Jackson is heading to the NBA. Best of luck Josh. Thanks for all your hard play for us at KU.

JOSH SIGNS WITH ARMSTRONG

RE: Who is our best PG at this moment?
Did Frank and Devonte help themselves or hurt themselves by staying at KU for 4 years? I do not believe they would have been better off by leaving after their Soph. or Jr. year. And plus they got a diploma. Devon is in the same situation at this time in his life. Also, think how many assist he could have by passing to Tyon and Bryce, instead of his receivers now.

RE: A story by Ben Heeney
I have had three very good friends do this exact same thing. I know how Ben feels. What should I have said? What should I have done? HELPLESS FEELING!!! May God rest his soul.

RE: Langford
@Jayballer54 The way Vick is playing now I do not want him back. The obvious choice would be to take a veteran senior over a freshman, but Vick has lost his mojo, intensity, and want to. He has less than a half season to reverse that trend. If not, give me a new face that wants to come in and prove himself.

RE: Contender or Pretender?
My take on the Big Dance is you had better bring your A game each and every game. If not, you may go home quickly, no matter who you play. There are just too many teams out there that have at least 2 or 3 very good players. If they are hot and get a few breaks, (calls), and you are a little flat, then you can get beat. I hope the past has not been forgotten. The “B” teams, UNI, VCU, etc. So I am not going to overlook Wichita St., or Mid Tenn., or the Orange, or any one else. And I am definitely not going to trash any opponent to give them even more incentive to send us home. Lets do our celebrating and tough talk after the tourney is over.
Wishing our coaches and players good health and safety and to play injury free and well. GO JAYHAWKS!!!

MickeyD game
Our boy Billy had 10 points, 3 rebounds, in 16 minutes. 2-2 from 3 point range. Duval 8 points, 3 assist, 4 TO, in 20 minutes. He and MJ Walker still had KU listed as possible colleges. Hard to judge much, as it was an up and down rag tag game with very little defense, as usual. Still hoping we can land 1 or 2 more good players for next season. ROCK CHALK!!!

RE: #2 and content
@elpoyo I am very content to be #2 at this stage of the season. There are about 30 some games left for everyone to play, so #1 or #2 does not mean squat right now. In fact, all it does is put a larger target on your back, which we do not need. Every team we play it is their NC game because of the name on our jersey. When the season nears the end of March then I will be concerned about our ranking. But not right now.

RE: GAMEDAY is here Chat
@DoubleDD Sure glad someone stepped up and gave us the heimlich maneuver cause we were choking to death.

RE: Big 12 Suspensions
I have heard a lot of opinions about the incident. Here is mine. There are no fights, no suspensions, or even any hard feelings, if a punk named Gordon does not pull a bush league play while Silvio is running out the clock. I am sure Self has drilled it into the Jayhawk players to never run up the score or needlessly embarrass the opposing team. Remember the BGreene dunk? Squeaky said he told his players to stand down in the last few seconds. He is either a liar or his players pay no attention to him. Remember the Monmouth game earlier this season when another punk pulled a bush league play against Tristan dribbling out the last few seconds of a 110-55 blow out? I believe just maybe the Jayhawks are real tired of bush league punks coming into Allen Fieldhouse and after getting their asses kicked all over the floor for 40 minutes, they think they are getting the last laugh by being a punk. Bottom line is this: the punk Gordon is the one and only culprit in this melee.

RE: Make Love, Not War!
I sure am tired of reading and hearing about Silvio being the culprit. Yes he was wrong for taunting after his devastating block. But please remember how this started. Gordon is the one and only reason we are talking about a fight and suspensions. Without his stupid decision the players are lining up and shaking hands. Lets stop listening to Puke head Vitale and other talking heads and shine the light on the very beginning of this incident. GORDON.

@BShark Good choice him not going to MU.

