Some bad news

God help me, I do love the smell of basketball napalm in the morning.

This is actually good news.
Self gets bored when things go right.
You are starting to sound really creepy…
-
We are not on the f&(#@(_($ naughty list Santa! Wtf?
-
I wanted Lightfoot to have a breakout year but not like this. I feel bad for the big guy.
-
The frosh big curse continues.
-
shit.
-
Well bright side, doke didn’t play many minutes last game. Need help here, ahhhh
-
This is LL’s chance to prove he can play like he did at the end of last year. If he can do that…for the most part…we’ll be OK. Bragg in there when we go 2 bigs…Coleby off the bench and Lightfoot when needed. Not ideal,…but the other guys have to step up.
-
This really hurts. We will really need Bragg and Coleby to steup up now.
-
There is no bright side to this, unfortunately.
-
@Hawk8086 you are right. The other guys have no choice but to step up and play well. Not having Doke will be noticed against big teams like Baylor and Kentucky but that just means our guards will have to apply a lot of ball pressure just like Nova.
-
I’m more worried about next year and the loss of experience. Dok needed this year. Watching Bragg lets me know how much work it takes.
-
As for this year, I’m hoping it galvanizes the post players. Lucas no longer needs to look over his shoulder. Bragg needs to accept the responsibility of starters minutes. Lightfoot needs to make a freakin’ free throw so he can play.
-
Lightfoot is a PF/C in a wing’s body, God bless him. He and Coleby will be pressed into service though, that’s for sure.
-
@dylans exactly - time to be men and own their spots. No excuses for any of them
-
@HawkChamp only thing is Coach says Coleby still not right, says he is dragging leg, so you can’t really count on him - - gonna big huge problem when Landen gets in foul trouble for sure. - - Mitch just DOES NOT have the muscle to compete inside this year,- - -Bragg reluctant to bang inside - - - Coleby still not recovered this sucks - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer54 structurally Coleby is fine according to Coach, so that will have to do. The others will have to have the discipline to play without fouling. Coleby and Lightfoot will have to play in order to give our guards some rest.
-
Doke is gone for the year.
Sorry, guess that was revealed in the link above.
-
Take a deep breath.
Everything is going to be alright.
We go through this stuff multiple times each season.
Take my hand.
Then take a step with me.
-
It’s certainly good that Lucas seems to be rounding into form. No more injuries please.
-
Well Doke. We won’t forget about you. Looking forward to wooden watch next year. Already was… Still am! That 280 lb rim run and dunk from the high post in the 4 guard lineup is lethal. Until then, can still work on conditioning and explosiveness. Could be worse, could be leg or back.
-
As i said to @JayHawkFanToo, this is just another bump in the road.
Let’s just hope Doke did not break it over someone’s head in the Wheel, where there would be blow back. Apparently that is not the case.
I’ve been wanting to stop wasting Josh Jackson on the perimeter, since I first saw his outside shot.
JJ could score some serious points working the paint for 38 on short treys and foul up most opposing post men.
I really think this could be a blessing in disguise for this team, if Josh’s handlers will permit him to play inside. Self has no control over that, obviously, but we will learn soon enough.
If not, well then Carlton Bragg, basketball newlywed, is about to find out what Conference play is all about.
Rock Chalk!
-
@jaybate-1.0 not sure about “obviously” but I agree with your point about Josh posting up on the block more - he has already shown to have a good hook shot.
Carlton is a sophomore, so he already understands about conference and the rigors of it, but now he is expected to contribute. Still waiting for him to be involved in a Perry style pick and pop about six or seven times per game. Shooting is a major strength of his and he needs to utilize it more.
-
I agree that is a bump on the road, a big one at that, but by no means it is good news.
-
Ironically, Dok had the best hands of all the big men…
