The Royals taught me patience the last 2 seasons which I now apply to my basketball fanaticism. My son has noticed the change - much calmer demeanor early in the season. However, while at the game last night with my 5 year old granddaughter, she told her mother that she was going to re-cycle me so I wouldn’t be such a sports nut case and I would be shorter…a painful thought since I’m only 5’4". I like your focus on 3015…maybe I don’t need to reform until 3014?

In 2002 my Dad attended his first KU men’s basketball game-he was 70. It was the Feb game where they celebrated the 50th anniversary of the 1952 championship team. On Sunday morning my Dad called his brother (72) to tell him about the game and. reminisce about 1952 when they were young men.
My Dad left in the glow of the game and conversation to attend a Super Bowl party. A couple of hours later my cousin called to tell me his Dad had died (cancer victim). When my Dad heard the news - he was so grateful that KU basketball had brought them together on the last day of his brother’s life. KU basketball equals good feelings and family memories at my house.
Will share 2008 good times later if anyone actually reads this…

HR person here. Pretty certain that KU has dealt with similar employee issues in the past. Organizations have to deal out the same discipline to similar policy breakers regardless of their position. That said , Self as his manager can deliver his own unique thrashing. Oops should have typed message to JH.

Am sure KU has a code of conduct that employees have to suffer thru annual training on. Probably has bullets on professional, truthful behavior and requires employees’ signature. Does not matter where the unacceptable behavior occurred–especially in this situation since he’s embarrassed the school along with himself and family. It’s easy to directly connect this issue to damaging his performance as well. Easy discipline decision.

Checkout the Handbook for Faculty and other Unclassified Staff --section on committing an act that involves such moral turpitude as to render the faculty member unfit for his position. Not a KU employee but all organizations have behavior policies/standards.

Appreciate the reco on firstrow - didn’t work for me. Not sure how we organize our constructive feedback for Shane - he might be surprised how much he could collect from us KU grads if he just asked and put the games back on local tv.
