RE: ISU and the Risk of More Inside Out
What great posts and a great Big 12 race this is shaping up to be. Baylor holding on to win vs ISU was large at this point in the season. The pressure to win Saturday night now sits squarely on the Cyclones. KU with a win becomes the front-runner similar to last year. A loss and we are still in the thick of the race.
Going 2-3 at ISU, Baylor, OU, Texas and WV gives KU a very likely upper hand in winning 11 in a row.-we already have 1 in the bag. All contenders must take care of business at KSU, at OSU and at TCU-not an easy task. KU has a very good chance of taking care of wins at home. It is so early but with a RPI rating of the Big 12-4 losses could easily mean a championship or co-champ to keep the streak alive.
This conference is tough and so is Bill Self’s team. I have not seen this toughness in a few years. Self teams that have done well are tough, grind out games on the road and play great defense. Since the break, this team has improved dramatically on the defensive end holding UNLV to 40%, Baylor to 35% at home and OSU in the low 30s.
I agree with REhawk-the conference titles are more important than March to me as a fan. National champs require great teams and some luck. This team could make a deep run if Cliff continues to improve but next year we could be in the title discussion.

RE: Notes From Baylor: "Kansas... because we know how to win!"
Great point drgslyr on Pomeroy’s rankings and our defense. Self has said that this could be a great defensive team and I believe that. Just look at the past several games and what we have held teams to-good teams at that. We hold UNLV to 40% and Baylor to 35%-both are good offensive teams.
The Big 12 race will have a lot of games across the board played in the 50s. Games in the 80s will be rare in conference play. KU knows how to win these games and if we can continue to pressure and run, we can score enough to win. Add in the toughness factor of this team and the improvement of key players-it will be another entertaining year.
It has been a great week for KU fans. We win at Baylor holding the home team to 35% FG, have 19 assists against 8 TOs against a team ranked very high in the steal/TO category nationally. We then add Bragg and get news that Graham may be back soon.
Does anyone know if Bragg and other recruits will get to play with the team next summer?

RE: Can We Win Another Big 12 Championship?
Can we win 11 in a row? Absolutely but it will not be easy as has been the case with the previous 10. We have had years in this stretch where we needed help from the likes of Texas A&M or Tech to upset teams in front of us. Coach Self seems to have that knack of ‘taking care of business’. On the flip side, these other teams are not used to being the ‘hunted’.
Texas showed last night that they could perform the way OSU did last year. It was this time last year we had just lost at home to SDSU and OSU looked un-stoppable playing a softer schedule. We then started the quest winning at OU-an arena KU has always done well in.
Coach Self will have this team clawing and playing ‘tough’ all year long. This current team will be frustrating at times but their toughness will be what wins out as the season rolls on.
Winning at Baylor is not critical in the long haul but a W would give this young team some confidence. It will be hard to win this title for any team that loses at home. OU, WV, ISU and Texas will be difficult road games. If KU can win road games at KSU, OSU, TCU and Tech and go 2-3 against the other five, I like our chances.

RE: Unexpected KU Precedents Continue Against Kent State
It was a true joy to find all of you again. After reading the alternative KU posts, someone was kind enough to let us know that there is a great site with great fans. It is a joy to read you guys again.
Bill Self is not on the ‘back nine’. Last year at this time, we were all worried about OSU and how well they were playing. KU loses to Villanova, gets destroyed by Florida and loses at home to SDS. KU then goes on a run-and wins on the road key Big 12 games and the title is in site again.
This title will be difficult-most have been. Texas has the perfect team to give us fits. ISU is solid and OU will be tough. One simply has to go back and see how Bill Self has fared against each of those coaches and teams. Hoiberg has the best case against KU. I would take Self vs Barnes any game-anywhere.
I watched KU beat Florida in Vegas with Julian Wright. That was a young team. All came back except Julian and we know the rest of the story. Enjoy this year and hope that we can keep the streak alive. Next year is shaping up to be one of Bill Self’s best teams.