RE: Is progress being made ? with the team
@jayballer73 Pooka sat out the Indiana State game. He had 22 carries for 99 yards against Coastal. We have large issues in every phase of the game. O-line, D-line, Special teams, which lost the game against Texas. I really feel we would have been much better if Khalil would not have left. A great one two punch with him and Pooka. Sure hope we can have a great game against Baylor. An upset would leave a better taste in our mouth going into next year. GO HAWKS!

RE: Recruiting Thread
@Jayballer54 Looks like we could have a just so-so season ourselves. At least measured by KU standards. May be lucky to finish in the top four of the Big 12, unless the BIG help gets here fast. We are just totally outmanned and we will not hit 15 to 17 threes very often. One hope is for the balanced Big 12 to beat up on each other. But we can not lose at home again to have a chance at keeping the streak alive.
-
RE: B12 tourney... weigh in
@jayballer54 I agree with coach and the players. We might as well win it. Not only that, this team is on track to match the 07-08 team. If they can win the next nine games, they will have the exact same record as that championship team. 37-3. Now wouldn’t that be fantastic? GO JAYHAWKS!!!
-
RE: Big 12 Tournament of tears
@kjayhawks Mason lob was the play that made the difference. If we get that open dunk, we are up by six. May not of mattered though the way we play defense.

RE: I know but yet guys
Thoughts and prayers to your wife. Hope there is good news in the future for both of you. Stay positive and rock on.

RE: Border War to start back up??
@KUSTEVE I am with you. I am not against raising money for anyone that has had to go thru what all these people have endured. Here is my selfish side. Has anyone considered that we only have 8 players (9 after first semester) to run thru 30 some odd games this season? While playing this good deed game, what if Udoka were to injure his hand again, or Devonte were to suffer an ankle or knee injury? Or God forbid, any injury to any of our very thin roster. Our season is over!!! Yes, that could happen in any game, or even practice, but this is a game that is being added to our schedule that we had not counted on playing. I would hope that the powers that be could come up with other ways to raise money without putting our players at risk. Yes I am very much against this game, be it Fizzou or anyone. Guess we had better hope and pray for the best.

RE: Francisco Franco Is Still Dead. Are Preston and De Sousa Still Not Cleared?
@Jayballer54 I hear you. I wonder how long it took Maryland to get Silvio’s buddy, Bruno, cleared. They are from the same area (Angola) and played on the same teams together. I guess it makes a big diff if you are playing on the coast as opposed to playing in the Midwest.

RE: Oklahoma Sooners - Tuesday - 8 pm - ESPN
@BShark That is right. I can not believe he left him the game. Every missed free throw was a turnover. STUPID!!!

RE: Here's what I think Self did tonight...
@CRH107 I also wonder what all the high school players out there that may be considering KU think. Are they thinking man if I go to KU and start having trouble with part of my game, are the coaches going to be able to help me, or they going to just let me struggle thru it on my own? Are the KU coaches competent enough to help me fix my problem? The debacle in Norman did not shine a very favorable light on Kansas. Hopefully all involved will be able to recover and we can continue a successful season. Will not take long to have the answer.

@BeddieKU23 Isn’t D Mac announcing on Sunday? I think that is what he was referring to.

RE: Trae Young
Did you see all the empty seats last night at the OU game? Why would he want to play there when he would be assured of 16,300 rabid fans every game? OU is a football school. KU is the mecca of college basketball. OU will be better next year as they have some good young players, but KU will be great year in and year out. He said he wants to win. Easy decision.
-
RE: New 2019 Recruiting
@jayballer73 I thing it would depend on whether Stanley is afraid of competition or not. If he does not believe he can come in and beat someone out, he needs to stay away. Hurt is the one I want, especially if DLawson leaves. We will be in a world of hurt in the paint. No pun intended.
-
RE: Trae Young
Yes our backcourt may be crowded next year, but OU is also pretty full. Anderson, James, McGusty, Odomes, Quinn, Shepherd, Strong-Moore will all be there. I am sure Trae is not afraid of any competition. His desire to win is pretty strong. I would think that would point him towards KU. At last I hope we will be more successful than OU in the years ahead.
And yes, he would be able to attract many more fans to their games, being a home town hero. But what fun is that if you are on a .500 winning team? I wonder how J. Allen is feeling now that he could have been a Jayhawk? And wow could we really use him. Free throws a problem with him also, but still.
-
RE: Final Four Game Thread
@dylans What would make me feel better would be more banners hanging in AFH. I just feel if he had recruited hard nation wide we could have lured even more outstanding players to KU, and thus won more championships. Maybe, maybe not.
I did not like his exit either, but as time has passed, I have come to understand his reasons. I will never understand or forgive the recruiting issue. Even so, I believe he is a good person, and wish him well. Just hurts that it is not KU doing the winning.

