Watching KU basketball this time of year can only be described as one thing…Christmas in July!

Bill Self has asked his team to sign a sportsmanship pledge prior to the start of the season; it states that all road games that should be won easily will, thus preventing court storming and other non-sense, when we beat Kentucky we will act like its no big deal and that we will state we weren’t running up the score when asked by the media, the game at k-state we will try to win by only 5 points so Weber can keep his job (same at Baylor) but if its too obivious we will win by 50 deal with the fallout.

All members must sign this pledge prior to the start of the season.

I think the answer to your question is they regret it and it will be confirmed when they let Love go to free agency.

Cant imagine a team with LBJ and Wiggins losing to anyone, but I’m a little bias towards Jayhawks.

As brutal as it is for us, other teams have to add us on their schedule twice!

Was hoping the football team winning the first couple of games or the Royals clinching the division would distract me from this, but its been on my mind.

My sacrafice is watching the mentioned games on my 18" computer screen with comercials instead of being able to watch them on my 60" man cave tv…what really makes me mad is the whole 5 year deal was only like 5-6 million I think. Seems like someone could have started a kickstart or whatever they are called and raised that much, using the right to watch KU games (9 + 1 football) as the hostage.

That deal really makes me mad when I think about it. At least I have a place to come and complain about it or listen to others moan, I know im not alone!

We prob wont have to worry too much about the shot clock if he is on the court!

With all of our weapons and depth we could really run teams out of the building, they may counter with zone, but we could counter with 3 ball and Perry form the short corner

CD is the only thing missing so far, but its a long season till March

@HawkInMizery I guess I’m in the boat of rewarding/developing is more important than winning. Not that I dont want to win, but I put developing and rewarding our players above winning. My worry would be bringing in 1-2 “outsiders” and that being an issue with how we develope as a unit. Plus, was hoping to see how Evan/Christian/Pollard would compete.

Pretty sweet when an All American is the 4th/5th big off the bench. I hope love the attitude he brings, something we have been missing the last few years; Wayne seems to be showing it a little in the WUG. I am also happy to see Bragg/Jamari/Hunter dive for loose balls, I love when players will sacrifice themselves.

@Statmachine Would have been great to beat okie state and amazing to have got TCU, but then maybe HCDB wouldnt be here.

Really hoping we can get one suprise victory, a couple bounces go our way and a team thinks just showing up will get the win. Going to be tough but one upset would be helpful to build on. Problem is any victory after week one is an upset.

Im going to try and enjoy watching the team this year and not put an expectation on the tournament. I hope this is Wayne, Svi and Mason’s last year as winning a National Championship skyrockets their stock, but I am going to try and enjoy watching them grow as a team than I have in the past.

@Crimsonorblue22 I take it as Selden was in on it, since he gets out of there without really looking. The stunt would have been funnier if it was Tyler dunking on him also…but maybe I need to let these kids have fun and not think of what could have been. There is a lot of season before March and we or any team is one injury away from going down the drain. I love our team (established guys back, not all newbies) and what happen in Korea gives me more hope, but I would say we are about a 7-15 ranking overall and I think that OU and ISU will really push us for the BigXII.

Until we reach the Final Four I will look at our team’s flaws and say no they cant, I do this because I think that is what this team needs. I think Wayne and Frank our going use it as fuel!

I feel like our whole season depends on this ruling, I know it doesn’t but if feels like the difference between a sweet 16 ceiling and no ceiling for our season…

This mess is the result of the previous coaches/current AD. I believe in Beaty, it may be 3-4 years for the wins to follow, but the on feild product is actually better than in years past.

If we could have this years’s offense with last years defense we might be bowling (really makes you miss Ben flying around and a secondary that was above average)

@drgnslayr We have to be paitent, even though we have the last 7 years. This mess will take 3-4 years to get out of, there is no quick fix and we play in a tough conference. Please dont talk about getting rid of the football team, even in jest it hurts to read. We will get better, hopefully we can pull off an upset or two this year, but really we are in rebuilding mode. We probably should have won week one, but the team is about what it should be with all the players we lost, lost off a 3-9 team.

I think Johnny comes alive tonight and puts it together. The crowd is going to will him into a great performance. I think by the 6th inning when he does his little shoulder shake we will all just be able to sit back and enjoy “Johnny being Johnny”

Bragg- I just wonder how much he will play, as Perry’s back up he would really get around 10 mins per game. But if Perry and Chiek are the starters and you have 3 other experienced guys in the mix for playing time also, how many mins will he get? I think it will be interesting to see. If he is a candidate for early departure, then something special happens! Just crazy but could be a McD AA who only gets about 5-10 mins a game depending on foul trouble. Next year should be a starter, but this year I just don’t see him playing too much.

I would say it is an 8. Like others said we addressed needs, and that is more important than rankings in my opinion. If we miss on CD and he goes to ISU or St. John’s we are looking at this class as maybe a 5? 6 at best? Bragg is going to be special, hoping this year, but expecting next year; but he isnt the style of big we needed. (Side note we could have out Iowa Stated Iowa State with a combination of Frank, Graham, Svi, Greene, Bragg and Perry on the floor! )

I think we got what we needed a power 5 that plays with energy and then 3 guys that have high ceilings. Vick and Bragg should push Wayne and Traylor for PT and that is a great thing. Seems like this is a great year for the WUG, we will get to see guys compete early. To me it jump starts the starting 5 arc we always talk about, who starts in November may not start in Feburary. This year maybe a Bragg or Vick becomes a 6th or 7th man because of how well they played in the WUG…

@Crimsonorblue22 Im happy the way it worked out, he needs to be “the man” for his team. But I think a couple of years of watching/learning from Lebron may have been better than growing on his own in Minn, but really not sure which path is best for him or any young player for that manner.

I like to think that the trade (lebron probably ordered) lead to the cavs losing in the finals, cleveland is already cursed sports wise, but the #Wigginscurse could be remembered when Wigs is the MVP every year.

On a side note the cavs took Bennet over Noel and BMac, then traded him also for Love.

I respectfully disagree with you, Wilt is the greatest basketball player of all time. Maybe not the best winner, but he made them change the rules of basketball.

I use to watch the 08 DVD after every tourney loss, but after doing that ithas now turned into a bad thing to watch it.

@BeddieKU23 Every hour or so I come to this website hoping to see a new topic of “Diallo cleared to play” yet nothing so far…A title this year would erase all the bad memories as you said. This is year 8 since that title team (feels like yesterday to me).

I dont mind us being a one seed at the end of the year, but I kind of hope there is an undefeated team out there in March that everyone else is talking about. I dont really like being the favorite in college basketball, I like to be the realative underdog (4-8 overall)

I always thought this was our best shot at a title about 3 years ago. Whats odd is half the team I expected leading us is no longer here.

Figured Connor F would be a scoring PG, Andrew White would be a major factor and Embiid would finally put it together in year 3 (going from a “project” to a dominating force). And Wayne would be in the NBA.

@drgnslayr I was under the understanding that the football team actually made money. Around 14 mil a year?

If, big if, we can turn the ship and just get a couple wins this year or next year and compete in 60% of the games come year three, the stands will fill up slightly. We go bowling, the stands will hit that 40k-45k number.

I really hope you are all joking about cutting a program. I know its in the basement, well, burried benath where a basement should be, but…I think we are going to get out of this hole. This is the move for a head coach we should have made in 09, now the rebuild is tougher and will take longer (Charlie/Gill).

I guess I also dont see how the basketball team is so negativly hurt? new dorms, highest travel budget for recurits in the nation, new rules building, etc
