    • RE: Vaccine

      @stoptheflop said in Vaccine:

Yes, Kansas is close to the worst in making the vaccine available. All our family members who live in other states, Texas, Florida, New York and California have been vaccinated, even though they are 10 and 20 years younger than my wife and I. Very frustrating. My brother in law in Texas is in his 50’s and was able to get it because he smokes. Sister in law in Florida in her early 50’s was eligible because she has a Cpap. 64 and healthy, so I’m waiting. Kansas just didn’t seem to get very many doses in January and February. But, its really starting to open up here too.

I know it seems like a long time still, but 2 months from now, vaccines are going to be as readily available as the flu shot. Entirely dependent of course as to which vaccine you want. If you want the Moderna or Pfizer one it could be a little bit but if you don’t mind the johnson and Johnson, there is a huge stockpile in maryland with mass manufacturing ongoing. I’m building a facility for emergent biosolutions thats scheduled to be completed in late july. Working 2 shifts, 7 days a week as part of Trumps operation warp speed initiative. Emergent is looking to have a couple billion, yes billion, doses of the j&j vaccine by years end and they are releasing the vaccine as completed.

We’re close. We’re real close to the medical side being all resolved. We coped for 12 months, but this will soon end. just stay steady friends.

I go caught in a Jayhawk internet rabbit hole this morning and saw where Andrew White III scored 37 in his debut. I started getting curious how some past Jayhawks were doing so I looked it up. Just merely posting here if any of you were a bit curious too. These are all the stats of this morning:

    • RE: Full Schedule Released

@Texas-Hawk-10 You also forgot about the following:

      3/15 - beating some 16 seeded jokers by 40 @ Wichita

3/17- 15 point win by beating some underachieving 8 seed but has the talent to be 3 seed and the tourney clan tries to screw KU in the hopes of setting up a Kentucky vs. Duke Final Four @ Wichita

3/23- 14 point win over power 5 conference regular season champion but lost in their conference tournament. Foe is too scary to put to the likes of Duke and UK. @ Wichita

3/25 - 8 point win over number 4 seed in the tournament. Figuring the best way to eliminate the competition. This will either be Arizona or Michigan St. @ Wichita

3/31 - 10 point win over Kentucky. Tournament roundup is assuming that if KU would get thru, Calipari would be best to get a second chance at the team that beat them. This is similar to the UK/UCLA methodology last year. @ San Antonio

4/2 - 9 point win over Duke. Grayson Allen and this loaded team shoots poorly from the floor against the KU defense and KU merely presses on for another Rock Chalk 2xx8 championship @ San Antonio

I think ol Bartenderchic mama was slightly misinformed. Billy preston first game…6 minutes, 3 fouls, 2 points, 1/3 shooting, 1 stael, 1 rebound. I don’t have stats from 2000 years ago, but I’m pretty sure jesus Christ had a better debut.

The 1997 team was by far the best team KU had in “recent” memory. Just ran into a hot Bibby and Simon which is pretty common in the NCAA tourney. 97 was loaded; unfortunately, Billy Thomas is still chucking up 3’s that are bangin off the back of the rim. Pollard and Haase had something incredibly low like 2 shots combined and 0 points between them if memory serves me right. I’m too bitter about the game to look up the real stats. My KU - PTSD gets triggered quite quickly if I look at that.

    • 2019 summer league

For all you kids that don’t stay up and enjoy the summer league as much as I do…Here’s a snippet of how our beloved Jayhawks did (as always…Once a Jayhawk…always a Jayhawk):

      7/1/19:

      Dedric didn’t play

      Frank didn’t play

      TRob: 15min 8pts 2/3field 0/1 3’s, 4/6 FT 3 reb +3 +/-

      Malik hustled offensively…constantly beat defensively: 16min 16pts, 7/11field, 2/5 3’s, 0/1FT, 1 board -16 +/- (his +/- wasn’t all on him however. Cleveland is terrible.)