RE: Who Was It That Told Me There Was No Chance Bridges Would Be Back At MSU?
@Crimsonorblue22 Best of luck to Josh in court. Would be amazing if he has the urge to come back. Probably cost us Juiston, but one more year of Josh would make us SAAAALTY also.
-
RE: So National Championships Matter?
@jayballer54 Like I have said before, Ol Roy may have won a championship or two or more if he had recruited the entire nation. He did damn good while recruiting only half the nation. Coach Self has had quite a few very good players from the East coast. Roy had none. I wonder how many years KU was just one really good player short of winning it all under Roy. Guess we will never know. Still makes me very upset to think about it. We were cheated!!
-
RE: Did Dean Reputedly Agree to Recruit Only Half the Country?
@DoubleDD Answers to your questions: NO he did not do everything in his power to win it all at KU. YES he did not dare to cross the line to upset daddy Dean. YES he did leave something in the tank at KU that otherwise may have led to a NC banner.
I appreciate what Roy did do at KU to keep us a winning program, but have always felt he did not give 100% to push us into the championship category. Close but no cigar.

RE: The McCormack File
@HighEliteMajor I guess we could. But if Doke and Billy both leave, that leaves us with Mitch and two freshmen. Very thin again. Mitch and two freshmen plus the Lawsons is where I want to be. Stacked and very deep with lots of fouls to give.
-
RE: Thoughts on the victory vs Fizzou
@Texas-Hawk-10 We all know when UA’s injury occurred. Yesterdays news. In my post from days ago, I stated the fact that injuries can happen at any time. (Practice or games). Our practice time and schedule was already set for this season. This game was a hurried up add on. That is why I was against it, even though it showed my selfish side. It was another chance for something bad to happen. Now that it is history and everything came out great, we can all be happy and thankful. We have experience against a quality opponent, game film to watch, bragging rights, etc. Hindsight and history is wonderful isn’t it?

RE: Fort Hays State University Tigers - Tuesday - 7 pm - Metro Sports
@wrwlumpy FANTASTIC AS ALWAYS!! Thanks very much.

RE: DeSousa
@JayHawkFanToo Yeah watched that game also. Made me also wonder about Ayton. Since Zona is a part of the FBI probe, and many of the CB’s had him as a lock for KU. Then all of a sudden he chooses Zona in the end. Sounds and looks a little fishy to me. Just imagine Doke and Ayton on this KU team. Wondering???

RE: Next year
@Lulufulu My expectations have been severely tempered. Winning the Big 12 will be greatly challenged with this roster plus Cunliffe. I have seen at least a dozen guards in our conference that will drive to the basket at will against us. Plus many of them shoot very well from three, which we can not seem to guard at all. Keeping the conference streak going will be more of a challenge than I can remember for many years. Hoping the guys will start playing with tons of pride and grit. I am sure they do not want to be the team that breaks the streak. Lots of pressure!!!

RE: Is TCU Mitch Lightfoot's Break Out Game?
@dylans Also where the hell is NBA bound Vick? LOL! And where the hell is Overseas bound Newman? LOL! I am sure DG, Svi, Dok, MG, and Mitch would greatly appreciate a little help from them. SCHEEESH!!!

RE: Oklahoma Sooners - Tuesday - 8 pm - ESPN
@hawkmoon2020 You will see a replay of this from now on. We are lucky no one has used it before now. STUPID!!!

