i beat you head to head twice I didn’t share shit with you. We’ll have to agree to disagree otherwise we’ll spend all day going back in forth instead of what really matters this week. B Rush being immortalized in the Fieldhouse.

I’m pulling for the Celtics. It’s hard to root against a guy like Isaiah Thomas and his game gives me hope for Frank finding a home in the league.

RE: What's Your Biggest NCAA Worry/Concern/Fear?
@drgnslayr Thanks for the compliment! I’m a long time reader but haven’t been posting for long. I can only help to catch up with the brilliance and insight posted on this site.
The Texas game blew me a way and showed me that when these guys realzie their potential there is no one in CBB that could stop them. The Texas game @ AFH was our best BPI performance of the season and coincendtally the game @ Austin was our worst BPI performance. I, like you am skeptical that they can maintain that motivation throughout the rest of the season and the BIG12 tourney. I think it might actually do the fellas some good to lose in the BIG12 tourney and build back up a head of steam to go into the big dance with a chip on their shoulders. In order to be effective we have to have a Naadir Tharpe that’s fully focused and engaged like he was against Texas. That was his best defensive game. If he cou;ld put together a defensive effort like he did against Texas and a will kill close out mentality like he did against OU in the final ten mins we will be unstoppable. He made some boneheaded mistakes at the end of the Tech game last week and we can’t have thos ein the tournament.
I think Tarik “Black Death” will have these guys ready to play. He’s only been here a year but he has the respect of that locker room and everything I read about him says he’s a great leader. I think his best is yet to come and that’s after seeing him own Ridley on Saturday. Our guys seem to play big in the biggest moments and while they have been inconsistent and that is my deepest fear of this team, when the chips are down I think they will shine. If someone is hot they need to just keep feeding that person and whoever is hot needs to own it and keep going. I loved seeing the fire from Wayne when he got in Conner’s face for not taking an open 3. These guys need to trust themselves and thier abilities.
Regarding WSU I think we would win that game. HCBS has mentioned time and time again how prideful these guys are. Look at what they ddi to Texas after losing to them. These guys are most new and when we thumped KSU @ home they were all talking about what it meant to beat them and how this was “our” state. They won’t let WSU have bragging rights and if we get KSU in the BIG12 tourney they are in for amud stomping for which i’'ll be in attendance. I don’t think HCBS will og 0-3 agaisnt the MVC, but you’re right if he did it would def be in a lot of peoples heads. Lets hope that nightmare doesn’t coem to fruition though. I like your dream mode a lot better!
Rock Chalk!

RE: Who are the blue blood teams to you?
@DanR I think that’s a good measuring stick to start with! How about this raise your hand if the inventor of the game coached at your school? OK everyone else sit down

RE: Have Faith
Let’s look at it like this, we were all happy and thinkning this team could go far in the tourney before the season started and that was before we knew how much improvement Jo would make. We knew he would be special eventually, but lets be realistic. Did anyone see it hapening this quickly? Probably not. Now that we don’t happen a lot of people over on the other site want to jump ship. That’s not what real Jayhawks do. This team can go as far as Tarik, Tharpe, and Wiggs want to take them. We know Andrew has the ability to take a game over. We just witnessed that, 96 hours ago. We witness what Tarik can do on Senior night. We saw that Tharpe can guard against UT and we saw he can close a game out against OU two nights later. This team can still win. If we get Jo back, fine that’s all well and good but we can still make a deep run without him. This team needs to find that inner will or testicular fortitude if you will. They have to. There is no other option.

RE: Time For Toughening...
@drgnslayr Well lets hope if he’s channeling his inner EJ he puts forth an effort like EJ did a couple years ago, though that’s hard to do because that was one of the best performances by a Jayhawk I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching.
-
RE: If another KU player clangs a dunk off the rim I'll.........
@dylans You can watch the games on your computer from ESPN3 if you live inside the KC Metro area and don’t have TWC. You just have to use a program that makes your IP address look like its coming from a different city
-
RE: Just something I noticed
@DoubleDD It seems like Wayne constantly gets mugged and doesn’t get calls which may be leading to his lack of confidence at the rim and finishing.
-
RE: Sometimes Your Real Opponent Is the Schedule
@JayHawkFanToo I watched both of those games last night. The KSU game was a slop fest from start to finish, all of the turnovers and fouls almost made it unwatchable. I think we should press KSU on Saturday they can easily be forced into some mistakes. I agree with your assessment that the losers of the OU-OSU and Texas-Baylor games are done title wise. If we keep playing with the same confidence we’ve been playing with I see no reason why we won’t be sitting at 8-1 and thus putting some distance between us and the field. We have to take care of business tonight we cant afford to look past TCU, they are a decent squad with a good coach and should have knocked off WVU. That foul call was questionable but before that they let WVU get off and unguarded 3 that was drilled. They will either be very hungry after a loss like that or come out deflated because they let one get away, either way we need to be on our toes.

RE: Why KU is more impressive than Virginia or UK (Link)
@Kubie Well played, I got a pretty good chuckle out of the Ouija Board comment.
-
RE: What to expect tonight....
I think we win 85-70. Why? Our guys want revenge Kelly said “we owe them” I think this game will be similar to when we lost to Texas last year and then came back and smack them in the mouth when they came to Allen for the rematch. I know our games with ISU have been close lately and they are a worthy opponent, I just think our guys will want this game and we have the talent to take it handily.

Paul Pierce is the reason I fell in love with KU basketball as an impressionable youngster in elementary. The Truth!!!

Nic Moore from SMU to join us for the WUG
http://www.kuathletics.com/news/2015/5/21/MBB_0521150454.aspx
Not sure if any of you had seen this yet. When I first read it I thought it was interesting that we weren’t choosing someone from the Big 12 but then thought that it makes sense because why would we want to help someone form our competition get better.
-
RE: Isn't Chukwu supposed to be visiting like right now ??
@JayHawkFanToo So let met get this straight growing up in KC which is a heck of a lot closer to KU than MU, I couldn’t get In-State tuition but a person who isn’t even a citizen of this country can get in state tuition? What a load of crap!
-
RE: Poor Embiid
@dylans That’s the perfect way of putting it. Robbed. That’s exactly how I feel. It would have been special to watch him and I hold out hope that we will be able to see him live up to his potential.

RE: THE WORD IS OUT: SELF STILL AT .821 AT KANSAS
@JRyman that was my complaint the entire MSU game, Both Perry and LL had some balls roll off the rim that should have been dunked.

RE: Is Bill Self insane?
@drgnslayr I haven’t rewatched Game 5 in it’s entirety yet. I was out at power and light during the game. I’m going tot he World Series Film premier on Monday but I was at every post season game at Kauffman this year. What an experience. Hosmer dashing home on that ground out was certifiably insane but because they were aggressive and took chances, their names will forever be etched in history. I don’t think I’ve ever seen some many grown men openly weeping at bars. I wouldn’t limit it to just bars if I hadn’t been in the stands during the would card game last year and saw many more people openly weeping tears of joy. The boys got us all the way to KUbball season. Heck I even went to game 2 of the ALDS and then drove straight from there to Lawrence for Late Night. I’ve watched the 8th inning of Game 6 of the ALCS quite a bit and the 9th. What Wade did in the game is inhuman. That kind of grit can’t be taught and we may never see it again in our lifetimes. This team could definitely take some lessons from the Royals on what it means to fight until the very end.

My buddy said that over on Jayhawk slant one of the mods over there said it was for getting mouthy with Self over his PT
