Boston College and Boise State seem to be their best wins. The C5 “Inglorius Bastards” will be closely dissected after this game. This should be one of the fastest games we play this year with a lot of steals by a lot of Jayhawks. Defense leading to fast breaks should be on this menu.

Forget about the Height Hype. Three of the top five scorers are 6-3, 6-2 and 5-10.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

7’6" That’s big! Add 300 pounds to that frame and, wow, what size! He’s shooting 67% which almost seems low when you’re that big.

@wrwlumpy agreed

@wrwlumpy the way I like to play!

@wissoxfan83 If Bragg or Diallo can manage to jump completely astride or over this guy, Bill Self will have to start him until midApril!!!
-
No way Mamadou impacts our speed. He’s clumsy and slow. Mason and Ellis have to be smart against this guy. We need a lot of seals and hi/low. He can’t move the ball too well and we should be able to disrupt his lane work. He can be blocked out and our guys have to remember he can go over the back and will NOT be called based on his size, 7’6. The refs will let him pick the over the back. He will not be called for over the back if he extends his arm over players and picks the ball for rebounds. If Self goes toe to toe in the lane with this guy it’s not going to be good. We don’t have a good match except “Red” and “Lucas.” Diallo and Bragg will have to rely on speed and athleticism to beat this guy. They will need to keep him off balance. We should get him into foul trouble, without creating contact. The refs won’t fall for creating contact against him. They will have to keep him off balance and commit fouls with his arms. He has a 8’3 wingspan. But someone mentioned their top three scorers too.

@truehawk93 Mamadou doesn’t impact or speed at all, unless we impact our own speed by trying to adjust to him (or them).
What I mean is that the level of respect we give him can compromise our ability to play the way we want to play. We’ve seen it before where Self is content with playing the way other teams plays, games he seems to enjoy (the muddy games). We were sucked into playing one of those games before with an inferior opponent earlier in the season.
We can play at our pace, while still respecting the fact that he’s an overwhelming matchup on the block for every player we have (and for much of the nation I would presume). I posted my thoughts on that on the Mamadou thread. Pretty simple stuff really that Self does all the time.
If you want to look for the “perfect” attack to handle an overwhelming post player, go back and look at what SDSU did to Embiid in AFH. Great game planning. And Self admitted after the game that we weren’t ready for that – one of the few times Self was clearly out coached. Mamadou may be ready for it, but the weapons around him are inferior. We will overwhelm them with our strengths.