RE: Bill Self - cost us the game?
@Bwag Of course Self lost this game. Even worse he may have cost us the streak. Instead of 7-1 and in complete control of the conference, we are now going to have to scramble and claw to win it. I am still in disbelief of the way he blew this game. Complete stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and failing each time. And I do not give a damn what excuse he uses for doing it. Build confidence? Bull Sht! Send a message? Bull Sht!! There is absolutely no excuse to take away a hard fought road win from your team. And that is what he did. I wonder what confidence he instilled in his team with that coaching decision??
-
RE: Now having had time
Could not agree with you more. I did not sleep at all last night. Feel like a truck hit me this morning. I bleed crimson and blue. I am overly passionate about our Jayhawks. I now have to make the decision whether to continue to watch them the rest of the season. It is affecting my health terribly and not in a good way. Confidence in Self dropped several notches last night.
-
RE: Now having had time
@HighEliteMajor I totally agree. Instead of gaining confidence, (which is the excuse Self made), I am hoping it did not have the reverse affect. After he missed the second set of FT’s you could see the rest of the team losing confidence also. They just did not play with the same mojo after the poke-a-Doke started, thereby OU finished the game with a flurry, and we were blanked. Game over.
Also, the people that are saying that we had a two game cushion in the conference so it was okay to gamble reminds me of how we play a lot of time. Instead of the mindset of we have them down lets step on their necks and crush them, it is we are far enough ahead so lets ease up a little. We know how that ends.
-
RE: Done deal?
@kjayhawks You are correct. But I am not giving in or up. We still have our destiny in front of us. No worse than tied for first going into next week. We have got to win in the PHOG!!!. Go to TTech and win and take care of the rest of the bottom teams. It can be done. Hopefully these guys do not want to be the team to stop the streak. They have a prize in front of them that would live forever, by passing the almighty UCLA record. That alone should be enough incentive. LETS GO HAWKS!!!
-
RE: When going gets tough, the tough get going.
@kjayhawks You mean “when the going gets tough”? I pray every day for Coach Self and the KU Jayhawks to be successful and to remain safe and healthy and injury free. So far it has been 50-50, but going down hill lately, but I will keep on praying and keeping the faith.
-
RE: When going gets tough, the tough get going.
@kjayhawks I have been sitting here pondering a couple situations regarding our team since yesterdays game, which I could not finish watching because our play, or lack thereof, made me sick. Spent the last 4 minutes in the bathroom. One is pretty darn good, the other is extremely devastating.
Lets assume that the rumors of dissention on the team are true and that some players have a dislike for each other. A team killer!! We all know that in team sports it takes EVERY member of the team to be pulling on the same rope, at the same time, with the same vigor, to be successful. With that in mind here are the scenarios:
Scenario 1: The dissention and dislike continues among team members and becomes a total disruption of team unity. We finish conference play with an 8-10 record, lose first round of conference tourney, have an 8 or 9 seed and lose first round. Lets be charitable and say we win our homecoming game. Finish 20-13.
Scenario 2: There is no dissention or dislike. The team pulls together and finishes conference with 13-5 record and #14. We lose in conference tourney finals, but make it to second weekend in Big Dance. Considering all the chaos (Preston) during the season we call this a successful year and look forward to an almost new team next year.
WE will probably be somewhere in between, but for the sake of Jayhawk Nation, I pray we are much closer to scenario number 2. GO HAWKS!!!

RE: What’s up with Lagerald?
@bskeet The reason Vick has been so disappointing is we all know he has great athletic ability. Speed, great leaper, when he wants to. He should be driving the ball to the rim and scoring or getting fouled like the other guards. He is just as quick as they are. I do not think he has confidence in his handles and that may be why he is not using all of his ability. I do know if he would assert his will on the defense, we would be a much more powerful offense. At least Garrett is trying to do that as a freshman.
Come on Legerald put us over the hump!!!
