whatever happened to that guy from UMKC…wasn’t he a KU lock?

RE: Kyle Cuffe JR
soooo…here’s what we’ve got…as of 2:30pm EDT on 4/15/2021:
the seniors - freshman thing doesn’t work because you have covid…so
1 year left Mitch Teahan D2
2 years eligibility left Big Dave
3 years eligibility left Yesufu Braun Syd Curry
4 years left Dajuan Harris Zach Clamence KJ Adams Pettiford Cuffe
we have 12 players, but only 9 schollies count (Mitch and D2 don’t count…right?? and Teahan is on his own dime)…so we have 4?
Marcus could come back…but his scholarship won’t count. Ochai may come back as well as J-dubbs.
that leaves 1 scholarship and TyTy is pretty much the only dude out there being heavily recruited. so we potentially have 3 left over scholarships for next year?
Gone for good…Bryce, gethro, Juco boy, and latrell. and they aren’t coming back…forever. right? except to play in AFH in Bryce’s case when he goes to OSU.
Does that pretty much sum things up. I think I’m missing someone. like a creighton kid or something.

Hard to not just say “goodbye then” after seeing this.
Bryce Thompson went from a “I’m sure going to miss this kid, and I’ll always try to follow his progress while wishing nothing but the best for him” to a category of I wish he never considered KU because I loathe the fact he donned the crimson and blue. That’s elite company that only 3 previous Jayhawks ever achieved this category in my opinion: JR Giddens, Carlton Bragg, and Micah Downs.

RE: Bye Muscadin
I’ve got a feeling next year, the goal is going to be to shoot 30 3’s and attempt 10 lobs.
I wonder if Sydney Curry is watching all this happen, knowing HCBS is going to get his guys and wondering if he should just go ahead and get out of LOI or put his name in the portal or whatever things a JUCO kid needs to do to get out his “commitment”. Ain’t no way he’s seeing the court for any meaningful minutes next year. He isn’t going pro either so whether he gets on the court or not doesn’t mean anything in his grand scheme of life.

RE: KU vs USC game thread
We need Mobley…the shitty one…to keep shooting 3s. He shot his wad in the 1st half. Take away his outlier and if we. Shoot 50% from the field…we’re good

700 players in the portal. Any random 5 couldn’t do worse.
TGf could be worse. But he’s the exception

Length has bothered us all year. We have no answer for it on either end of the floor
Length has bothered like for 10 years…we usually have shooters that can hide it

Throw in Gethro for 2 minutes.
Gethro and Latrell show. It would not be worse

RE: KU vs USC game thread
Well we were down by 19 to Missouri with 16:38. And down by 14 to west vrginia with 3:42 left and 9 to Memphis with 2:12 left…
So if we come out with frank, devonte, t-rob, Josh Jackson, tyshawn and releford…we have this

RE: KU vs USC game thread
So…I’m thinking I have nothing going on next Sunday…time to check out tee times

Thompson has been the biggest disappointment this year. Started off the year okay; have fallen off the map since then…
I think the wrist really screwed him over

RE: KU vs USC game thread
Lightfoot is only -5 right now. On Saturday he was -13 at this stage of the game

RE: KU vs USC game thread
For probably the 25th game this season…I ask myself at the under 8 timeout…how in the hell are we not down 25. Then again, if we played anything worth a damn, we should be up 15

RE: KU vs USC game thread
This is going to go down as the worst officiating cre since the 1972 season too
-
RE: KU vs USC game thread
I have never…in 35 years of watching basketball seen this many jump balls

RE: KU vs USC game thread
So no fouls this game…unless it’s a bullshit foul. Got it

5 points in 8 minutes. On page for 25 for the game!
Status quo bud…we’re good

RE: KU vs USC game thread
Seems like our guys are getting beaten up worse than rocky balboa against Ivan drago…yet no fouls called.
-
RE: KU vs USC game thread
Weve got them right where we want them. Down 9 at the 10 minute mark.

National champs!!! We have a good draw
How does KU have a good draw? This is probably a worst case scenario of a draw for KU.
We should beat EWU, but we won’t have Jalen Wilson this weekend and David McCormack won’t be 100% and USC has 7 foot Pac 12 POY Evan Mobley. Should KU somehow manage to reach the S16, the likely match up would be NPOY Luka Garza and Iowa. Iowa is one of the best scoring teams and KU is a team that struggles to score.
So no, KU did not get a good draw, they got about as bad of a draw as possible with their current roster situation.
I say it every year. About 35 years running now. We’re good. Pac 10 is trash. Well stop Iowa. Well beat uva after they upset the zags. Then whomever and then whomever…were good
You do realize that KU will be without Jalen Wilson the first two games and even if David McCormack is playing (possibility he won’t play either), he won’t be 100%. KU got out into a bracket with great big men while dealing with their own big men issues. KU got a worst case scenario match up for having issues with their two best offensive post players.
I do realize that. I don’t care. Here’s what I know I do have at this moment. The best coach in the NCAA. The best defensive player in the NCAA. 1 less defensive liability (wilson) off the court. A resurgent Christian Braun (yes, I firmly believe he turns it around in March…he took a month off. He’s following the Malik Newman workout plan). An Ochai who’s going to take all that emotion from the Big 12 and continue on.
We’re good. I’m not worried about it.

RE: Big-12 Tourney
The way this year is going…the NCAA is probably calling the IARP right now to release the conclusion associated with the $2500 Silvio payment and for letting Preston to play in an exhibition game stating that KU has been given the following:
death penalty for 2 years,
a reduction to only 1 scholarship player for the next 5 and increasing an additional scholarship by 1 every 5 years thereafter
player admittance into KU will no longer be in KU’s court; however, the NCAA will require a perfect 36 on the ACT and speak fluent English with accents and hyperboles from all 50 states and perfect Hindi language from all counties in India
vacating all wins in the bill self era
reverse course on the previous probation decisions that Roy got us and vacate all those wins too.
NCAA rewrites history and, in collaboration with ESPN, to provide Duke with all the legendary history such as Duke’s 1988 run to the championship with Dannys and the miracles (and Ferry will be on the cover of SI)
And then announce Ok. State’s penalty is reversed and a public apology issued by the NCAA
Arizona charges dropped and Sean Miller named coach of the Year
Names Images and Likeness all approved

RE: Agbaji on ESPN mock draft board
ahhhh…draft boards. Love them. They always give me a chuckle. I guess you haven’t seen NBAdraft.net mocks.
2021: Ochai #26 Marcus# 53
2022 Bryce: #13 Jalen: #34 Braun: #37
Here’s my favorite thus far…nbadraftroom.com
#50 prospect of 2022 Bryce Thompson SG – Kansas – Ht – 6-5 – Wt – 175 – Wing – NA – Fr – A walking bucket. Thompson scores from 3 levels and makes the game look easy.
their definition of look easy and my definition are 100% complete polar opposites.

RE: Non-KU Games Thread
@jayballer67 that’s good! wish I could watch it…had to take care of some stuff when the half ended.
-
RE: Non-KU Games Thread
@jayballer67 Kobe shot free throws and walked to and from the bench when he ruptured his. Kobe was a crazy physical monster and Durant’s injury didn’t look like anything…so its possible.

RE: Non-KU Games Thread
@jayballer67 premature thought and I ain’t a doctor…but it looked like a blown achilles. I didn’t see the calf muscle move up as is typical…but he’s a tough kid and seeing him cry on the floor was pretty heart wrenching. I concede I root for kids to miss shots, rebounds, defensive assignment, etc. but seeing a kid hurt…never good.