      Frankamp didn’t play

      I’m aware that this is a stretch for Jayhawk inclusion…but… Milton Doyle played 12 min 2pts 0/2 field, 0/0 3’s, 2/2 FT -2 +/-

With all the transfers, NIL, covid, and no fans this year, I almost gave up on college basketball…but now just like every year, I watch one shining moment, get pissed cause another season is over and now I’m all in again. I can’t wait till October to see the boys in blue suit up for “midnight” madness. I’ll convince myself that no matter the rankings, KU is the best team in the conference and probably the nation…at worst 3rd in the nation. I’ll endure the early losses with hopeful bliss that we just need to get past the Christmas break and HCBS will have this team turned around. We’ll go undefeated from mid Jan to March. Lose in the 2nd round of the big 12 tournament. Then I’ll fill out a bracket with KU on the winning line with a final score of 72 to 65 and hope for a 2021 Houston draw where we don’t play anybody till the final four.

      2017 - UNC - (Ga Tech #77)

      2016 - Villanova - (Seton Hall #29)

I do concede that I’m a homer. If he said KU instead of OU, I’d be fist fighting people who pointed out his flaws; but, he didn’t so I cheer for him to continue jacking them up at a 35-ish% clip, cry to the media that it’s unfair that people scout him, and to continue dribbling with his left hand because it’s an 80% chance for a turnover.

Soooo…while I to miss the ramblings of one Jaybate, I will concede that after more than 30 years of being a Jayhawks fan, this year has taken a toll on me. I’m fully expecting a probation ruling next season and all the fixins associated with it including limited recruiting trips, scholarships…blah, blah, blah. I’m also fully expecting 2017-18 season to be erased from the books. So that was my rock bottom…no big deal. I’ll root for these kids, wish nothing but the best for them and continue to hate Weber, Shaka, Big Dixon, Huggs, Prohm, Drew, Boynton, Beard and Marsha (just because. I like Kruger, so I’ll always root for that guy unless he’s facing the Jayhawks) …until now. Until I read what I’m praying to the good lord in heaven is merely click bait…

I’m not worried about auburn. We have a good path…

      Northeastern.- 15 point win

rematch with New Mexico State: 10 point win

Fighting Roy’s: KU steals every pass like in 2008. Jump out to 30 point lead. squeak by with 5 point win.

Iowa State: Revenge game with a 20 point win

UVA: cold shooting night from UVA. win 58-55

Duke: play 2/3 zone. watch zion get 25…rest of duke shoots 2 - 40 from 3. win by 15

ESPN bitches KU got home court advantage and 2/3 zones vs and inept 3 point shooting duke team is illegal. Forces NCAA to have sanctions on KU not for amateur violations…but just because they didn’t get their happy ending.

I love that he’s beefed up and lost what looks like another 20 pounds. I just wish he would throw it down with 2 hands more often. These are merely petty criticisms though. • RE: Is this current KU team special?

Is this team special? They are the effin Kansas Jayhawks!!! Of course they’re special. For the 35th year in a row (I started following college ball when I was 6) I start every season…every game for that matter, with the same Coach Dale quote: “My team is on the floor”. I firmly believed KU would win the national championship the previous 34 seasons and this year I’m just as excited as any of the others. I’m a complete homer on this though. If KU trotted out Matt Kleinmann, Nick Bahe, Tyler Self, Chase Buford, and Brennan Bechard against 2012 Kentucky…I would still like my chances.

Now saying that…I’m not a Doke fan like everybody else seems to be. He’s a complete downgrade from Landon. Landon couldn’t make a bunny…but what he did do was set a perfect blockout for about 80% of all of Mason’s drives. He cleared the lane, he knew where to be on the court, and knew where to pass the ball in the sets. He was a 4 year player of course and took him until the 4th year to get it together. Doke gasses out early, can’t shoot free throws, an inconsistent lay-up / hook shot, and travels 85% of the time if he dribbles on the block. He traveled quite a bit against pitt state, but the refs were waiting for the foul on him to occur and watched for that more. He’s not terrible of course and played good defense and denied several entry passes forcing Pitt state to pass the ball around more. He looks like he knows the offense pretty good, thus, with the guards we got, he will get several opportunities to excel.

He is the only “weak” link with this team. I would take anybody on KU’s roster over any other roster in the country. Get excited for this team folks…they’ll be fun. Exhausting and frustrating at times? Yes. But they’ll be good and will battle.

For what it’s worth however, I would love to see Vick play all 40 minutes every game. I love that dude. My favorite player since B-Rush.

    • RE: Self's Worst Team at KU

Lot’s of people jumping off the bandwagon today. It’s a loss…live and learn. The team will prevail. The streak will end sometime. Maybe this year…maybe not. One year, the NCAA will proceed without a mention of the Jayhawks and they will host an NIT game. It will happen. Maybe this year…maybe not. Will this KU team shoot 12 3’s in the second half of a close game and miss all 12 again. Highly doubtful.

