Self needs to cut it to 7 rotation players. Dotson, Garrett, Ochai, Vick and Dedric start and only Grimes, David play off the bench. We all love Mitch and rightfully so but he just cant cut it, him and KJ likely aren’t D1 level of players. Moore just isn’t capable of coming in cold and doing much, sad truths IMO. The post Defense isn’t getting any better unless Big David learns right now. Work like crazy on defense, rebounding and perimeter shots til March.

KU wore 2008 throwbacks and since KU wore blue in that 2008 title game, that’s why they wore blue on Saturday. Also, home teams are allowed to choose which color uniform they wear.

@Gunman How about David Padgett? How about him? He was a good player recruited by Williams who stayed one year but wanted to play a style different than what Coach Self wanted. He left the program in good terms and never was in any trouble at KU and did well at Lousville…so, how about him? P.S. He scored the winning basket against MU at the last game at Hearnes Center, that alone makes him gold in my book.

I still think Svi will earn back his starting spot. We are going to need the extra height he brings over Vick. Anyone else think it will be Doke, Preston, Svi, Newman and Graham starting on Oct. 31 against Pittsburg St.? Doke must stay healthy and find his FT touch for us to go the distance. You can see he’s working on finding a FT form that works for him. In the second Ex. game he moved off-center at the FT line. So, he’s trying some things out. I hope he shoots about a million FTs in the next 3 months. I sure like Marcus Garrett’s energy. He’ll be a great energy guy off the bench like Vick has been doing for us. RCJH

Self currently has 32 offers extended in the 2018 class. 30 if we subtract the two who already committed to schools. We know he can’t sign all 30, he won’t even get 3-4 from the looks of it. Best bets so far are Grimes and Dotson based on how much early recruiting the staff has done with those. Likely to get 1 of them if we are lucky after getting Charlie Moore. Definitely need bigs and a top SF would be another need.