There is a silver lining in the loss. The team learned to drive the ball and proved they can score. The previous 13 games had the same 3 options on offense every time:

      1. weave, drive, dish back out for a 3…shoot, make/miss get back on D

      2. drive left, pass to top of key, fake right, pass left…drop down low to Doke…dunk, or hook shot…get back on D.

      3. Top of key…come in from corner for lob, or drive and throw up for lob.

Last night proved they can drive. Last night proved they will drive. This drive to the basket will continue moving forward. When the 3 is falling…of course make it rain. When it’s not, the dribble drive will allow for defensive breakdowns for offensive boards. There is hope. I believe it. I believe we will get Preston back for the home game against K-State. I believe we will go 13-5 in the Big 12. I believe we will beat Texas A&M. I believe we will make it to the second weekend of the tournament as a 4 see and will battle Duke on March 22 in Atlanta. This may be the worst team Bill Self has had in his KU era…but it’s still pretty good.

@BShark Self isn’t crazy…but if Devonte or Svi launch 35 footers…they’re sitting on the bench. Trae won’t shoot from the line, he will only shoot from 10 feet beyond the line because that’s what gets him attention and also because he can’t free himself for an open jump shot.

If the refs called his swim move every time he drove…he would only be allowed to play 5 minutes a game. When he passes the ball…he turns into a statue and won’t move anymore. He can’t find his own shot.

On defense he won’t go through a screen or on top…always below because that’s the easy way out.

I could care less about that dude anymore because I don’t think KU will ever play him again…but his cons greatly outnumber his pros.

    • Way Too Early Top 25 - 2018/19 Season
      1. Kansas Jayhawks

Key Losses: Devonte Graham, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, Malik Newman, Sam Cunliffe, Clay Young

Key Additions: Devon Dotson, Quentin Grimes, David McCormack, Dedric Lawson, K.J. Lawson, Charlie Moore, Ochai Agbaji

The Jayhawks lose a Final Four MOP and Big 12 POY, Midwest Regional MOP, and a tenacious 6’5" dude with a 3" vertical who completely shut down a 7’1" Syracuse big for 21 minutes and was instrumental in proving Self’s system, when followed, will work during a stressful time in December. They also lose Sam Cunliffe who came in with high aspirations but requested his release to seek a new adventure elsewhere in search of more playing time. Jayhawks will potentially lose “Mr. November…take off 3 months…and show back up in March” and bmensch1’s favorite player, Lagerald Vick to the NBA…but…

The Jayhawks add 3 standout, best in the class, Mcdonald’s all american freshman, a legitimate NBA class stud in 6’9" Dedric Lawson who averaged 19.2ppg and 9.9rpg at Memphis, his brother KJ Lawson who averaged 12.3ppg and 8.1rpg at Memphis, and Charlie Moore who averaged 12.2ppg and 3.5apg at California. The 3 transfers, Sam Cunliffe, and Clay Young proved to be a standout team that beat the 2017-18 Final Four KU starters on a regular basis in practice games per reports.

The only plans the Jayhawk faithful should make on April 8, 2019 is either a trip to Minneapolis, MN or party planning for an 11:37 EST party to celebrate back to back National championships.

2-337. Who Cares…4,368 kids just wasted their time playing for second place. Well there are the 26 kids who will live their championship moments with an NIT and CBI victory parade.

Zion the greatest ever? Hardly. He’s good…but Durant is, and was, by far a better player and more exciting to watch. If Zion did what Durant did in the following, ESPN would be talking about it…FOREVER.

Also…if you go to 1:32:13 … merely a preview to “the shot” of 2008.

The east would be smoked if Durant, Klay, Looney weren’t out and if iguadoala (however it’s spelled) was better than 75% healthy.

    • RE: "The Scheme" HBO Doc

The “investigation” was a 100% complete shit show. First, this is the definition of entrapment. Second, the 2 FBI agents…really, the 1 (D’Angelo) was an idiot. The absolute DUMBEST investigation I’ve ever seen…and I watch a lot of documentaries and crime shows.

Every minute that passes during the show makes me realize that this KU on probation thing…aint gonna happen based on any “evidence” from this piece of shit.
